Post about Cartoons and Anime you like
Dwellington replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I hope I'm not the only person here looking forward to Transformers Prime starting up again in February? Between Prime and that thing with the horses, the Hub has a good thing going for itself. ... ( .) -
Aw, yeah! I think it could use a couple red tiles or plates on the ground, to simulate puddled blood. Just a touch at the Black Kight's feet and where his arms landed. Nicely done.

Rivendell for Fellowship of the Ring, with frescoes for level selection. Edoras for Two Towers, with tapestries. The citadel of Minas Tirith for Return of the King, with...something else.

Oh God that's terrifying. Meanwhile, from Tolkien's own text: Saruman's tower, in proper scale, would be just underneath that bridge on the Petronas Towers. Poor guy had some mad tower envy going on.

What they basically ended up doing is scientifically proving that "today's modern little girl" really is all about fashion and friendship and pink. The problem with this, though, is that these "modern little girls" are all inundated with pretty princesses in pretty much all of their other media and toy outlets. I'm not sure if any of the studies Lego did gathered any information on outside influences. Is the stereotype really ingrained in some nigh-biological connection between prepubescent females and pretty ponies? What about the Barbie empire, or peer pressure from other girls, or Overly Concerned Parents who refuse to buy their daughters boy-oriented toys? What if there's some kind of sick, twisted cycle that girls' toys got trapped in, that they can't ever get out of? From some of those articles, it seems like TLC was only focusing on the little girl mindset in relation to Lego, ignoring the context of that mindset.

I do? Oh, I do! Thanks. While I'm crawling through the archived quests, I'm wondering, are there specific spells with specific effects, or is it just elemental damage? And what about non-combat scenarios?

Aberforth Swindle flaps into Gnomeo's shop, picks out a bedroll, and drops 5 gold onto the counter. "Thank you, that will be all." Swindle flaps back out.
-
Swindle fishes around in his cloak, and pulls out a small purple medallion. "This belonged to my old teacher, Barty Cudgel. He got a little funny in the head. Then he tried tampering with the fabric of the cosmos. I can still remember the smell..." Swindle's eyes glaze over for a minute. "Anyways, while I was sweeping up the ashes, I found this. I believe it has practical applications that go beyond mere 'necromancy.' In any case, as a magical amplifier it's pretty potent. I can assure you I'll be a good little boy. If you ever see me reanimating corpses, or buying skull-themed jewelry, or cackling, I'll let you personally take me down." He stuffs the medallion back into his cloak, doffs his hat, and turns to the others. "Well, gentlemen, it looks like I'm your mage. I'll have a few things to prepare before we set out, but I'll do what I can to lend magical assistance and foresight to our endeavor."
-
I am a sucker for purple, yeah. Funnily enough, I don't think I actually have a purple gemstone in my collection.

Hello everyone! I've chosen Amethyst in case of bandits or evil gangs of other dudes that aren't necessarily straight-up monsters. I figure as long as there aren't any demons around I'll be fine! (Watch as now there are like five hundred demons all over the place...)

Swindle takes a step back from Guts, lowering his eyes. He bows and takes off his hat. "Be at ease, kind Mister Guts! I can't speak for all of my wizardly peers, but I am a man of peace. I would not magic anyone who wasn't well deserving of it." Putting his hat back on, he nods at Guts, Dak, and Knifk, while he sidles over to Sarick. "This is a fine company. I have full confidence this venture will go smoothly. Well met, all of you! Especially you, Mister Sarick, my good snake. Man. Snake-man. Heheh." Swindle doffs his hat nervously at Sarick, clearly unused to the company of Nagas.

An old man steps into the Hall. It is clear from his attire that he is some kind of wizard, but he lacks a certain...gravitas. He doesn't seem to walk so much as stamp, as though he were trying to squash invisible bugs underfoot. He approaches the Quest Board, and makes note of Quest #20. "Who else is going off to these mines?" He asks, "I am Aberforth Swindle, the great Wizard of the West, and while I am interested in joining this venture, I am very old, and would like to get to know my fellow adventurers better."

Hello everybody! I'm Dwellington. Pleasure to meet you all. I'm an animation buff and an action figure collector by trade, but I've been slowly returning to Lego over this past year. I mean, I've never NOT loved Lego, or seeing what clever and amazing stuff people can come up with, but I stopped buying new sets for myself some years ago. Pharaoh's Quest brought me back, since I dig me some ancient Egypt, and then I discovered I missed an entire line of Trolls and Goblins and Dwarfs...still kicking myself about that. Anyway, in my search for information about Castle sets, and reviews of the Kingdoms and Prince of Persia lines, I found this place, and I've been dropping by sporadically for the past like five months. It's only now that I've realized I come here enough that I might as well hop aboard. I, ah, can't think of much else to say. I'm not a particularly skilled builder, but I'm sure that'll change while I'm here. I'm into Ye Olden Times kinda themes, and really jazzed about Lord of the Rings. I look forward to tons of fun with you guys!

The four Princes of Persia staring at me from the other side of my desk tell me that they probably won't care too much if we wind up with extra main characters...

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
Dwellington replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you for that feeling guide, SilvaShado! Now I just have to wait for all the Series 5's to clear out of my area. At my TRU, they've removed them from the boxes and just have this big endcap tub full of them, AND a wall of pegs at the Megablocks endcap. It's seriously the most blind-bags I've ever seen in one place... If my local Target doesn't pull through, I'm not getting any of these things until like February. -
You know what we need? You know what we REALLY need? We need a Lego Tom Bombadil.
-
I've seen a lot of Lego Pokemon, but this is by far the strongest design. If you can, you should totally try to ball-joint him. And then make a Brock minifig or something.
-
I think the roof and the archway are my favorite parts. This is amazing!
-
We need more Lego siege weaponry, man... It looks pretty fierce. What's the range on it?
-
The easiest way for TLC to get us a complete and affordable set of Ringwraiths would be a Flight to the Ford "battle pack": -Three Ringwraiths -Three black horses with horse armor -Arwen -White horse -Frodo with a double-sided head (normal face/sickly face) -Like, a rock or a bush or something That would be really rad.

VIP Exclusive 850458 LEGO® Minifigures set
Dwellington replied to Thego's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I completely missed the first 3 series, so I'm just glad to have the chance to get some of these figures at not-crazy-aftermarket prices. To me, this suggests that anything with a particularly expensive unique accessory or part would be automatically disqualified, since I can imagine things like, say, the Spartan's helmet being difficult to produce. I'd say that they would've done better to just not include those certain figures in the poll, but perhaps it's possible they're going to keep the results as a point of reference for the future? Maybe further down the road they can do some other limited edition? I dunno. In any case, I can finally get my hands on an Elf, so yay. -
Well, I couldn't find any photos of the actual prop, but here's the scene from the movie: It looks like metal to me, but it is a very kind of bronze color. Unless that's just the lighting... Regardless of the color, it's still quite accurate, and very impressive!

I love his wizard hat tongue. That's really clever. Awesome build!
