LEGO's inexplicable design decisions

Interesting link there, specifically of note, page 26, where it says 'can one brick be used instead of 5'... Pretty sure they break that all the time -
Do you think lego will ever realese another space theme
Fuppylodders replied to arealhuman's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Not as mad as you think. While I disliked nexo knights, ninjago actually has always done very decent sets of whatever style they've been doing. Granted they'll be ninjago-fied, but whatever they do end up with, will be decent looking space sets that could probably easily be removed of the ninjago style to decent looking space sets. Not entirely what is hoped for, but possibly our best chance yet and closest it's been to it. I look forward to seeing what they bring! -
That looks very cool! I can't say I specifically remember seeing it, may have to watch it again and see if I can spot it (it's the only film of the final 3 I would rewatch). I feel like we need more pics of more angles too! Is there any kind of interior or is it just exterior? How many pieces is it? Did you build it for structural integrity in real life or will it just remain only for stud.io? Very nicely done!

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
Fuppylodders replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I'm not trying to pick holes or anything, I'm just wondering... How come they have to be 4x4? Can they be different sizes? What colour do the 4x4's have to be? Are they on show or hidden? Could you not get them from BrickLink used? Lots of waaay cheaper 4x4s on there compared to TLG's .25 cents each I personally don't like the look of the new plate system yet, but I'm not quite seeing how these can look good blended in to a city so well. If they can, great. If not, well, I'm guessing it's the future they're choosing to go with so it'll be off to BrickLink or go with the flow :/ It just seems like so much extra additional plastic compared to the flat roads, I can't really see how they'd end up being cheaper/more cost effective for them. -
This was strangely satisfying to watch! Particularly liked the high speed crash, the tall tower crash (#2) and the last video capture of #9.

Fuppylodders replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm teasing myself here entirely unnecessarily but riding on what Leewan said, imagine if it was a whole wave of an in-house space theme (talking trans neon colours here, not white and black with a hint of orange and plain trans windows) in one set! But if its an LRV, boorrrrring. Well, for me anyway. I appreciate some might really like it...- 306 replies

Oh what I would give for it to be a random made up in-house space theme minifig scaled mothership! But, it'll probably be a scaled replica of an Elon Musk Space X ship or something...- 306 replies

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Fuppylodders replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Depends on how much of an upgrade it is, and if its something that can be a squadron of, or if its pretty much a unique vehicle. X-wing, if its a reasonable price, with decent figures, I might get the update. The new ones? They're great for kids and first time collectors, but there are better previous versions that I do have, so I've no need to get them. Personally, unless it's a Y/X/A wing, standard tie fighter, millennium falcon, snowspeeder, land speeder, or some other classic ship, then I'd jump on whatever version you like and get it. Those previous mentioned ones will always get remakes until the licence is cancelled. Anything else, I'd be looking at previous versions. Example, 7662 MTT, I believe is the best version. I bought it a fair while after it had its production ended, but before the latest version. I wouldn't bother with the latest version as I feel the 7662 exceeds it in all manners. It's one of life's lucky dips to be honest. Just get what you like, and if they release an update you feel is better, great! Sell previous and use that to assist getting the updated version. -
I wonder if they're reducing the amount of sets in the waves to try and assist with their production issues and lack of being able to keep up with demand. I Don t know about other themes, but Star Wars being their easiest/best selling theme would also be the safest to minimise without worry of pickup in the future. So, lower the amount of star wars sets being released, reducing strain on production, let things catch up and get a grasp back on production again, then go back to a sustainable production momentum once things have settled. If you think about it, 9 months later is a pretty decent and not surprising time for the effect to be seen to be responded to with regards to releases. As for future releases, I just hope they get out all the decent potential mandalorian sets before jumping into the deep end with the upcoming disney+ star wars stuff. Doesn't even need much to be honest, just 1 or 2 focused waves and it'd be done.

Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Fuppylodders replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Christ, its a toy, for kids, with a small lego car that is blue like the real version, with a white roof like the real version, a grill that represents whatever shark-like mouth, the real version has, has 4 wheels like the real version, has the blocky shape to it and looks essentially like a ford anglia to a degree that is suitable enough to represent one in a small set aimed at kids. For the size it is, it's perfectly good enough. It's a damned grill. If you want perfection, get a damned 1:8th scale replica model of it. It's like star wars arm printing whining all over again.... People bitching about something as petty as the shaping of a grill for god sake. If they did the grill, you'd all be complaining about the lack of indicator lights in the grill. If they somehow managed to squeeze them in, you'd end up complaining it doesn't have windscreen wipers or door handles, or a key lock, or some other crap. If it was a UCS type set or Creator type set, I could understand. But it's a friggin system set. The level of pickiness on a system scale set is ridiculous. -
I think the bad batch has such a big opportunity ahead of it, similar to the mandalorian, I just hope they cash in on it with decent sets.

Couldn't agree more. I can understand the whole thing behind pushing for the 501st. That was a thing in itself, and not up against anything else. But when there are set options in a competition by TLG, abusing your position to influence just for the sake of it or to push your own agenda, it's off, and tbh, quite irresponsible. Politics voting campaigning is entirely different (before anyone uses it as a comparison) Just leave these competitions to run themselves... Interestingly though, it's meant to be the 150th brickheadz, and they said 'characters', so does this mean multipack or multiple individual sets? I find that wording odd and confusing given the 150th would be an individual... -

Crikey, if they make it a yearly thing, I'm done for Yearly modular, fairground, Winter Village, upcoming star wars ucs, random Harry potter/star wars sets... Then they drop these wonderful ninjago 'modular' sets on us, which each one has been amazing! I'm not normally into buying any ninjago sets (even though their dragons and Mechs are actually very decent), but these 'modulars' are things of beauty. -

As far as I'm concerned, years of being on this forum-active or not, is irrelevant. All our *opinions* carry equal weight as they are opinions. However, rules *should* trump opinions. And at the moment, they're not. People are holding their opinion higher than the rules, which is wrong. Additionally, we don't want silence, far from it. I do enjoy the discussion of random stuff, it's nice to read through. But it belongs in other threads! Threads which *would be easily kept alive if people talked there instead*. As for your second point above, I think you'll find you have it wrong. Forums by their very nature have categories broken down into sub categories and typically are moderated for being on/off topic. Have a look at *any* car forum, you'll realise just how free this forum actually is. If you want somewhere to freely talk about lego star wars, without topic restrictions making you feel iks you're being silenced instead of going to a different topic, then Facebook is what you are after. -
LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Fuppylodders replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That news thread has the bare bones of information. Anything else or possibilities that haven't been confirmed solid or reliable at this point, or information of what the sets contain etc aren't listed in it. Hence why there is the discussion part. You may find that hilarious, I find it tedious that people choose to ignore the rules and feel above them because cOnVeRsAtIoN fLoW eAsIeR. Near enough all of what gets discussed typically belongs in future sets thread, which can easily tie in with discussion of the films because its relevant to the wishlisted future sets (not rumoured). But people don't go there. Instead they choose to discuss it somewhere where it *currently* doesn't belong. That shows a total lack of respect to the mods, the rules, and other users. Of course its set up as a discussion thread. But i don't get why people are so scared it'll suddenly go quiet as though the world will end if that happens?! I mean come on, use the other threads, it's what they're there for! Then when something gets posted in the rumour thread, we know it's possibly something meaty to do with a new set! Instead, its just another mandalorian plot discussion... The rumours thread contains more than just 'ooo I like that! Eww that's terrible' kind of comments when it's kept on topic... You can try to minimise as much as you like, but we know that's just not true. Being dismissive a fair bit there. For *you* it's not a problem. Exaggerating a fair bit there too. They don't need to create anymore threads, in fact I agree merge a couple (future minifigs/sets). No one has said to create more threads. More threads are definitely not neededBut people not using the appropriate threads. Not because the threads don't work. But because people flouting the rules. And instead of deciding to adhere to the rules and continue conversation where it belongs, they choose to be silent themselves. Something they don't want to happen to the rumours thread. They only have themselves to blame there. Literally getting upset about not being able to talk, when they can in the appropriate thread that has been provided. *THAT* right there is entitlement... So, why is it so important the rumours thread is kept alive, but who cares about the future sets thread or media thread, they can die!!! The rumours thread will always keep itself alive and relevant. But the culture/media and future sets don't keep themselves alive. Why are those less important? Why can they die a death but the world will end if the rumour thread goes silent a few months? -

