    LEGO 10294 Titanic Discussion

Cool to hear, that was always my hesitation with these light kits...

    LEGO 10294 Titanic Discussion

The idea of getting a lighting kit for Titanic is intriguing... Though I don't normally get these kits. Do they use official LEGO for the parts they replace? Will wait and see what other's pictures look like, having a hard time seeing where they are putting the lights in the official pictures since the lights are blown out...

    LEGO 10294 Titanic Discussion

Mine was delivered this morning... WOW Pictures don't do justice to the size of the box... And the weight! Sadly in the box it will remain till I get the shelf built for it and get some time to dedicate. If some would have asked what would be my ultimate dream set to have, Titanic would be it hands down. As a kid I always wanted to have Titanic done in LEGO, even made a smaller attempt at one point. But quickly realized it had to be bigger to do justice and capture the needed detail. Needless to say I am beyond ecstatic... Edit, I am curious to see if the measurements on the site are accurate. My shelf location will have very specific measurements, so once someone completes it, I would be curious to know if the measurements are in fact accurate...

I am more disturbed by the lack of the Marconi array. I have also never seen a reference to have a flag on the bow. Where did they get that reference?

It should also be a different diameter, but the blade count is apparently in debate. Either way, I give LEGO a pass for this given they would have to create a brand new part just for one prop.

Same, to me the biggest change needs to be the marconi aerial.

My paypal confirmation shows my order processed at 12:04, but got the backordered email yesterday afternoon. Gives me time to build the shelf it will sit on.
  11. Well done, I am enjoying seeing all the versions done with 2 of these sets. Recently got a set of instructions off rebrickable that used 2 sets, but I am thinking now of adding a 3 set to the mix and seeing if I can come up with my own design...

    Selling my unopened LOTR collection

Didn't realize that... But unfortunately I need the room... I would take offers. Sorry should have specified, shipping included to lower 48 states... Think shipping out of the states would be pricey...

    Rapscallion

[pid][/pid] 131B Finished my frigate "Rapscallion". I thought the name was appropriate for a pirate ship sailing under English colors. Came in at over 5800 parts for the ship and 4000 parts for the water and base. Flags, sails, and shrouds are custom made, the rest of the string is Lego string. I know there are some historical inaccuracies, but I think I captured the sprit of what I was trying to build. Here is the ship I used as my reference (English frigate UNICORN of 1665). Inspiration for the water came from Siercon and Coral and I have to give thanks to Foremast Jack for his help with the round gun ports, as well as all the others here who have offered great input! Edit: I added high res pics on my brickshelf page

    REVIEW: 9473 Mines of Moria

Great review, these are some of my favorite licensed themes... Could have something to do with my obsession with LOTR...

    10226 Sopwith Camel Modification

Sweet! Will have to look out for those...
  22. Finished tweaking my 10226 set to make it more accurate to the real thing... I redid the fuselage, narrowed it to 6 studs, shorted it by about 4 studs, and added a few plates in height... The lower wings are now diheadral and the upper wing was raised by ~1brick... The support rigging actually helps strengthen the wings now and are under tension. Without them the wings can pivot back and forth. It is very stable in this design... The wheel frame is still a little too tall, but I couldn't come up with a clean way to reduce the height and not sacrifice the shock absorber function... The propeller was lengthen by 2 studs, the upper wing cutout altered. I maintained (improved actually) the aileron/elevator function. Elevators are smoother now and I found that removing the rubber bands from the airelon helped a lot (since each counter the other, they are not really needed) I really wish TLG would make an inverted tile that can be attached to the bottom instead of on top of studs... Also some more dark green parts... Here is some reference: Wikipedia Aviation History
  23. Great review! This has been one of the best sets I have purchased in a long time (second only to the modular buildings), and have to say if you like planes, or WW1 planes specifically... this is a must buy! Here are some comparison shots to the original: There are somethings about 3451 that I like better, but overall 10226 is more accurate to the real thing... The biggest drawback of 10226 is the fuselege design (too long and too wide) and would have been nice to see them make the lower wings dihedral.
