I made a LEGO Star Wars micro chess set using the microfigures from the awesome new Battle of Hoth gameset: The only catch is that there is no Princess Leia microfigure for the Rebel Queen:(
-
Thanks for your excellent suggestions Mister Quidditcher! I was thinking of using the Hogwarts Hermione Granger Microfig as the imperial queen. Leia is indeed a problem - The Lego Champion Female Microfigs would work in a Return of the Jedi themed chess set though.
-
I'm also working on a LEGO Star Wars Micro Chess Set:
-
I understand that there is no LEGO Star Wars Chess yet due to licensing issues with Hasbro. Anyone know more about this issue?
-
I already did, but an official set would be nice:
-
My 7-year old son and his friends are crazy about playing the LEGO SW Chess MOCs I made for him.
-
Would a SW Chess set with theming and microfigs from the Battle of Hoth gameset have a better chance at being made by TLG?
-
So if you have to build your chess set that could technically pass the loophole?
-
Thank you Mr Man! I totally agree
-
Thank you.

Could you please delete that one? I had no option to modify the title or delete the topic (the original topic was more of a question whether anyone had done something like this MOC). Thanks Fuppylodders! I hope TLG releases this as an affordable series with unique configurations for every Star Wars episode. Thank you JackJonespaw! For now I've ended up with doubled Lukes and Vaders as the King and Queen for each side. More Star Wars microfigs to choose from would indeed be awesome.
-
Thanks - I used two sets (for doubling the unique microfigures from each set).
-
Please explain why?
-
Sorry about that - I thought it was great that someone had thought of this idea before and evinced demand for such a set. And you're entitled to your opinion but the LEGO Star Wars chess set IS very special for my 6 year old son (and his friends) which is all that matters to me:) He wouldn't be playing chess so eagerly otherwise - it's a great hook to get young kids started playing chess. I have tried to find the best balance of simplicity, affordability, good looks and fun gameplay in the mix of pieces for this set. If you're looking for something totally awesome, let's hope Brandon Griffith turns his Star Wars sets into a LEGO CUUSOO project:

I've updated the LEGO CUUSOO Star Wars Chess Set configuration based on feedback from Eurobricks forum members: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/131

Thanks, I was desperate for Imperial knights with easily affixed means of transport:) I might just use Boba Fett as the knights.
-
Should I have the Knights ride Tauntauns/Kaadus? Which side where? Help please! (The Knights on the Rebel side are Luke and Han)
-
Thanks for your support KimT! I totally understand about the thread consolidation:) Supported BaronSat's Bantha too. I've also updated my Lego CUUSOO project description to reflect the help of the Eurobricks forum members.

You and rogueang are right about the price. While it would still sell well at $120/$140 it would be a blockbuster at $100. I took the LEGO Star Wars Chess Set (housed in a old LEGO Vikings chess box and board) on a transatlantic flight last week. It was quite playable as there are only minifigs in the set. The light-sabers kept falling off though. A lot of people on the flight asked if it was available as a official LEGO set.

Very nice idea (also suggested by Legoman273 earlier)! This way I can get both Han and Luke into the game while the tauntauns provide enough of a similarity between the two knights (Han will be the knight next to Leia). Thanks so much for all the helpful comments - keep them coming.
-
Yes, they had me drooling too! I'm aiming for a more humble, functional design (tested by my kids!) that will hopefully be priced below $70 if made by TLG.
-
Wow, many thanks for the wonderful and expert feedback - keep it coming! I'll make changes to the set configuration based on this.
