Found this very interesting article about the subject. http://www.nzmeccano.com/Whatsup2.php The last comment made me lol. I have just been trying to help my 8 year old assemble the "Push Bike" model in the "5 Model Set". Very difficult with vague instructions for only three of the five models. My sons comment. "This is junk, I'd much rather play with my Lego." Sad but true Maccano has lost the plot.

[MOD] 8258
SheepEater replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If I ever build this guy again (from my existing parts... I never bought the set), I will try to fix its most glaring flaws. Completely motorizing the outriggers, and completely motorizing the crane (extension + winch) -

Love it! Did you build it from two 8285s? Or one 8285 with extra parts? -

Hi I think this is an appropriate topic to post this... My mom never liked that I spent so much on Lego and is visiting my appartment next week. She always nags I've got more than enough Lego and that I don't need to buy anymore. (I'm in my 30s and haven't lived with my parents since I was 19, BTW) Now my parents haven't visited my appartment in a year so obviously I bought tons of sets since then (LOTR, The Hobbit), all displayed proudly in my room. To put you in context, I never owned any castle sets before, or sets with so many gray and black bricks. (I was collecting Technic/City mostly) I've come up with a counter argument for the conversation that I expect is gonna happen. NOTE: Obviously the boxes have to be either hidden or thrown out. Mom: You bought all these Lego sets? Me: Oh those? I built them with instructions downloaded from the Lego site. (LIE) Mom: With the Lego you already own? Me: Yup Outcome 1: Mom: Don't lie, you don't have anything remotely like those. Me: Ok I admit, sorry, I lied, they're all new sets. But I really wanted to build those awesome LOTR models YOU just admitted I NEEDED to buy new bricks to do so, unable to do the same with the bricks from my existing collection! Outcome 2: Mom: Oh, I see. (As long as she never sees the boxes or instructions you're fine)

Lego Technic 8258 Alternative Model: Tow Truck MOC IR
SheepEater replied to MrTekneex's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice MOC! But it's not really an alternate model if it requires additional parts. People with only the XL motor coming with the original set can't build it.- 66 replies

Precisely what I thought as well. I only bought it after I saw it on sale. But in my very first build, it's "cobbled together" flaw inspired me to incorporate hinges right into the build to connect everything together. As a result I had more fun building this set than the rest of the hobbit line http://www.eurobrick...=80391&hl=79010 http://www.flickr.co...964105876/show/

I talked to one of my local TRU managers today. Apparently LOTR isn't that great of a seller "because kids don't know the storyline". Still, it's only one store, so take it for what it's worth.

How much did you pay for your #41999?
SheepEater replied to peter_m's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
250 canadian bucks -
Back in october 2002 I spent an evening painstakingly taking printscreens of the crappy flash based instructions on Lego's website (which was taken down in less than a week after I had finished). 251 pages, about 80 mb total. In around 2007 I sent them to Brickfactory website and he arranged them neatly, but apparently he has removed all instructions from the site. (EDIT: My bad, apparently they are still at brickfactory, I just couldn't figure out the link) One recent email asked me for instructions. I still have them. EDIT: Uploaded to Flicker Set 1 of 8 Set 2 of 8 Set 3 of 8 Set 4 of 8 Set 5 of 8 Set 6 of 8 Set 7 of 8 Set 8 of 8

You actually found it, it was me who couldn't. Which kinda makes this entire topic pointless. Oh well. (Until I can create a nice PDF out of it) -
Fantastic MOC! I can spot a lot of big molded parts that I didn't even know were made in black. Added to index!

I guess I could use the PHP FPDF library to create a PDF (I don't have any PDF editing software otherwise) In the meantime, I uploaded it to flicker Didn't take too long after all. Set 1 of 8 Set 2 of 8 Set 3 of 8 Set 4 of 8 Set 5 of 8 Set 6 of 8 Set 7 of 8 Set 8 of 8 -

Question about armor decoration
SheepEater posted a topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hi! How were you able to put chain mail body print on the soldiers and the orcs? I am allowed to cut-n-paste your printed torsos to other lxf files, but they never appear when I set a new design on a torso. I moved this question out as a new topic /Admin -

Good luck to you. I may have to revisit thread in the near future - my old Windows XP's motherboard died a few weeks ago. I have bought a replacement refurbished Windows XP system in anticipation of having problems running it on my Windows 7 laptop. I cannot test anything RIS. 2.0 at the moment though, because I don't have it with me. I hope I'm OK though - My RIS 2.0 came with a USB tower. Anyone of you ever had success using that USB tower in an emulated Windows 98 system in VMPlayer? -
What is the likelihood of getting (at least) one more LOTR Wave?
SheepEater posted a topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Answer to your best ability. Not according to how you WISH there was a 3rd wave or more, but how likely it is. 1) Do they sell well? Store managers or Lego employees are in a good position to know this. 2) Do you know anything that can confirm for certain that there will be more sets next year? -
