Apparently Megablocks is getting in on the pirates actions, but the figures are more sized and akin to the 4+ or even Mini-Mates Figure sizes. How..odd. http://www.megabloks.com/en/products/brows...subCat=25&lId=0 Akkh

Having opened my MISB 6286....you can guess what my answer will be. As the box wasn't in the finest shape, it was more than worth the extra bit to me to actually get all of the pieces in non chewed, folded, or mutilated condition. Then again, I've just had lousy luck with seciond hand lego lately. Akkh

Emperor's Ship Pic Review
Akkhraziel replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Not really. I gave it a passing comment back when we were first sorta assembling a moc compilation page in the castle/pirate forum. (Mocs to share from circa May 4, 2005) I loved what he did with it then, and still do. Akkh -
Emperor's Ship Pic Review
Akkhraziel replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Reaching back into the way back machine, our very own Ed_dotcom had this posted in his Bricklink gallery, a fusion of at least two (perhaps with a few extra bricks) of the emperor's ship. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=117361 Akkh -
Favorite Adventure Boat
Akkhraziel replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I went with the Emporer's ship. i always loved the design, and the fact it has jingasa/rice hats for the mf's. Hmmm...this means I'm agreeing with Phes. I think I just heard the 477th seal of the apocalypse open. Akkh -
This may have been posted elsewhere, and is most certainly somewhere on brickiling, but still, for those who might not have seen it http://www.ezprezzo.com/crazypics/lego_aircraft_carrier.html Thats just amazing. Kudo's to that builder.

Very possibly; Marvel licensing recently underwent many shifts. In the non-brick based toy world, Marvel ended its contract with Toy Biz early and switched over to Hasbro, and appears to bve lookintg to hasbro to market many many6 products for them. Its entirely likely that the Lego-Marvel license was not extended. Hrm, might see if Mega Bloks license with Marvel stuff is up, too. Akkh

MegaBloks Pyrates is better than LEGO 4+ Pirates
Akkhraziel replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
It was mainly the really early stuff, the 1997-98 vintage MB stuff that had...spotty quality control. Which is to say, the plast ic was pretty darn bad. Its improved in leaps and bounds since then. Akkh -
Lego: 7016 7017 Andother Hippogryph little HP set (Mmmm...flying mounts.) And a stealth Hunter from the Exo-Force Line. Clothes, the ususal stuff, I won't bore you with the details. No vidoegames this year but I don't mind, I'm still finishing one from my birthday. All in all, some lovely little sets, and a wonderful holiday. Akkh

Having talked to a good number of you in chat, with the occasional prodding of "what are you are working on" I am pleased to announce that I successfully defended my Undergraduate Thesis today. Now to make a couple of revisions and get it bound. Freedome. Precious, Horrible Freedom !!! Akkh

Very nice, and thank you for such wonderful pics. This seals it, I have to get this one. Akkh

:-D For many moons and many suns now, I've been working hard on my Senior Honors Thesis. Yesterday, I went before the review board and defended my work, meaning in essence that now I just have to make a few revisions and clean up a couple of things and then get it printed and bound. It also means I'll graduate now. Long ago in the chat, back when we still had one ;) , I'd often get asked by Sne, Yoda, and Bloody Jay what I was doing/working on. I've been working on this project for a long time, and its finally through. I am quite pleased. Thank you all for the kind wishes and encouraging words, I hope everyone has a happy holidays as well. How long is the poll going to go for ? After Christmas I might have more empirical evidence to sawy my opinion ;) Akkh

I've heard the show is entertaining, but haven't seen it for myself. Moreover, I've heard that the show is *very* popular, one particular number that cropped up was a 3.6 in its time slot, which far outpaced the competition. (If memory serves, 3.6 is the millions of household according to Nielsen sampling data. While such data always is just that, a sampling, market share is valued very heavily in advertising and other suvch things. What the long and short of this message is, it seemed to be one of the most watched cartoons in the market today.) If they had to pick a license, this one seems very promising both in potiential sets and in brining in an audience. Besides, I'm unlikely to argue with anything that gets me more ninja/oriental adventures-esque sets. Akkh

Darkie, Very nice. At first the white washed walls looked a little bright to me, but after cycling through the pics again, it had grown on me. I like the roof design, and opening them up gives us a nice gander as to the details you put on the interior. On the whole, its those details hat give it life. In many ways, it reminds me of a section out of one of the local renn faires (which is not a bad thing ;) ). All in all, very nice, and thanks for showing us the pics. Akkh

As per the topic and topic description, a massive sale on lego. Limited to stock in store, but At least two locations in the Us were running the sale. For those without a TRU near them: As far as online love goes, they are offering a 25% off all Lego sets. Mmmm....discounted Lego. Akkh
-
I went the other route, and picked up the Viking Fortress and Dino Attack Helicopter. My wife then sent me out of the store and picked up a few more sets. Akkh

Citing that the Trojan war is generally accepted to have happened in some form or fashion, as well as even critiqued for lack of proper supplies and proper planning by Thucydides in The History of the Peloponnesian War, its not too much of a stretch to state that some sort of Trojan War happened historically. Which is to say, the Trojan War as a theme could be either, and as TLG seems to like fantastic elements, its a decent bet this would be a theme they might look at if were were to get a Greek theme. Of course, I'd kill for a Chian siege set, but I know I'm pretty much the only one. Akkh

Just a note. Assuming that Lego operates in the same way that most other toys operate, his actuions weren't actually hurting Lego too much, for Target had already paid the Lego corporation for them when they ordered them in the first place, which is why Target was so intent on persuing the fraudulent activity. THat said, it can have other stange effects on the supply and demand pipeline, the most notable example being that Target probably restocked those sets heavily in that area as the computer system would have tracked a major demand. Looking at the Target black Friday sales ad, I have to wonder a little bit. ( Black Friday is the colloquial name for the Day after Thanksgiving in America, the major kickoff for the holiday shopping season. Target ran a special sale on the Millenium Falcon Lego set, offering it for $50.00) All that said, as for how they might have caught him: Target has implemented an inventory database that is tied to the scanners at the front. Quite literally, in some areas, if you check out an item at the front of the store, it keeps tabs on how many should be in inventory. That said, it is likely they use that system to track what a store ought to have made versus what it did make. It would take some effort, but when a store profit margin is off by a large enough degree to get flagged, it could easily happen. Chances are good they were probably checking to make sure an employee wasn't skimming somewhere. Akkh

Thanks Brickster. Thats the first time I've gotten to see multiple views of the Armada Flagship. After getting a chance to see it from many angles, its going on my list of sets to get. Akkh
