    MOC: MINI RMS Titanic

Really nice mini version of this :) The detail is great and those propeller parts are absolutely perfect for it! The huge funnels look very prominent and pleasing to the eye! I also had a Great Great Grandad on my mothers side, that went down with this ship, name was William Ford Kingscoat and he was a steward. Same as Mr. Malfoy's ancestor, body was never recovered. You have represented the ship very nicely indeed

    TC-14 Lego Promo

That's an awesome purchase Mutley! I think anyone would be dead chuffed with that But talking of the now known discounts, only the Shuttle and SSD are worth it, all the others are dwarfed by Amazon sale prices. However, I made my purchase; the Tie Fighter and a Yoda keychain for my Mum, she finds him cute Still kinda depressing considering I could have gotten the Tie from Amazon for £39.99... but the way I see it, £10 extra for the TC-14, mini Tie and free shipping is worth it. (The poster doesn't really do anything for me

The Lego Black Knights Sets 1988-1993

I had 6034, oh such memories! I loved that little set! Brilliant reviews! Its made me realise how much else I missed out on though, I only had 6034 and the grey castle (not the black knight one, the black knight enemy one, which was awesome, gave me soooo many hours of fun, loved the trap door ) I still have both the ghost and my black knight on his horse on my shelf even now

    SW LED Keychains

One thing I do wonder about these... My Darth has a printed face, but his helmet is stuck well and truly to his head, which means I only get to see his face if I peek up his helmet from underneath Why would TLG waste money printing a face they intended not to be seen by gluing the helmet? Do the Stormtroopers have printed faces also, or are they just black heads?

    TC-14 Lego Promo

Last year it was stated on the cards that it was $75 to be spent on LSW sets. This year it is also stated as such, as I quoted in my post on the previous page. It was just a mistake on TLG's part of how they applied the free minifig system into their website. I am sure this year they shall have looked back at last years mishap and will make sure it doesn't happen again. If they don't, then they are intentionally misleading people for some reason

    LEGO 10226 Sopwith Camel

I quite disagree with this being a reason why it is ok for WW1 but not WW2. Quite strongly, contemporary war machinery and such is of the very same matter as it directly affects contemporary conflict situations and how they are played out differently to WW1/2 conflict. It was only very early in the war they were mainly used for scout planes. After they started adding machine guns, that is when the majority of use for these planes became as fighters. Both eras of WW1 and WW2 used machine guns mounted on their planes to kill people in opposite side planes/strafing. Both eras had propeller driven planes (OK, WW2 ventured into jet but it wasn't anything that hugely contributed to anything, rather than a short term hindrance that was very short lived.) Both eras planes had the same basic design principle of structure, although WW1 majority had bi-plane wings, WW2 were monoplane. Conflict of WW1/2 era? That was mostly aim your plane and shoot at the one in front of you and hope to hit it with your bullets, and either damage the plane beyond flyability or kill the pilot with a lucky bullet shot. Very much the same. The same goes for their heavy bombers. Loaded with bombs, gunner positions situated throughout various positions which point and aim at incoming bandits. Contemporary conflict? Jets with mostly swept back wings that mainly use guided missiles with a bit of gatling/chaingun thrown in for good measure every now and then, chafe flares, proper ejector seats, air-air refueling for even further range. Contemporary fighting of this modern era? Lock on and fire away. (ofc with the usual acrobatic dancing to get into that position first but it leaves a lot larger room for not having to have the enemy directly in front) Missile coming? Throw your chafes out and move the plane the hell out of there Bombing? Sure! Just load A-G missiles/bombs instead of A-A missiles on the fighter jet instead! (And yeah, I do know that fighters of WW2 sometimes carried bombs, but this was not often as they usually required range to escort the actual bombers that were doing the bombing thus carried droptanks instead. And even less frequently, yes I do know about droptanks and bombs at the same time too, but very rarely used together ) This modern era couldn't be further removed from the comparison of WW1/2. So again, if they can't do WW2 I don't see how they can justify WW1? Other than the fact there are still a few WW2 veterans alive today and it is for these people they are respectfully holding back, of which that I can fully understand and agree with. So, failing my latter statement, bring on the WW2 planes TLG! *edit* sorry for going off-topic

Where do you get the idea that it says you only need to spend 'some' of the £50 on LSW to qualify for the minifig? "qualifying purchases for free minifigure and free standard delivery must be at least £50 in Lego Star Warstm merchandise only;" None of that implies only 'some' needs to be spent on LSW?

