  1. Sure. I glue each knot in the lines to prevent anything from coming undone.
  2. Who knows . . . maybe we need a water background next at a realistic water line Sails for sure. Shrouds should probably be black, but i went with the tan for cosmetic reasons. So much black on the ship already, just thought it looked better. As for the 4624 tire center, it is twice as thick and larger in diameter than the shim I used. I think the shims look much more realistic than any other alternative. Price was not the issue because those tan shims were very spendy in the quantities I needed. After getting your comment I mocked up one shroud line with 4624s just to see, the shims looked much better. Not sure, what you mean by slim shrouds. Thanks for the comments.
  3. Rigging is coming along.
  4. Still working on rigging. It's slow going. I keep trying things and changing them. I'll get an update photo in the next few weeks.
  5. Still working. Not enough progress for new photos. I have been working on the standing rigging and on some of the detail on the main deck.
  6. More progress. Time to get serious about rigging.
  7. Still working on this project. Thanks for the compliments. This is really my first serious project as an adult. I'll get some new pictures up when I make a little more progress.
  8. Quick update. Working on spars and rigging. New pictures coming soon.
  9. Yes I will. That is the net big challenge - rigging and masts No. That would have been extremely challenging while making he ship rigid enough to be moved.
  10. Not much progress over the last couple months, I've been busy. But, here are a couple of cross view pictures showing the interior.
  11. A shot showing the ship separated into the three pieces. The fully fitted decks are visible.
  12. Current picture with masts basically in place and working on bowsprit.
  13. More pictures coming soon. Designing the masts and the attachments for the necessary fixed rigging has been a bugger while trying to figure out how to make the ship movable in the future.
  14. Thanks for the compliments. Working on Masts. What you see in the pictures were mock-ups to get an idea of the proper height of each section. They are being replaced with the final masts now.
  15. Several questions about how easy this ship is to move. It separates into three parts. The structure turned out extremely durable and strong. Although they are getting very heavy, I can pick up each of the three parts and easily move them around. No concerns about collapse or breaking. Right from the bottom I built everything very durable thinking I would need to move it eventually. As I work on the masts I am considering how to break them down for moving because I expect sooner or later the ship will be making some rides in a car.
  16. Photos of the Orlop Deck. Had to combine the hold and Orlop given the overall design. Photos include the Hold (hard to see) full of stores, surgeon at work, carpenter area, anchor line storage, powder room, pursuer's store, and brig (with a prisoner).
  17. Another early photo. With the brickbuilt hull, nearly every section was built and rebuilt several times.
  18. Here is a picture from the very early construction.
  19. I'll add some interior pictures soon.
  20. In minifig Scale, the Imperial Flagship would have been a very small ship, maybe a corvette/sloop or similar class.
  21. I am starting to think about sails, masts, yards, and rigging. For years I have been perusing the various ships on this site along with others I found to get ideas for these aspects of the ship. If anyone would care to offer ideas and links to pictures for masts, spars, rigging that would suit the scale of this ship, I would appreciate it. Thanks. I am also trying to figure out the best configuration for the large lamps on the rear of the ship. I have probably settled in on the design used on the Le Fourageux, but I am open to ideas. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Blackmoor/Fourageux/Extra/ship_accessoires004.jpg Thanks.
  22. The interior of the ship is fully fitted out. I have photos of every deck and every room as the ship was constructed, both before the cross bracing was installed and after. If anyone wants to see photos of anything in particular, just ask and I'll post them.
  23. Still working. Here are the latest.
  24. Still working. Just about ready to put on the poop deck. Captain's cabin and dining room are detailed and complete. I added a treasure room on the quarter deck next to the Captain's dining room, just could not resist. Looking forward to the boats, the poop deck detail, and then onto the masts and sails. Thanks for the ideas and comments on this website. They have been invaluable. Interesting idea on the three by three cannon ports. I ran some numbers and they seem to scale too large at 3x3. Admittedly the 2x2 scale a little small, but I think on balance and considering the extra effort associated with making everything else work with 3x3s (cannon placement and overall lineup), the 2x2s were the right decision. I built a mock-up hull with 3x3 ports and it just didn't look as good as the 2x2s on the mock-up.
