    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

It was a lightweight AC&F car remodeled to accept the additional weight of the heavy power generation equipment on the one end at some point from the baggage car it was.

    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

EDIT: It's done (for now)!! Still waiting on a few more bricklink orders and several more hours bangin my head against my desk finishing decals in photoshop, but as my first MOC post & first post-darkage creation I was a little excited to show her to the world. Not 100% if I'll stick with #6936 because it's still running in UP's heritage fleet, or #6913 because its in Texas. As you can see the yellow is still off in the decals plus I have a few hundred more to apply but these are just the first ones I printed to fine tune the colors on my printer. I'll have HQ pictures on brickshelf in a few days once my camera comes back from repairs.

    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

Thank you for the kinds thoughts, I tried to keep it true as I could given the fixed bricks within which we build, my fleet is growing at a snails pace, here's an update: DDA40X #6936, HEP UPP #207, U50C #5037 by J.J. Williams, on Flickr

    LDD Help with Trains

I know this is not the 100% correct forum, but I think those of us who model in LDD will be happy this part is in the latest update!

Thanks zephyr1934! Thanks Ballast it was quite the project. Thanks Thorg23! Thanks Konrad! She won Best Train at Bricks Cascade last weekend, I was really suprised, there was some stiff competition in the railyard!

    Power Functions Battery box Size

4 Bricks / 12 Plates tall. The rechargable and AAA box are the same size. Thats a good question, until just now when I pulled one of each out of my trains to double check that fact, I always assumed they were

    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

Thanks UrbanErwin! There are I believe 14 out of 1940 or so total parts that have been modified from very minor too unholy amounts, I'm not a 100% purist but in some of the details and the truck engineering it had to be done to work correctly, but it's all stud & tube no glue. The 2 which you inquire is this part for the antenna http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=3957 but just the top 1/2" or so I cut off and stuck into this http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=3794. The light is this http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=58176 stuck thru a http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=3070b that I drilled out to the diameter of the light and then under it is this http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=3062b to hold it all in place.

    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

Thank you Werlu Ulcur that means a lot, I think Swoofty http://www.flickr.co...s/swoofty/sets/ has modern diesels well covered Thanks Spitfire2865! Go big or go home was the thought when I started this plan 1 year ago Thank you lostdriveway. Thanks riograndefan, I think a U50C is next on my list. Thank you Locomotive Annie, I'd kinda hit a brickwall & endless frustration with the decals, but finally got them done in time for her first public show this Saturday @ http://www.brickscascade.com/ Its an awesome engine Pop Bumper Pete, I've yet to be next to the real thing hoping to see the #6913 in her new home in the next year or so. Mines is close in size to MTH's o scale unit at around 25" or so. I've not run it on flex track just PF or 9V tracks, I went thru 4 D-D truck designs before I found one that gave me the least gruff on exiting a normal lego radius curve. On wide long radius curves I suspect she'd run like a champ.

    LDD MOC Hi-Rail mow Semi

I've been tinkering around in LDD to mash up a moc based loosely off of 2 lego city sets 3179 utility truck for tool storage 3677 hi-rail pickup, it must be able to ride the rails But. I frankensteined that idea by adding in a bit more 3221, because I wanted it to be a semi 4205, for its rugged off road look and ended up with is!

    Radio Control Train Sets

peterab: Thats one thing I like about these 2 train sets, the batteries change out in seconds, no taking half an engine or tender apart to swap out for fresh power

    LDD MOD: 7937 Train Station

I did an LDD mod of one I was going to bash 3 of them together but it never took off, life and other MOCs have away of getting in the way.

    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

Santa (bricklink) put some parts under the tree for me. I also updated the trucks (again) these don't twist as much the others, they would derail at higher speeds exiting curves. Put the first run of the decals on the side the yellow is still off thou.... I may need a better printer for this..

LDD MOC: Winter Village Snowplow Rail Truck

I kinda agree with kyphur. I have yet to order this set but I have thought to do the same as you did Murdoch17 but I could see it maintaining downdown trolley or street car lines up here in the northwest!

    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

I've been tinkering with that thought from day one it's a bit of a hastle at the moment. I would love to have a pile of straights for it to open up in but being late to the 9v era I'm playing catch up and oly have that small oval I got from a garage sale. I could and probally will make it PF down the road but that would sacrifice some of the details at the moment with that battery box. Glad I could provide a trip down the past, I have never seen a "Big Jack" in person, but I would love to at some point they're a ways off from seeing living here in Oregon. I have family in Texas and plan to see #6913 once the Frisco museum has it out, or the next chance I get to go visit. Here's one DDA40X in my brickshelf folder of the testing of the truck design, I dont have a lot of 9v track currently waiting to see BBB's stuff or order a pile of ME's straights and larger curves when availiable. I may at some point way down the line, when she's finished, and got a least one public show under her trucks!

    MOC: Southern Pacific Daylight #4449

I have to agree with The Dutch Guy I never get tired of seeing your work! Glad that she runs great after a few mods! I hope one day you'll have instructions in your shop for it! but till then I'll settle for the real deal here in the northwest!

    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

Its 2-3 studs longer than 2 Maersk lashed up. Short Video of DD truck test http://www.brickshel...ay_22__2012.mp4 It'll have two 9v motors when finished the second one is in the mail as I type. I had planed to use 4 but haven't quite worked out how to acomplish that with an 86 stud ridgid frame yet... Thanks dr_spock !!! They can't get here fast enough, that just means I need to log out of here get off my duff and finish the decals thou !

    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

I lost count on how many hours of design and build time I've got into this project. It's been an on and off project since March and I'm still not finished but I have a 1 year deadline to make its first public showing. I've been thru 3 LDD/Ldraw drafts to finalize the design & 2 full builds this posting being the 2nd one mostly finished. The first build the backbone didn't hold up well and the orginal trucks would torque and derail very easy on standard curves. Thanks Fugazi !!! I've seen at a few 'Fest & 'Cons people using tiles to simulate the access doors in their Moc's and agree to give it some depth to break up a long flat box!

    MOC: EMD DDA40X (WIP)

It can go around standard lego curves okay the overhang is a bit on the ridculous it's 85-86 studs long overall, I'll post test video trialing the trucks when I can find it again. I modified the trucks from Chris van Lottum's GE ES44AC to make the DD trucks. While doing research for it i found my model compares closely to MTH's O-scale model in length at 25"Edit: found video

    NEW MEMBERS TRAIN TECH Registry

Hi Pat and welcome to the community! I must agree with TheBrickster on being able to slap a 9v motor on and it's ready to roll.
