    Kaliphlin Community Build- Sultan's Gate

I vote yes - The HSS seeksto map all settlements in Historica, not just the builder specific ones. Further, it promises to climb quite high in the ranks. Great builds, all!

    Modular Asian Restaurant

As I threatened earlier, I have stolen your entrance design - and while I can't match your skill, I think it turned out well. Will see if I can get it posted one of these days :)
  3. I most humbly apply for the following UoP credits for A black day Landscape design - Trees. Wall techniques - Half timbered tudor style Anthropology - Life in Avalonia Anthropology - Village scene
  4. Thank you! The yellow is quite normal for Tudor style houses in Denmark though - not lego-yellow bright, though. Thank you - and yeah, I think the fire worked out quite well Thank you - I like the "haywork" too. Someone suggested making a brick-built door... And yup - that shot turned out better than I expected! Thank you! I completely agree about the landscaping - I have a tendency to put buildings on before I wonder about landscaping - which means it often becomes a little... half hearted. Thank you, Robuko. I am honoured to have been allowed to kick off this community build :) Thank you - I do agree the walls look quite empty. And I impressed my self with the number of scenes I could put into one build. Further, I forgot to apply for UoP Credits Landscape design - Trees. Wall techniques - Half timbered tudor style Anthropology - Life in Avalonia Anthropology - Village scene
  5. Thank you - I agree about the sails - but for a first ship, I dared not. Alternative explanation: During a recent skirmish, the rigging where damaged, and have been taken down for repairs. As the Swiftsure is mainly patrolling the lake for now, the sails are of little importance, so operations have not been halted for now. Thank you - Care to be more specific about the stern? (Is that fore or aft, anyways?) Its sleek to ensure high top speed and manouverability. I'd like a sandwhich too!! Thanks - glad you like it! About the sails - yep - but for a first shipbuild I didn't dare. Thanks for the credit - That was my point too - that as a customs patrol boat, it is definitely related to shipping by sea. Thank you, ME. I am quite happy about the balista too. Oh, but when it dashes out of the fogs unseen, smugglers have no way of escaping! Thank you, sir! As I wrote above, I thought a customs patrol ship would be eliglible for shipping credits
  6. On the great lake of the Trifork, where multiple rivers meet, Beorthan has joined the vessel Swiftsure on a patrol. From the deck of the ship he greets two elven traders, approaching the city with their cargo.... The Swiftsure is a "Ship of the Isles" commisioned by the city council of the Trifork to patrol the lake, which shores the city stand on. It is larger than the typical "Ships of the Isles", but maintains the speed and grace of the smaller patrolcrafts normally travelling the narrow channels between the Mystic Isles. This was a requirement from the start, as a swift and manouverable vessel with the capacity to sail the lake, as well as the deep sea was needed. Its speed, together with the shallow draft and sleek hull, allows it to follow most other ships and boats whereever they may go to escape, while the broad fighting platforms fore and aft gives it the necessary punch in a fighting situation. Normally, its main purpose is customs and rescue duty, but if necessary, it will be able to hold its own against almost any other vessel traversing the lakes and rivers of the Trifork. The Swiftsure is rigged as a Xebec, allowing it to hoist both square and lateen sails on its long booms. Thus, with the right rigging and an experienced crew, it will be fast both before (with square sails), and when tacking close to the wind.(With lateens.) Further, it has oar propulsion, giving it great speed and manouverability in still weather. The oars are driven by three oarsmen through a clever Mitgardian gear mechanism with leg powered boost function, allowing the oarsmen to really put their backs into it when needed. At the back, a large rudder gives the vessel the necessary steering power to be effective both at high and low speeds, and allowing the Swiftsure to turn in a very short radius. Apart from its crew of well-disciplined sailors (and their experienced captain) the vessel is armed with a powerful ballista, able to fire a deadly bolt almost halfway accross the lake with reasonable precision. Any comments and critiscism is welcome. I quite liked how this one turned out, but I am always interested in improving! I would like to claim UoP Credit for "Trade and Law": "Shipping by sea/Water". May the brick be with you Bregir/Beorthan

    Freebuild: Loading the Wagon

I really like how you are making a story out of claiming and exploring your new lands - can't wait to see more! One wonders if that wagon will end up being tested in battle... You never know, with all those drow around! Brick on /Bregir

    GNAR Voting Thread

Bregir, Avalonia - My vote goes to Kaliphlin. However, I must say the bar is set high - great entries all around - it was far from an easy decision.
  9. Good to see new people forming under the Avalonian colours! Welcome
  10. *mumbles angrily* Cool build, though!
  11. Look amazing, dG. Will you be tracking it in the HSS task?

    dG Collab - Peter's Flu

Great story - really binds it all together! Great builds all around, collaborators!
  13. From the first time I saw this, I though "Ent" - its a very lifelike tree. There is a sort of brooding quality about it - as if it would rise and smack you into the next century, if you stomped on a flower! And boy, will that family have some stories to share when they are reunited in Calder!
  14. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would place this right above flipping awesome! Great build, Gabe - I don't think you should regret the mushroom like appearance as it gives it a very organic look fitting for treehugging elfies. I am especially impressed about the roundness of the thing, the landscaping and tree, as well as that gorgeous interior.
  15. Absolutely stunning - there are so many great details that I would love to see more of, including the mill and watchtower. I really like the idea of ruins of a long lost civilisation, especially with all the secretive treehuggers (elfies) running around Avalonia. Also, your take on the black ships and plague story is great - and I can't wait to see what the outcome of the challenge will be! Was there really a plague? And will the drow be driven back? And what is the story about these black ships? Are they related to the plague? And much more! :)

Ch II: DG Collab: Cat B: The reunion

Great wrap up to a great collab. The minifig posing is so very dramatic, and I love the use of CMF bases for roof - I have been looking for a use for them for a long time!
  17. Is there NOWHERE to go to escape this BLOODY WORLD CUP?!? *Prepares for hailstorm from angry fans*
  18. Pff! Its not like an arms race ever led to war!
  19. Hi there, I just checked the rules (I just checked, and I have 6 pics myself! Hadn't noticed the rule ), and it goes like this: "Entries are to consist of no more than 5 posted pictures of 800x600 or smaller resolution but may also include a link to a folder of additional images of any size. You can have a video instead of a photo if you want. You may post one entry with up to 10 pictures. It can be from any one category." As I read it, up to ten pictures are ok for one entry, which means you can probably add more pics to yours and that the rest are still valid (given they have no more than 10 pictures). Marshall from HIMYM would say "You have been Lawyered!" - But alas, I am not a lawyer... and hardly certain of my interpretation! I'd like to know if I should remove one of my pics, or if I have interpreted the rules correctly, as I too would be hard pressed to get it all in.... /Bregir
  20. I think I forgot to post my entry here... So here it is - deGothia, cat. B: A black day It is the first in our big collab build for the deGothia side, about a family driven by their home and divided by the rumoured plague. Best of luck to all! So many great builds out there, I must say.
  21. I am happy to see the map updated. Only regret is that the main roads are not displayed, and that the rivers are changed compared to the original map. That rerouting seems to take away some of the trading potential of the Trifork!
  22. I felt exactly the same when I joined recently! :D Brick on, Dalph

    [GNAR] Nocturnian Patrol Boat

Great build, and great backstory to go with it! I am loving the brickbuilt hull and the swamp! :) Brick on!
  24. I'd like to claim credit for "Trade and Law": "Shipping by sea/Water" for my customs patrol craft, The Switsure.
  25. Hereby my entry to the GNAR, an Avalonian Ship of the Isle: The Swiftsure Good luck to all! /Bregir out