    Monster Fighters 2012

Is there not just the possibility that they came up with a theme, realised they already had the moulds/print designs still from the previous CMF's and so decided to save money rather than create new moulds for £250k per mould for this particular theme? I can't imagine they will specifically be using CMF's to be hinting at what is coming up next, rather; coming up with themes, and if there are still the moulds/print designs available from the CMF's that would fit in with that theme, then just using them to help save money.

Do you prefer Battle Packs to have 1 or 2 factions?

Hmmm, not necessarily... Could look at it this way too... Someone's parents wants to buy their kid a battlepack so their kid can have troops to fight with/against.... Oh no! There is only one faction in one BP! Well, they can't fight against each other, so... they'll perhaps just buy one for now, and then buy another later so he can have 2 factions to fight against, or... Buy 2 BPs now so he can have bad guys fight his goo guys that they will get him. Their current way? They only need to spend £12 to make their kid happy with 2 factions, as opposed to £24 (which would make TLG more money) Also, If I have to buy 2x BPs to get just 4 troops I want, I'm left with 4 troops I don't want, and it's not really worth it reselling those commander droids/new droids as they're not going to be valued a lot so not even worth swapping them on a 1:1 ratio... so I'm just not going to bother buying anymore BP's for them clone troopers at all. I'll perhaps just bricklink/ebay what I want, if at all. So they've lost out some sales from me. (greater chance of the other faction being ruled out? They've just ruled out 2 factions at once for me, one of which I do want, but am not going to get) It works your way, but I also see it working this way too

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Perhaps this is just a personal thing, but I feel the handle would take up unnecessary room on it, and ruin its aesthetics too. It does have those small 3x3 light bley wedge plates to grip it from and other than my butter fingers this one time, have not had a problem with holding it and swooshing it from them The AT-RT mod wouldn't need to be much at all, perhaps nothing, just build a foldable AT-RT, add a couple of 'position' bricks and throw it in, there it is... as for the mechanism to retract the missiles, well, I can only imagine this would go one way (where TLG is concerned)... bigger flickfire missiles, and I'd rather they didn't do that All just small simple mods (even if it were to do the missile retraction), nothing big enough that could warrant a huge enough redesign like from the old 7163 to the 7676. Perhaps I'm just being too content with the current version )

But how can they possibly improve upon the 7676 RGS?! Although the interior and legs of the 7675 AT-TE left a lot to be desired and improved...

You've done a really nice rendition of the characters head I can definitely relate it to the source! Although, if I was a lot younger, this is the sort of thing which would have given me nightmares (like daleks)

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

1)I was thinking the same thing, totally agreed 2) I do wonder if it would be more likely released as a bust than a whole figure, but then General Grievous was a whole figure and he turned out really nice.... so who knows, it is very possible, he is a very iconic character, I could not be so sure as to rule it out as a possibility. I'm not so sure. I'm only speaking for me, but there are probably many other people in my similar position. I have yet to see anything else other than the 6 films (I intend on getting TCW series 1-4 dvds sometime) so I don't know any of the other vehicles, or what they are about, however that Sith Fury class is such a brilliantly designed ad decent looking ship I can't resist it, despite the fact I know nothing of it. Just as long as it 'hits the spot' I don't think it matters too much whether it is well known or not, but as you rightly say, the more well known, the better.

