MOC: The Blue Eyed Maid and a little tattoo shop :)
eurotrash replied to oirad 72's topic in LEGO Town
Fantastic job mate! It's good to see some old school windows being used and that facade is excellent - you've really captured the essence of the place. I love the floors - NPU for those headlight bricks. (and coincidently I've had many, many lunchtime drinks in that Pub as it was very close to where I worked near London Bridge back in the mid-80's, but I'm certain it wasn't purple then) -
Terrible, terrible pun <groan> The building looks realistic and it would be a fine addition to any skeevy district in a Lego town.

Well played!

Another fine build LT. Keep 'em coming.

The train has good clean lines - looks good! The Station is lovely. Good luck at the exhibition.
-
Superb! The attention to detail is amazing, the interiors fantastic and the whole thing screams "QUALITY BUILD"

Great looking grille. Heck, the whole thing's awesome!

Nice job and that gold tooth was a lovely detail.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
eurotrash replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Unlikely because the lack of frontage, but here's two links First, a discussion on the subject and an image of a good looking inverted corner for the Grand Emporium http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74134&hl=%22inside+corner%22 And second, the BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT EVER! And it's also an inverted corner! http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=90594 (it's also what kickstarted my obsession with building a Chinatown district, so thanks Hobbython for that) -
Blimey! It's another incredible creation. Are there any vessels you can't do?

Dang! You have a much deeper desire to eat beans than I do, but I tip my hat to you. Ker-ching! -
Old Chinese Pharmacy My Lego town has undergone a bit of a rebuild - most of the official Modulars have been recycled back into inventory and the Chinatown district is expanding. So, here's a 16-wide build of a Pharmacy. I wanted an ornate facade with plenty of details, but I also wanted some decay and cracked masonry. The roof tile color is taking some getting used to, but it's definitely growing on me. Here's a close up of the details of the entrance door. The Ground floor has an interior But it's best seen without the rear and sidewalls. There are cabinets with drawers, decanters filled with strange liquids, a massive potted plant in the corner, and crystals. One final shot of the front. It's a quick fun build and I'm happy with the results (even the roof color) Comments, criticism and ridicule most welcome!

Great example of comparative technique. Excellent reviews!

LOL! Pants-free Brick, that's going to be my new superhero name. Anyway, virtually all my stuff is taken outside. Sometimes it works really well Sometimes you've got to watch for those really long shadows Sometimes you discover an insect has walked onto your MOC http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=83562 But it's always different. Try it and embrace the outside Cheers, it was a quick fun build. Sometimes it's just nice to build without anything specific in mind and without a deadline to meet.
-
Was it the Blue Pig bath in the background?, or the Winter-ravaged bare trees? I take all of my stuff outside, because I don't have enough space inside. I had a whole bunch left over from an earlier (failed) project. They're difficult to use in quantity. but I was running out of regular Tan bricks so I decided to use just the edges. I kinda like it. This entire build was a scrap build from inventory hence some of the color choices (Yay! Lime Green roof!) Do it! Chinatown is such a rich theme and style to build in - and with the Palace Theatre and Detective Office there's already two close enough with mods to start with. I think my first was the Chu Nail Salon http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=98216 but whatever you build remember to share it here with us.

Thanks LT, but those herbal teas you've been drinking have made you confuse dr_spock with me Good call AirborneAFOL. I'll make that change when I get my BL order in to fix the roof color - I'm thinking Sand Green.
-
Another cracking good build snaillad! You've really captured that coastal Art Deco vibe.
-
I like it, although doing it in 8-wide looks a bit big scale-wise. I did my purple one as a 7-wide and I used the same wheels as you and they seem realistic. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=96636

I agree and I might also be tempted to eliminate the studs appearing at the base of the windows by changing the underlying brick to a tile. That way the windows are only attached at their top (it's a bit flimsy, but it looks so much better) Either way this is a good looking MOC and I like it.
-
Here's my set up. Like many AFOLs I've struggled with developing a useful Storage solution to the inventory. What I've finally got is an approach that separates the elements by 'type' (plates, tiles, bricks, vegetation, technic pieces, brackets, panels, etc.) and then by color if there's too many of them to fit in one container. As the inventory increases or decreases then I'll adjust the approach. By keeping them in roughly the same position relative to my worktop then I know where they are without too much looking. The drawers are also removable from their containers so if I know I need a bunch of elements (e.g. shorter 2x plates browns, blacks and grays stored on the top right) then I just remove that drawer and use it.

Good looking interiors and I particularly like the tiled walls effect in the Fishmongers - very realistic.

NPU on those chairs!

The Old one has risen!

I'm not too sure I'd be getting my ink done there but it's a good looking scene.

I'd be more concerned about the hole in the bottom of the tank myself. I like the build - it's well proportioned and that hand cart is a neat and effective design.
