  1. Does anyone know how long the Tumbler is? I'm hoping it will fit inside a Detolf case.
  2. I bought 42030 and I might grab a Tumbler.
  3. It took me about seven hours to build 42030 over two days. The entire process was a lot of fun and very comparable to 8265 which still remains a favorite of mine. There are about 1,000 less pieces than last years 42009 but it never felt like it.This thing is huge! I know there was talk of this set not being in scale with previous Technic construction sets but it is. It is close to 1/22 to 1/24 scale which matches up nicely with 42009 and 8043. Of course this replica is a bit longer overall if you were to put it side by side with an accurate diecast model but that is down to design choices while trying to stuff all of the PF inside it. There are areas that need attention like the front but overall I am impressed and seeing this set in person has changed my opinion. The steering is not terrible but I'm interested to see what mod's are in the works. Whether it is worth $250 US is another matter but if you want one you don't have a choice. I went for the Rock Crusher XT 1.9's instead of the stock "Unimog" tires as the tread is too shallow. Obviously these are more for crawling but they don't look half bad until I can find a better option. I did have to move the front fenders back one stud and and modify the rear fender hinges so the tires wouldn't rub when the pendular axle was used. I also added 1x8 tiles to cover the gray frames and panels to improve the front end.
  4. I agree, the attention to detail is very nice to see. They could have put all of the focus on the exterior but the chassis and interior are no less interesting. Why did this have to be $200!
  5. Shapeways added yellow to the available colors back in June I think. http://www.shapeways.com/model/1740149/wheelcover-for-racing-wheel-medium.html?materialId=93
  6. Has anyone ordered the yellow 42030 rim covers? I'm curious if the color is similar to the real Lego yellow.
  7. My latest additions include the 9398 and 8051(still a WIP street fighter). Not shown is the 42030 that is on the way. Curiosity wanted to join in on the fun so I let her
  8. I found one on eBay for $259 shipped and couldn't resist buying it and I actually saved about $10 versus ordering from S@H. The best part is that it has already shipped and will arrive by next Wednesday
  9. Just picked up this set from ToysRUs. I was not planning on buying anything but that's how it goes right Their website said my store was out of stock but they had one left on clearance for $160. It felt like nobody wanted the poor thing so it came home with me. I'm already planning to swap out the white pieces but I'm unsure on which design to go for. What do you guys think?
  10. My TRU only had the smaller second half sets. I was hoping to find a 42030 but no luck.
  11. Huh? I'm sure the tires are the same rubber compound, just different shape. This is a must-have for me! The size is awesome and the details are too. The exclusive minifigs are just a bonus!
  12. Forget the 2014 Technic sets, I'm getting the Tumbler. They really nailed the look!
  13. I want this set but not at $250. This set is overpriced for sure. I was just comparing this set to the real L350F and the proportions are totally wrong! The body is too big and the only area where it actually resembles the Volvo is the color. This is easily the worst flagship release to date and the designer should be canned before he ruins future products.

    The Hummer

This is such a brilliant piece. It almost resembles a diecast model more than Lego because it is that good. I cannot get enough of your hamsters They must love exploring all of your creations!
  15. Grabbed an 8051 mint in box for $120 shipped. Not really a deal compared to the MSRP of $39, but cheaper than if I were to buy the parts from Lego which completely shocked me. The total Lego sent to me after compiling the list was nearly $130! How can that be when they released the set four years ago for $40? It will become a custom streetfighter/cafe racer
  16. Excellent review! Thank you! As impressive as this set is due to the size, it just doesn't capture my attention. I wanted it to make me want to sell my 8265 but that is not the case. The tires still look too small for this to be an L350F and the front half of the chassis as you said looks unfinished and rushed. Then there is the price for this set! $250! Just for that alone I think I will pass.
  17. Wonderful! You really captured the look well! The only thing(s) that stand out are the side mirrors because they have such abrupt angles compared to the real thing.

    8070 Spider

I couldn't look at that ugly rear of the 8070 any longer so I ripped out the motor and battery box with all functions converted to manual control. Not only does the car look better but with the extra weight gone the entire stance has been improved! The rear sits higher and the space between the tires and wheel arches matches that of the front. Also changed from the previous photos are black rims, a V10 engine and a reworked front end. The folding hardtop roof has been tweaked slightly as well to allow for a better fit.
  19. 8070 gets my vote too. It has all the right pieces to make a killer alternate model.

    CUUSOO LEGO® NASA SLCR

I thought about keeping mine sealed but that wouldn't be any fun. Sets like this one are meant to be displayed!
  21. The problem is that some parts are discolored from the factory. Some of the thin red lift arms on my 8420 and 8272 sets were quite a bit off to begin with, not to mention the various shades of "Bright Yellow" that Lego surprises us with. I have tires from 1998-2001 and they look grayish compared to the newer ones but they may have been this way all along due to the compound used during those years. Three of the four shocks on my 8110 Unimog are losing their ability to hold up the vehicle and it now tilts to one side. This is a known issue and Lego sent me four brand new replacements in the mail after emailing them my invoice. Excellent customer service for sure! -Don't display in direct sunlight or close to light bulbs -Don't leave batteries in them -Regularly dust or cover sets with protective bags -Rotate tires every month or so
  22. It was a must have for me because I missed out on grabbing 8421. I added extra parts to enhance the look of the set and built the extended boom by Chrismoi59 and will add r/c in the future. It doesn't have the playability of a loader, an excavator or a set like 9398 for obvious reasons. Cranes are slow moving and this set is no exception but it looks really nice on display.
