Heroica RPG - Quest #20: Missing Minerals!

Swindle magics the Brigand from the back row. -
I was just messing around in LDD, and I've got a fox, a wolf, and a , all based on that Lego Universe body.

There are seven Ringwraiths missing. There are a number of other scenes they could recreate in Lego: -Buckleberry Ferry had one Ringwraith. -The Prancing Pony would make a nifty set, could have a couple more and a Butterbur. -I think out of all the theoretical, non-existent sets I want, I really want a Ford of Bruinen set. A handful of wraiths, a sickly Frodo, an Arwen, and as many horses as we can get our hands on without making it more than like $15. I can dream, can't I? There aren't really any moments with the Nazgul in the Two Towers, but I think it'd be kind of nifty if, should a theoretical Eowyn and the Witch-King set happen, they include a hood and sword along with the helmet so you can have him fit in more with the other Ringwraiths. Considering how the Fellowship itself is split up evenly among the sets we've seen so far, I think it'd be kinda neat if the Nazgul were similarly divided.

Let's see here... Fellowship packs: The Ford of Bruinen, since Weathertop doesn't have enough Ringwraiths! Moira goblins. Isengard scout Uruks (FIND THE HALFLINGS!) Two Towers Isengard/Mordor team pack (maybe too close to the scouting Uruks) RIDERS OF ROHAN, with at least one horse... We're kind of getting Isengard Uruks with that one set, but maybe a pack of pikemen? The Galahrim, with at least two helmetless elf heads. Faramir's team. Return of the King Osgiliath orcs, maybe with Gothmog? Gondorian soldiers. A band of Easterlings and Haradrim, but they'll probably save that one crazy guy on the Mumak for a giant elephant set... Morannon pack, with Mordor orcs and one troll. The Dead Army? The Corsairs, which would secretly be Peter Jackson, that Weta guy whose name I just forgot, and that other production guy who I think was in that scene. That would be kind of radical...

"Aha! Ruffians! I have just the thing for you lot!" Swindle magics the Sniper from the back row. -
Man, it just occurred to me that both of our elves are in the two more expensive sets. I hope there's a cheaper way to get elves down the road, I want as many of those ears as I can get my hands on! Also, I hope they make a Rivendell for this line or the Hobbit, so we have some dark hair elf ears, too...

On the subject of Gimli's axe: The dude has like a million axes in the trilogy. He has at least two throwing axes (small, single blades) his "walking stick axe" (long enough to be a Dwarf walking stick, also single-bladed) and his DORF BATTLE RAGE axe, which is long handled and the only one with a double blade. Watch him psyching up in Balin's tomb again, the thing is pretty meaty. I'm personally glad he has it, but I'd appreciate it if they gave him different axes with different sets. You can NEVER EVER have too many of those axe blades. Gandalf is the only dissapointment, but I'm hoping he won't seem as bad in person, or that a hypothetical Gandalf the White turns out better. Meanwhile, my wallet just caught fire. Excuse me...

When looking at the whole of Tolkien's mythology, "goblin" and "orc" are mostly interchangeable. Tolkien had his whole special language thing going on, and the Hobbit wasn't originally intended to be part of his bigger story. Nevertheless, the orcs/goblins of the Misty Mountains are distinctly described as being smaller than other breeds, and the film version of the Moria orcs had a very distinctive look, not just in terms of their physiology, but that spiky cockroach armor they wore. I'd be really happy if they included at least some of that in the Moria set. I suppose a new mold of those crazy helmets would be too much to ask for, though. (Also, strictly speaking, the goblins in the Hobbit should bear at least some significant resemblance to the Moria goblins, since at one point, the Misty Mountain goblins were all united, under an orc chieftain named Azog. He kills Thorin's grandfather and is eventually killed at the Battle of Dimrill Dale.)

"My goodne--get your hands off of--well, I never!" Swindle flails helplessly for a bit, jumps away from Tarn, and adjusts his robes with an exasperated grunt. He then rolls up his sleeves and pushes the torch as far ahead of him as he can, carefully inching down the left path. -
"Uruk-hai" simply means "Orc-folk" in the Black Speech. In the books, they were specifically the biggest, the meanest, and the only ones who would travel by daylight without wigging out. They were in Mordor long before Saruman started breeding them, and it was the Uruks who took Osgiliath. Fun fact: they wanted as many 6 foot plus guys as they could get for the films, but to fill the ranks, they did end up casting 5 and a half guys. Those warriors became known as the Uruk-lows.

These are amazing. I'm gonna have to mess around with some of these later.

"Actually, yes. Yes I am." Swindle uses his potion on himself, before the wolves can get to him again. EDIT: Actually, I missed the part about shielding from damage. I think I'll save my potion for the next round and I'll magic the alpha from the back row again. -
That's just what they've told us. They're saving it for a surprise! ... ...Oh please, dear God, let them be saving it for a surprise...

"Yes, yes, I know. I apologize. It's just...well...I'm a wizard. In an abandoned dwarf mine, with some kind of evil creature in it. Forgive me for being overly paranoid, but my old teacher warned me about this exact kind of situation. It's a wizarding thing, really. It won't happen again." "...as long as there isn't a bridge..." -

"You don't get to be as old as I am by underestimating funny noises in the shadows, Master Dak." Nevertheless, Swindle sidles forward, up next to Tarn. After a few minutes of shaking nervously, he takes in the expressions of his companions, and realizes how embarrassing this is. Angry at himself, he straightens up, rolls up his poofy sleeves, and sets his hat and a jaunty angle. "This is the one thing my old teacher told me to never, ever do. Right, let's just get it over with!" He holds the torch out, and nods at Tarn to move forward. -

"We don't know it's heard us yet! It could be growling because...uh...it has indigestion. Because...it already ate a big dinner...Eep." Aberforth scoots himself into the middle of the group, torch raised. -

Following the others as they close in on the sound, Swindle turns to look behind the party, in case something had come up from the other path. -
I like things about both of them, but I think I like more things the Fantasy troll has going. If the Harry Potter troll had two arm joints and a less ugly face printing (it only vaguely looks like the movie design, even!) I think I'd be much happier with it. He's a big lunky idiot, and I think that's conveyed quite well. I don't actually have a Fantasy troll, but I dig the exaggerated, chunky aesthetics. He's not necessarily as stupid as the Harry Potter troll (less duuuuuh, more bad grammer an' spellin' and tings like dat) but he's several times more brutish. Also, there's the sheer variety to consider. The Fantasy troll comes in a couple of colors, and has exposed studs all over him.

I have a general tendency towards wizards. In any kind of fantasy game with character creation, I highly doubt I'm ever not going to be the wizard. "Aberforth Swindle" is a name I came up with for a throwaway character in a side project I'm working on. As a character, he's still evolving, so I'm not sure where he'll wind up next...
