With the photos we have of the sets being "preliminary", I find it funny how worked up some people are getting and treating these photos as if they're definitive/final. I just don't see the point in wasting the energy complaining when nothing is official yet. Once we get and see the official details and photos, then we can all have at it.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I know you meant 2012, but it makes me wonder if LEGO SW will still be around 100 years from now. Hmm, I always suspected there was a nice side to Darth Maul. -
I've been reading The Walking Dead books. I couldn't wait for Season 2 to start back up and a co-worker of mine has the books.

So I just came back from a 15 year absence/dark age and...
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to ihira's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I want to be a responsible family man and say that I'm not going to buy any LotR sets. However when it became official that there would be LEGO LotR I did give my wife a warning that I would be spending a little more money than I normally do. Of course she just shook her head called me a "nerd". She knows how much I love LotR. At this point, I really can't say how many of the sets I will actually buy. I'm waiting until the official photos are released so I can examine them closely and then decide. I know in the end I may just be kidding myself. I want to exercise some sort of restraint but I feel that in the end, I'll be unable to resist. -
Due to the cost to buy the UCS Falcon as a complete set. I'm about to embark on the quest to build my own. With that said, if someone here has that POP number on the booklet, could you please post it? I think it would help out those that are trying to build their own set.

@ ihira - Awesome collection. Seeing all those Castles together is really impressive. I've been into LEGO the past 3 years due to my children, specifically the SW line. My son got a couple of the larger Castle sets early on but once he started getting more SW sets his Castles got pushed off to the corner. I have to admit though there'e something about the Castle line that's just appealing to me. I'm not sure what it is. Even though 90% of the LEGO in my house is SW, I've picked up Castle sets here and there over the years. I feel like I'm looking down a cliff and I'm getting ready to fall. I kind of already regret not picking up more of the Kingdoms sets. -
I really like your MOC. Seeing all the creations here on Eurobricks makes me want to try and make MOCs of my own. For some reason ships have always been very appealing to me. Just haven't had the guts to fully dive in.

At one point Barnes & Noble did sell their LEGO above MSRP. I know during the Holidays, their sets were at MSRP as I used 50% off coupons to get a couple sets.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I wasn't too happy with the wait to watch Escape From Kadavo, but the quality of the episode made it well worth it. Great conclusion to a great and interesting story arc. I see many LEGO possibilities coming from this last episode. -
I absolutely support the LotR theme. If Star Wars never existed, the LotR films would be #1 for me. Only time will tell as to how successful LEGO LotR will be. I think the line will be very successful regardless of whether it goes 3 years or 10 years.

LEGO Star Wars is a strong act to follow. LEGO Star Wars has been in existence for 14 years now (no end in sight), has prospered due to 6 films (3 that were released in conjunction w/LEGO sets), a successful cartoon series that's been on for 4 years (and counting) and video games (weren't too successful in LEGO form). With the track record of recent licensed themes (Indiana Jones, Prince of Persia, Pirates of the Carribean....), I'm very skeptical as to how well LEGO Lord of the Rings will fair. If it lasts 3 years I will consider it very successful. I have my doubts about it lasting longer than that. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Lord of the Rings. It ranks in my top 2 favorite movie franchises of all time (a distant 2nd to Star Wars). Whenever I come across Lord of the Rings on tv, I watch it, and I'm prompted to get out my DVDs and watch the other films. I just can't see this theme lasting as long as some people believe it will. The Lord of the Rings was extremely successful. I have my doubts about how successful the Hobbit will be. Really I hope I'm wrong. Only time will tell.

Review: 9494 - Anakin's Jedi Interceptor
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to ZoomZoom's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Don't hate me but this is also the one set that I'm absolutely looking forward to. It's a combination of the minfigs and the Jedi Starfighter that do it for me. They're both just vast improvements to and superior to the previous releases. I really can't wait until I see this set in person. I may break down and actually pay full retail for this one. I've gotta be strong, I've gotta be strong. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I wonder how well done Palpatine's Arrest is going to be done. This set has potential for a good amount of minifigs of the Jedi and Palpatine. As much as I love CW, I'd love updated minifigs of Palpatine and Mace Windu. I really can't wait to see some photos of this set. -

Thanks for confirming what I was already thinking. I may pick up an extra set for future trade fodder. -
Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Question: Is 7868 Mace Windu's Jedi Starfighter officially discontinued? - It's only been on shelves here in the U.S. for approximately 6 months. - Walmart put this set on clearance after the Holidays. - It is no longer available at U.S. Shop at Home. -
This is what doesn't make sense to me and anyone with more LEGO experience, please add to this. Why would LEGO say Castle will continue and then pull all the sets off of Shop at Home and from stores? If they were truly going to allow the Castle theme to continue, why would the only set available be one with a retail price of $119.99 USD? They're essentially leaving parents/kids with only the option of Lord of the Rings. To me, that's giving the Castle theme a death sentence.

Awesome job on your Castle. As already stated, I love how differently each building looks. You did a great job with the different colored bricks you used as well as the angles that make each building very distinct. I can't wait to see the other pictures you upload.

Future LotR and Hobbit sets
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great suggestion, I would love this. This set has a lot of potential. I would want LEGO to make this set with a high piece count to make sure that it comes out good. -
I hope LEGO continues to create Castle/Kingdoms while the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit theme is going. I'm very doubtful though because I don't think they'd want to have two themes competing towards the same audience. As a parent, I would purchase my kids Castle/Kingdoms sets if they were cheaper than Lord of the Rings/Hobbit sets. There's a possibility that 2012's Joust set will be a test to see how well it sells with the kickoff of the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit theme.

Beautiful MOC. I love how there's so much story and detail in such a compact scene. I like the multi-levels and the use of the light up bricks. Excellent job.
-
I would have to agree with you on your estimates. As much as I love Lord of the Rings, for me it's still a distant 2nd to Star Wars. I'm absolutely excited to see LEGO Lord of the Rings, more excited than I am for the 2012 Star Wars sets. I really hope the line succeeds but even if it lasts 3-5 years, I'll consider that very successful.

So, is the 7946 King's Castle gone?
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to eliminator's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I would snatch the King's Castle while the prices are still relatively reasonable. It's better to spend the money now than regret not purchasing the set and pay an incredible amount of money for it. Hopefully you'll be able to score one at a Walmart while they're currently 50% off. I think having a full size Castle available at all times is what LEGO has tried to do. My son got LEGO Castles in consecutive years for Christmas. He got 7094 - King's Castle Seige in 2009 and 7946 King's Castle in 2010. I really hope that LEGO releases a Castle type set in the Lord of the Rings line with a high piece count. -
I really thought I didn't spend too much money on LEGO Star Wars. Knowing that LEGO Lord of the Rings is coming out, I can honestly say I'm going to spend a lot of money on this line. I already gave warning to my wife and she doesn't believe I could get any worse. The first wave of sets look good and they can only get better.

Got my first Death Star almost 2 years ago and got a second one to keep sealed a year ago. The play features make this set arguably the best LEGO SW sets ever made.
