From the first blurry picture my initial thoughts were: this looks like Ninjago + Bionicle? Then I scrolled down and saw the better resolution images and I don't know what to think. I guess the bat guy's head mold looks kinda cool. I'll be interested in seeing what the actual builds look like besides these little bike spinning things.

Wow, looks just as awesome as the dwarves we were shown at Comic-Con. They're doing such a good job on the minifigures!

This is exciting news! I really enjoyed the old western theme. I expect that we'll get some different colored horses (which would be great). I wonder how this theme will affect the upcoming Cuusoo decision from the summer review?

Just because the film ends earlier doesn't mean you can assume LEGO will change its product lineup with such a short amount of time to go (assuming the rumored set list is accurate).

Woo! Awesome minifig. My only complaint is that he has too much gold on him. It would have been nice if they had printed on the arms to offset some of that or given him a silver sword (as mentioned above). I'm assuming that when we get an elf set from The Hobbit we'll see those swords again.

The female character (that I believe was confirmed on Lego's twitter) could be from The Hobbit. If the rumored set list is to be believed it could be Tauriel in the elf set. Then again I still think we'll get another wave of LotR at some point.

Judging by Peter Jackson's typical movies, it doesn't seem like he can make a movie that is shorter than 3 hours (not that I'm complaining): more content for Lego sets!

From a film perspective I am disappointed ... but from a Lego perspective I'm super excited at the possibility of even more sets!

Is that going to be a minifigure in the set? This is closer to what I was hoping the series 8 fairy would look like.

I think 4 figs for $40 is way too much for an army builder. As everyone else has said, getting 6 figs and a horse for $30 is a much better option for an army builder.

Wow that is amazing! Great job in incorporating the rock work surrounding the structure!

I do think that it looks a little like Gil-Galad but I am highly doubtful that it's him because he only appears in the extended version. Though based on this image it is more likely Elrond (note the pendant and partial chain shirt on his chest). I guess the fact that the minifigure is holding a spear is what made me think that it might be Gil-Galad. Elrond is on the left and Gil-Galad is on the right.

It's hard to tell but to me it looks like the same gladius that Nori is holding.

Remember, we always have a skewed perspective because we're AFOLs. My guess is that if a child was presented with a Rohan soldier polybag or a Frodo polybag they'll pick the Frodo polybag, especially if their parents don't want to spend more money to get an actual set (granted, this example works somewhat poorly since the set with Frodo is the cheapest ).

After seeing those pictures I'm a lot less disappointed in the fairy. I like the face print and the skirt piece is better than the "hula girl" skirt that I was expecting.

Based on past series I'll guess that several will have alternate head prints but most wont. On another note, should we be expecting a trans-purple minifig head to go into the Alien the same way the AQ one had a trans-green head?

I'm very excited that we finally got some pictures and it seems like that list was accurate! My thoughts on each figure: 1) Alien - Looks alright, I really like the brain/jello piece on the head and it will be nice to get in a different color 2) Cowgirl - I was hoping for a western cowgirl (tan/brown clothing) rather than a more modern, rodeo style cowgirl but I'll probably get one for the hat/hair mold combination 3) Santa - Pretty excited to get a real Santa rather than some weird pirate guy, love the hat mold and the gift sack! 4) Conquistador - Looks awesome! I've always liked those helmets and now we get them in gold, and with gold armor! I'll be getting a couple for sure 5) Bavarian Boy - The new pretzel piece is awesome, the figure doesn't excite me but I like the forestman hat in that color (is it dark green or brown?) 6) Cheerleader - I never got a chance to get the original one so I'll get this for the pompoms 7) Diver - Amazing helmet mold, I will definitely pick one up! Funny that they gave him 1x1 plates to stand on 8) Football Player - I was hoping they would make an actual football piece that he could hold, the trophy is nice but they made the wrong call 9) Pirate - Nice torso printing but otherwise I'm not really interested 10) Fairy - Not quite what I was hoping for but I still like it, I'll definitely grab a couple, especially for the wings (but I really don't like that hair) 11) Businessman - The black bowler hat is all he has going for him 12) Actor - Great figure with an awesome neck piece! 13) Robot - As with the cheerleader, I never got a chance to get this guy so I'll be getting one for the great helmet! 14) DJ - That headphone/hair combination piece looks awesome and I'm sure we'll get it in another color in a future series 15) Bat Monster - I really wanted these guys when I saw the vampire castle but didn't want to pay that much just to get them. This one is great and I'll be getting a bunch! I also really like his face printing and I think its better than the one in the castle set 16) Skier - It's nice that they released another skier but I'm not really interested in her

Wow, what a wonderful set! They did a great job capturing the quaint/homey aspect of a hobbit hole The printed brown door looks great and, as others above me have said, there is very likely a light brick in the set (+1 in my book). It looks like a $60 set but I could see them selling it between $60 and $80. A printed Thorin's map is a nice piece (that I didn't consider but is obvious to include) and naturally Bombur is nomming on a sausage Overall this set looks like a winner to me, can't wait to see the insides and the rest of the Hobbit sets!
