I like this a lot. Especially the tiled floors, the window shutters, and the detail work in things like the storage cabinet in the piano room. It looks really impressive. Thanks for sharing!

Hahaha! I've ordered a whole bunch of stuff from BL from different stores this year and the color variation across the bricks has been noticeable - particularly the Brown I used in this MOC, but especially the Yellow. Everyone elses MOCs look impeccable and for a while I was wondering what to do with this one, but then I decided not to worry about it too much because it looked more lifelike with the variety. At one stage I was even half-tempted to create some graffiti stickers and slap them all around the MOC, but I thought that that was too much. Thanks for the kind comments.

2012 was the first year back since emerging from the dark ages in December of 2011 (curse you heavily discounted Alien Invader Tripod set at Wallyworld) and so it's been a hectic "buy set-build something else-order from BL-patiently wait for delivery-and-repeat" cycle. What I have noticed is that my earliest MOCs from 2012 now look so primitive that I'm raiding them for pieces. But I'm getting better and this forum has been an excellant resource and full of like-minded people who are so helpful and friendly. I'm beginning to cut back on the Buy side, but I'm still building an evening or two or week and checking this site daily for inspiration. So my motto for 2013 is probably going to be 'raid more, build more, until happy with the result (and must cut back on BL ordering)'

Yep, ditto but I also have a problem with Bricklink orders. I know I need x of a specific piece, but I'll end up buy x+y just to be safe and then I'll buy z further (currently un-needed) different pieces so that the postage doesn't make up a huge proportion of the overall Invoice. Then I'll discover that I need z+y different pieces and I'll have to place another BL order for z+y+c different pieces and b new different pieces for the postage problem.... I need help - professional help, but luckily here at eurobricks I know I'm surrounded by people just like me with the same issue. My name is eurotrash and I have a problem

I really like the colour combination and some good design thoughts have gone into it. The only thing I was wondering was what it would look like if you changed the shape of the porch roof over the front door and maybe try just a simple 45 deg slope rather than the compound slopes you have in the pictures. I like this a lot and thank you for sharing it with us!

B-OV-39E <Takes deep breath> Here's my first published MOC on Eurobricks. I had purchased the Apple Tree House last year, but felt it was lacking in something, but I couldn't put my finger on exactly what. Then I had a chance to visit my closest Lego Shop and grap a whole bunch of 2 x 2 Trans Clear Panels. Bingo! I'd build a greenhouse for the original Creator Kit. I hadn't seen too many other Lego MOC Greenhouses and had nothing to go on, so after a bit of trial and error and a Bricklink order to fill in the missing hinges this is what I came up with. The roof isn't physically attached to the base, but the Minifig is very busy at work inside looking after the young plants But he's got to be careful of the Triffid in the corner! Hope you like it! Let me know what improvements I could make to it. eurotrash

MOC/MOD: ES co. Retro Steam Locomotive
eurotrash replied to Electricsteam's topic in LEGO Train Tech
My thoughts exactly! The Train looks fantastic, but that minifig definitely has to go..... -
Dang! I'd forgotten about the cheese - I was looking for a stack of Trans Slope 45 1 x 2, but they seemed so expensive The Brown and Tan building in the background is a WIP for an old half timbered house. It still needs some fettling and an interior, but it's coming along. Thanks for everyone's comments!

I've just managed to pick up a 4193 The London Escape at a 44% discount with free shipping from a large on-line retailer in the US. There's bargains out there - you've just got to keep looking..... -
I looked at the first picture and thought that was an interesting color choice for the front of the engine. Then I read the rest of the post and had to go back to that first picture. What an ingenious positioning of the motor.

MOC: Hidamari Apartments from "Hidamari Sketch!"
eurotrash replied to Modulex Guy's topic in LEGO Town
It looks really good - and very close to the sourceI I like the fact that you've used a whole bunch of 1 x 2 bricks to make the walls rather than larger bricks or panels as it definitely gives it a concrete block feel to it. Thanks for sharing! -
Modular + ebay instructions + wheres all my money gone?
eurotrash replied to funkdis's topic in LEGO Town
I've got the 4554 and, like you, was wondering what to do with it. It didn't really fit in with the MOCs I've got and it just looks 'old', small and primitive when compared to the current Modulars, and it looks very, very yellow. So I built a modern waiting room extension onto it, raised the height up a couple of bricks (DrkGrey at the base so that it looks more industrial), changed the doors to a taller door, extended the roof line and made it deeper. It still needs some internal finishing, but it looks way better and more in keeping with the current Lego design ethos. Here's a couple of quick pics but I think it's definitely worth re-engineering some of the older structures to make them look like they belong in the current layouts. -
The brick engineering in the coupling is very nicely done. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I just got back from my closest Lego Store (Kansas City, about 2 hours away) and managed to grab/stuff/pack the following into two PAB Large Cups ($14.99 +tax each). 93 @ 1 x 2 Bricks, Modified Log 57 @ 1 x 2 Tile, Mod Grille 80 @ 1 x 2 Trans Clear Bricks 77 @ Trans Clear 1 x 2 x 2 Panels 121 @ 2 x 2 Yellow Tiles 137 @ 2 x 2 Red Tiles 35 @ 1 x 8 Red Tiles 12 @ 4 x 4 Yellow Plates, 4 @ 4 x 6 Yellow Plates 52 @ 1 x 4 Lt Gray Bricks 12 @ 1 x 10 White Brick 24 @ 1 x 16 White Bricks ....and to fill up all the gaps around my carefully packed structures 630 Trans Clear 1 x 1 Round So, #488 Bricks in one cup and #846 in the other for a total of 1334 pieces costing $30. Win! Chris p.s. Despite it being a busy Saturday the Store's associates were really helpful about suggesting different packing strategies :)

Neil from Scumbag College! I've just spilled coffee over my desk laughing at that one.... Excellant MOC by the way...
-
It looks fantastic and my only minor comment would be about the deck planking - it might look better if it all ran parallel to the ships side and had some overlaps rather than some pieces being at right angles to the rest. But what a beautiful vignette and thanks for sharing it with us

Kinetic is exactly the right word! It's an impressive enough MOC, but the sense of an explosion being captured mid-event is what sets it apart.

Thanks for sharing! There's some really nice details in there...