    MOC: Ju88 minifig scale LDD

I have loved the look of the Ju88 for ages, and when I got back into Lego it started dawning on me to build one. I scoured the internet for other peoples versions, and while ok, nothing really looked like I would be personally happy with it if I were to build one of theirs. I didn't just want it to look similar to one, but I wanted it to be detailed and replicated as close as possible, while giving it certain moving features. I wanted it to be screaming it is a Ju88! Features: Moveable ailerons, elevators and rudder. Propellers spin freely. Front and rear landing gear retracts/extends. Bomb bay doors open and close. Underside gondola can fit a minifig in it lying down. Replica cockpit as closely matched in general layout and some details as possible to the original Ju88 design. Moving rear cockpit and rear underside gondola guns =D It is built solid so it can be picked up and held with ease without worry of something breaking. I replicated the cockpit to be as close to the real thing as possible with certain details, bearing in mind Lego scale only allows for a certain amount of accuracy. The plane itself compared to the minifigs is perhaps a little slightly too big, but probably only by 1 stud in width. If I made it slightly smaller, I was unable to build it with a decent underside gondola and everything else around it would be thrown completely off and make building it much more difficult. So I settled on an 8stud wide fuselage, meaning 6stud width space inside the cockpit. I could not find anything that would work well enough for the canopy, so I decided to go down the route of 'representing' the canopy, by using those SW droid arms, and piping/tubing. The canopy, although not completely finished, is done as much as I can on LDD. When it comes to building this in real life, I shall be able to bend the flex tubing to where I want it and thus be able to finish the cockpit properly. The rear of the front undercarriage gondola is a bit 'meh', but I don't really know how else to get the gear covers on the rear part to come down tigher because the wheel when retracted, is in the way, and so I had to make it as it is... Perhaps one day I'll revisit that and try a different approach, but for now I've exhausted my own personal abilities There are a few things here and there that I had to make compromises for (undercarriage gondola for example), but overall personally I feel I made the best compromises with my current level of skill. Flickr with more pics here. Without further ado, here it is: Please let me know if these pics need resizing smaller, and I shall do so C&C very welcome!

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

I think the B wing is a fine choice to bring out next. I think they are partially going on our wallets too. Finally they're bringing out slightly cheaper UCS sets to give us a break and let us stock up on that green stuff so they can whack us with it next year with the more costly ones I mean look at it this way: 10188 Deathstar £274 10212 Imp Shuttle £245 10195 Dropship £180 10221 Executor £350 Thats a lot of money needing to be spent on quite a lot of sets that were all out at the same time(at some point), and for average joe, these things take time to buy alongside all the other lego they assume we will be buying too. So giving us a few cheaper UCS (but in all honesty, they're not lacking in quality from the looks of it) sets, they are letting us take a breather so we may very well see a huge UCS set coming out soon after the B-wing. That'd be my guess. I don't think the AT-AT is that far away. (I personally believe its a guarantee it WILL be released at some point) Another way to look at it, is Cavegod made his UCS B-wing moc. Then after some time he made his AT-AT... They are giving us the B-wing now...

    Monster Fighters 2012

Oh! these images just sold me on multiple sets! And here I was thinking only Lego Star Wars interested me, now they've gone and all but taken more of my money on a new theme! Definitely the ghost train set, it just looks fantastically fun! That sea creature one most definitely, and the zombie one too! That sea creature could be used in a Captain Scarlet moc... ooh... ideas coming now.... =O This whole theme seems to have hit the spot for being creative and enticing. Atlantis just seemed a rehash of the previous underwater explorer theme, the Dino theme seems like its Jurassic park and well, too long overdue and missed the whole JP era. PQ was refreshing but just seemed too bland for me. But this, who can resist Halloweeny kinda stuff?!

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?

Ok, not quite exactly what I bought, but what I for a heck of a big surprise, received... Monday just gone, I went round to my mums, and there was a present on the floor for me. Its not my birthday or anything, she just bought me a surprise present. I opened it, and it was the 7964 Republic Frigate! I was totally stoked! Anyways not wanting her to feel left out and me take it away to my girlfriends to build it, I decided to build it at Mums another day when I was free so she could see the excitement and joy she had brought to me. So today was that day, and I got to building it. Then half way through the build, there was a knock on the front door. I opened the door and on the floor was a BIIIG present on the floor with a note on it saying 'may the 4th be with you' (I know, a little early)... I was shocked. Surely it couldn't be Lego, at this size? It could only be one of 2 sets... The Deathstar or the SSD... and I hadn't done anything great to receive such a huge gift! I brought it in, opened it in awe, and low and behold! It was the 10188 Deathstar! Oh My God! I still have no idea what is going on, but I am one VERY lucky person at this moment, money is tight and I had written this set off as being unobtainable! Just wow! I could swear I'm in a daydream! Apparantly, at the time this got delivered to Mums front door, she was out and it got left with the neighbours... the 2 little children who live there saw the Lego logo on the parcel and thought it was for them, they were hugely disappointed when they found out it wasn't

