  1. Wow. I can't believe they're only giving the WS away in he UK with Helicarrier purchases. Much too expensive for me - I wonder how many collectors are getting priced out of Lego Super Heroes at the moment?

I'm happy to buy sets that offer good playability for the kids but I'll definitely be spending less than previously as there's no chance of me completing a collection now.

  2. Best Marvel - Rocket from the polybag although I loved the Storm figure.

Worst Marvel - the Sentinel which is all manner of wrong. The head is far too small and the whole thing looks flimsy. Other than that, I'll echo the thoughts on Green Goblin. As a comics fan I don't like Electro either but can see why he is as he is.

Best DC - Batgirl is excellent

Worst DC - don't really have one. There wasn't a single duff figure in the whole range.

  3. I like it! Also what dish piece is that? Is it based on a picture of an actual satellite?

Thanks! The dish is from a Ninjago set - can't remember which one I'm afraid. And no picture used - all from his imagination!

  4. I asked my 8 year old to build something for CopMike's Christmas competition and then unfortunately got confused about the time difference and missed the deadline.

What, he built though I'm really impressed by so I thought I'd upload it anyway! This is his 'TV space satellite' - hope you like it.

  5. Hi everyone. I'm always really keen to see how it's possible to make bigger (generally 32 width) buildings with multiple copies of the same set. As I'm hugely into superheroes I've just completed a version bringing together two #76005 sets (the Daily Bugle Showdown). Apart from the circular bricks, creating the columns at the front, the only bricks used are those from the two 76005s. In some places that meant that I was a bit short of bricks - there are some places where I could have done with different pieces (the use of the brown plate instead of dark grey on the roof for example). I'd also have liked to have a but more detail near the top, but again a lack of useful bricks stymied me.

I would welcome your thoughts - I may well put in a Bricklink order to jazz it up a bit. And I'd really like to make it bigger - another 8 deep would be good (to make it 32x16 instead of 32x8).

If you're interested in Daily Bugle MOCs/MODs, can I also recommend these two which are superb:

  7. I've been trying to pick them up in boxes, but it's a pain. It's a nightmare trawling through Aliexpress or eBay as sellers often use boxed pictures to advertise a product that they don't supply boxed.

So far my experience hasn't been great. Most of the boxes I've received so far have been crushed in the post due to poor or no packaging. I'm still searching for a decent source of boxed figures. I'll let you know if I find one.

Thanks. I'll gladly do the same for you.

I can source boxed figures for you. But I am paying retail prices rather than wholesale so the end prices would not be attractive vs eBay or alipay.

Thanks for the offer. I'll definitely consider it but I'm probably going to be price led on these figures.

  8. Actually he's not. I've said the same thing and other have to. I have no problem with Lego rewarding fans with special exclusives for making a trip. I'm planning on going next year to SDCC and hope I can get something for me and the boys. It's the elitists that are making this such a big deal.

I'm not sure I understand your post. Are you describing the people who want a more equitable distribution of figures as elitist?

  9. I understand why exclusive figures do upset most of you, but need I remind everyone that Lego is just a toy brand. Even though most of you have great sentimental value behind it, do not let it consume your life. We all have freedom of speech but complaining in life gets no where. Let's all be mature and accept it for what it is. Either you go to SDCC or go to the secondary market to fulfill your completist ways...

The 'it's just a toy argument' is a ridiculous one - who has the right to say what anyone is interested in. Furthermore, think about the nature of the product - it is just a toy? TLG itself has marketed the product more and more in recent years as a collectible - it has encouraged it's adult fans to see some Lego themes in that way. Unless Lego are completely deluded they'll know that the figures on offer at SDCC won't end up in the hands of kids and they definitely won't get played with.

I don't think anyone here is suggesting that this will consume their life - I think we're just expressing dissatisfaction with the way in which a company which produces a product we love has operated. Again.

You're right about what our choices are if we want to complete the collection (although as I said up thread there are other options available to us as consumers). And no, complaining won't magically mean we all get a Collector minifig - but it does help to share thoughts with others. Isn't that what forums are for?

  10. It's like they're making cookies for you and then making an 'exclusive' cookie once a year for less than 1% of the customers. Just forget about that cookie. Your collection can be complete with out this cookie. The 'exclusive' cookie is not necessary, the creators just want to get peoples attention. Guys...imagining they wouldn't do the exclusives. What would be different? You still wouldn't get that Collector or Spiderwomen or whatever. I know it's hard if there's a chance of getting something you really want ( I know that feeling I Would die for a collector minifigure) but you can't get it because you life too far away or so. But really....who says you need this mini figure (except your inner child)? I'm sad that I'm not getting the collector minifigure but when new pictures of a new wave of sets appears all this thought will be washed away. Sorry for being to emotionally!:)

Yes, you're absolutely right. But when a significant number of AFOLs are interested in the collecting as well as the building element of Lego then what TLG is doing is self-destructive. Obviously they can choose to do what they want with their product, but as consumers we can choose what to do too - be it buy copy figures from alternative brands; start buying sets for resale to fund the purchase of SDCC exclusives or simply to stop collecting (as what's the point of a collection it's impossible to complete). I'm not sure these are the sorts of outcomes TLG really wants to achieve.
