Gatanui

WARNING: Gatanui is two people, so don´t be surprised if you talk to him and he does not remember what you were saying the day before. :P This was a secret to most people until they officially revealed it in their application for LEGO Ambassador of BZPower in late 2010. After that they realized there was no more point in keeping that a secret, as too many people already knew it. Still, they would appreciate it if you treated them like one person. If you ask them why they do that, they will just tell you it´s their game.

The origins of Gatanui lie in 2001, when two young brothers and new fans of BIONICLE created an account on LEGO.com in order to play the Mata Nui Online Game. Still called AdrianGeorg, they had (and still have) a very close relationship and shared games, free time and toys. This attitude would lead to the idea of creating an account for BZPower which they would share, as they had never done too much seperately before. What nobody knows is that their first accounts on BZPower were not shared and a result of one of those silly disputes little kids tend to have, but they never posted with them as they were deleted due to never being validated. :P That happened in 2004, when they started visiting BZPower. They finally joined BZPower with one common account on 31st July 2005, though they did not start posting and being active before November 2005.

It should become clear that in the future, the two brothers that shared the account would distribute the roles. The older of them would take on the creative part, making most of the MOCs and artwork and becoming very active in the LEGO community on Flickr. Both enjoy MOCing with BIONICLE, LEGO Technic and the new bone building system of HERO Factory. The younger one would take care of most of the posting around forums.

Among their hobbies are drawing, MOCing, painting, decompiling Adobe Flash files ( :P) and coding and thinking about society, politics and science, two hobbies they share. If you follow their Twitter blog, you may find a tweet containing a philosophical or political thought from time to time. Many of their philosophical tweets can be found in their rotating signature.

Gatanui has been visiting Eurobricks every day since about 2010 and eventually decided to join in 2012, after one of the brothers finally became 18 years so they could join without violating the Eurobricks policy.

Today, Gatanui is far more than just an account. For the two brothers, it is a symbol of their close friendship and of what they share. One day, they may leave BZPower, they may drift apart and go seperate ways, but Gatanui will always exist as a link between the two.