    MOC: Ju88 minifig scale LDD

Yeah, I've never been able to figure out how to get rid of the grid, I don't doubt it is possible, but I've just never really spent the time looking for the function because every time I went on LDD I invariably ended up designing something/getting inspired on how to solve a particular problem! What you mentioned about the flex tubes, is exactly what I will be doing *when* I do build it in real bricks =D The rear of the cockpit canopy also needs the same treatment. Thanks for your input/advice, its hugely appreciated! I've seen your He-129, and all your others which you have done really well on! Some seriously interesting techniques you have used. When I first started out on this, and initially had the problem of how to build the cockpit area, I asked someone else for advice, they designed a 6 stud wide cockpit (4stud wide interior). It was really cramped, I mean really cramped, although he did a great job on it, I felt my skills weren't up to the task of doing justice to a 6stud wide one. As you mentioned about the scale, you are right, 5 would be suitable, but even with 6 I (personally) would struggle. My compromise would be to make it 8 stud wide, and fit it out to be whatever I could. To be honest, it is probably more up to scale of the technic men. The lego men, are very short and fat Their legs when sat down *should* easily reach the bottom of the fuselage (to be faithful to the real life version pilots position/size), however they do only reach about half way down, so yeah it is huge for them. I think after fussing about with the cockpit and getting frustrated at the minifigs being too wide and stumpy, and the cockpit causing me frustration due to scaling issues, I just wanted to get the overall outside size and shape right. I may have made some bad choices, but to be honest (without wanting to sound like I'm just making excuses), that was in my ignorance. I have never built anything military before, let alone many mocs (I've only designed a minifig scaled AT-AT before this and that's the extent of my actual MOCS) so I did not really know what size I should aim for so I just went with my gut instinct, which was to get the plane size matching the 8 stud wide fuselage. You are totally right however, it is like the opposite of a Tardis Thankfully the interior is easily modifiable, so I could modify it to be in proper scale with the rest of the plane, I think for the moment my brain would fry at trying to reproduce a 1/43 scaled Ju88, it is well beyond my current building expertise as I hit many walls building this and thankfully had someone on hand to offer practical solutions. For example, my landing gear is big and clunky compared to yours, of which I've seen which can move in the same manner yet takes up much less room than mine does To create a 1/43 scale Ju88, I think for the time being I shall leave that up to the proper experts (like you ) and enjoy seeing other peoples designs. In time, I will invariably make something else (I noticed you had mentioned on one of your flickr moc's pic you may build a B17, has it gone any further than thoughts? I'd be interested to see anything on that! The B17g is my fav looking WW2 plane of all time!). It'll of course probably be something that not many others have done before because I don't like copying much unless I'm in love with the source model in which I'll do what I can for one that meets my expectations. If you wouldn't mind, when that time comes, I may ask you for advice on getting the scale right as you so successfully do

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

I see at least 3 sets that are going to make me poorer :( Specifically the green jedi ship (mainly for the green R-unit, the Sith Fury class fighter (everything screams awesome about that set!) and the republic fighter, I think that one is growing on me slowly... The others seem a bit 'meh' to me, the skiff would be nice if on sale though, for the minifigs.

Which forum does my MOC/topic belong in?

No worries, thanks! On that note, good point brought up. Before I do post it, should I post it in the LDD forum, or is it ok to post in the Special Themes section? My aim of it isn't to show my LDD skills (I have nothing against them appreciating it either ), but more to show this to the WW2 fans so they can appreciate it and get advice/criticism from them on making it perhaps more accurate etc. (it is currently complete and not in the WIP stages)

Which forum does my MOC/topic belong in?

I made a Ju88 on LDD, which is finally finished and I'd like to post it somewhere on here, but I'm struggling to find where exactly to put it because I don't see any WW2 things anywhere :o Is WW2 even allowed to be posted in these forums at all, or is it still considered to be too 'recent war' kinda thing, the same as TLG's stance? Many thanks in advance!