While I kind of understand your point, I don't feel it goes both ways-equally. If you're trying to find something related to the thread itself or a particular rumour, I'm sure you're aware how tedious and long drawn out it can be reading through pages upon pages of irrelevant stuff to find a relevant point. But not only when it's relevant, then reading through the relevant stuff to find info on a specific rumour. That in itself can't really be avoided, but the unnecessary scrolling/reading through irrelevant stuff can be. I don't frequent the future sets/minifigs section much, but since 2008,future minifigs only has 60 pages, while future sets has 260 pages since 2008, and pretty much includes a good discussion of minifigs too. I'm pretty sure that (minifigs) could be merged with future sets too, as they do tie in with each other. General discussion is good as it is, as it enables a place for questions on anything, and doesn't add more things to spend time reading though unnecessarily. But it does provide a place where you can go straight to asking a question and easily browse through previous questions. To answer specifically about what would one expect to find in this thread, is discussion of said rumours in the news thread, but also discussion of 'is a possible rumour' but not strong enough evidence for it to go in the news thread. The news thread doesn't currently list any info about the sets themselves, just the name, price etc. If I'm honest, I think that's all it needs to be. Because to keep it updated with the recent rumours places an unnecessary strain of workload on the moderator to ensure its updated 100%, which means they have to research rumours for reliability etc... That shouldn't be on them. Giving a summary, ihmo, is enough. The rest is for us to keep up to date with in this thread. The Harry Potter thread with its single thread is good for a read. But try find anything specific from at least a week ago (perhaps could be longer, you only remember roughly it was a week ago(hypothetically speaking) ) is a royal pain in the big behind. It actually takes a fair bit of time to read through stuff (that you already read through) trying to find a specific thing that's already been mentioned. Search function is good, but not always successful. -

Fuppylodders replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Pretty much this. Only thing is, I kind of like having the 'confirmed rumour list' thread, as it gives a very easy and quick to find summary of what is currently known. The way the threads are split up at the moment, I literally see no problem with. People are just lazy. But we don't née dany further additional threads, the current ones easily cover any variation of discussions. If the culture and media thread is dead, its because people are too lazy to go there. There's clearly a need for it as proven inside this thread. If people don't want to literally click a couple of buttons to discuss it there, that's on them. People making out like clicking a few buttons is soooo much effort -
Got the 3 pack with Mr and Mrs Claus, and the pink elf. Going to go back on Monday when the 501st sets come back in stock, and see if I can ask for a pack of 3 elfs as they're a nice change. Also asked if they had any of the black dachshunds, the first employee believed they didn't have any but another employee who overheard knew what I was asking for and said she'd seen them out back. She proceeded to bring 4 out and offered me a couple (my elf didn't have an accessory). I kind of went to pick 2 then she just put all 4 in my hand and said I could have them! So kind! Now I can have a dog walker with a family of dachsunds Didn't see anything to do with the bear costume but will ask on Monday when I go back.

No chance of a rerelease. Best bet is buying them second hand. -
Quite a very decent solution. As long as it holds, I think its a good enough technique. I was wondering... is it possible to simply use some of this https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=75c29#T=S&O={"iconly":0} on the inside back edge instead of those round studs and those hose nozzles? I can't remember how flexible the plastic hose is. I know its pretty stiff, but is there enough flex to bend into a circle and which would then apply a rounded pressure going outwards as it tries to straighten back out, thus pushing the links outwards also in a circular shape...?

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Fuppylodders replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm going to interject my thoughts. Usually I'm quite opinionated one way or another. But for some reason... I can see the points from both sides arguments. To which at some degree, I also agree with both. The problem is, while statements of facts are being presented for one side, and the other, regarding last year's released, availability/desire/new collection starters etc... Ultimately its still people's opinions on if its the right choice or not, because there is no right or wrong choice, just *the* choice that has already been made by TLG. Some think it a good choice. Some think it bad. I personally can see the good and bad. Because there are 2 types of customer to satisfy. New customers. Existing customers. At some point that balancing act will wobble, as it is now. I can clearly see for the most part, people are sticking to their guns, and so opinions won't change, and this discussion is going to go on and on and on, and literally get nowhere further than it already is. I feel like i need to say something as an end note like let's all just chill out a bit, about it, and move on, or something... But that sounds crap. But I guess it'll have to do now I typed it and can't think of anything else -
Looks really nice for sure. Except it'd be nice if there was more of a thread and info/pics of this than just an advert for an ideas submission. Makes me more likely to not vote for it
