Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I enjoyed and thought this was a really good episode. I like how Palpatine is manipulating Anakin and feeding into his anger. I really think this is what's needed to bridge the gap in Anakins journey towards the dark side. -
My son is very familiar with your site. We've been folowing your SW dioramas for about 2-yrs now. It's funny because one of the first times my son saw your work, he asked how much the set cost because he wanted it. In fact, he's about ready to start making dioramas of his own. The only problem he's coming across is the amount of bricks/elements/colors we have in our collection. We're slowly but surely getting more though.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The new sets have already been trickling into TRU stores. -
Hopefully Castle/Kingdoms will live on and we'll get an exclusive set once a year. If Kingdoms Joust is successful enough, maybe this can lead to future sets.

Thanks for sharing another one of you dioramas. It's funny because whenever my son sees dioramas on my computer he asks me "Did the AC guy make that?" We're both fans of your work. Seeing your Romans in formation really leaves me wanting Lego to make some kind of "Civilizations" theme. That would be awesome.

I agree with all your points. The only exception is I love minifigs. The ones is this set look great but as you stated, that's the only thing I'm really excited about. I made the same connection w/PotC when I first saw the LotR sets, not impressed at all. Maybe something will click when I finally see these sets for myself.
-
Wow, talk about disappointment. Coming from a theme that is loved by so many, my initial thoughts is that something is missing. Are my expectations too high? I'm curious to see what the piece counts are for each of these sets.
-
The Fellowship looks awesome. This is a good start to a theme with such high expectations. I really can't wait to see official photos of the sets as I don't get excited by "preliminary" photos.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I can see Palpatine pulling something like this off only if there are other Jedi like Krell that have visions of the fall of the Jedi and become enemies of the Republic. It would then make sense for the clones to lose faith and have their doubts in the Jedi. -
For those who get the Nat Geo channel.

Darn it, I missed this. Luckily though it's going to air again Saturday, Jan 28th @ 9am (EST). DVR's set so all I have to do is wait and watch. -
Thanks for the thorough review and the excellent pictures. My son and I want to army build the Geonosians. I know not too many people are crazy about them but my son wants our clones to fight something other than battle droids.

Thanks for the review. I'm not too thrilled with the actual size of this. Like the mini-Venator, I feel it should be a little bigger. Am I expecting too much?

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

I would consider ourselves extremely lucky if this set is only 109.99. Especially if it's an exclusive and it ends up at Toys R Us. -
Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
I have wanted the Imperial Flagship since I first saw it. However I was always too busy focusing on LEGO SW and thought I had time later on to pick it up. I was really bummed when I discovered earlier this week that it was no longer listed on the S@H site. I checked Bricklink and eBay and the prices have skyrocketed. I found someone on Craigslist who wanted $200 for it, but when I asked, was told someone bought it and there was a ton of interest in it. Anyhow on a whim I decided to call S@H and see if maybe they had it in stock. The lady looked and guess what she said they had only 1 more in stock. I told her I'd take it but she warned me that there was a good chance it may be sold already. So, I waited nervously overnight for the "Your LEGO Order has Shipped" email and guess what. WOO-HOO!!! I just got the email. I can't even begin to describe how happy I am right now. I got the last one. -
The Evolution of Star Wars Minifigs
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The minfigs taking over the focus of TLG is just the nature of the beast. LEGO tested the market with the Collectible Minifigures and based on their success with that line, I don't blame them for producing outstanding minifigures. The shape and pieces of the minifigs have survived the test of time. I applaud the fact that they're making new accessories, headgear and legs for different minifigs. They're evolving as they should. What's more important? The minifigs or the sets themselves? That really depends on the type of collector you are. There's obviously a market for both. Personally there are times that I don't care for a specific set but want the minifig for my collection and there are times I want a set and could care less about the minifigs that accompany it. Either way I still love LEGO and in the end it's my choice to buy or not buy the products LEGO produce. I have to admit, my taste in LEGO is starting to evolve. I've recently branched a little from LEGO SW and have bought other themes. The whole releasing updates of older sets hasn't been interesting enough to me. For now I choose not to buy them but I'm sure in time I'll purchase them. -
Has anyone else noticed this or maybe it's just me? Legolas's right arm/shoulder seems awfully low to me. Shouldn't it be higher?

Just finished reading Book 7 of The Walking Dead. It was completely awesome. I know the show has minor differences but I hope the show heads in the same direction as the comic books.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion

If the bounty hunter in question is really Obi-Wan and he claimed to have killed Obi-Wan, how believable of a cover would it be if he had the same features? -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't see how Ahsoka can be in the Malevolence set over Padme either. Padme was on the Malevolence and Ahsoka wasn't. Pretty cut and dry to me. However if Ahsoka were to somehow be in the set, it wouldn't surprise me. I've given up trying to figure things out when it comes to Lego. -
Review: 30053 Republic Attack Cruiser
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to AlexScammer's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I had really high hopes for this set when I first saw it. I hadn't opened and built this set myself but the other day a friend at work had one on his desk at work. I found this set very underwhelming and way too small. I know it's a mini set but it looked way too small compared to some of the other minis. -
Battle Of Endor 8038 getting harder to find?
Sir_Basil_Ashton replied to into the blue's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Toys R Us is the only store I've seen it in for the past year here in the USA. It's also available through Amazon for a $13.00 mark-up. I would avoid eBay at all costs unless you find a deal. -
Different people (both children and adults) start on LEGO at different ages. Personally I really wished I would have started sooner. Right now I'm trying to build up the family collection so that my kids have a nice inventory to make their own creations with. I've also gotten all of my nephews, nieces and a lot of friend's children into Lego. They all hate me of course because it's an expensive hobby. I'm very grateful for resellers because I've been able to get my kids older (discontinued) sets and certain minifigs that they want. The majority of the older sets I purchase are used but I've been fortunate with getting sets that are in really good condition.
-
This may sound silly but I personally prefer to build from a paper manual. I don't like looking at a screen as I build... maybe it's the glare or something. I like to have a manual in my hand where I can look at it closely. I know I can use zoom on a computer but I like to visually see the whole thing.

First of all, I've made it a rule to never buy a set at full price. However I will break my rule under two circumstances. 1) Prior to the Holidays of 2011, I bought the new LEGO SW BPs (plus the sets were only $10.99) when they were released right before Christmas as a gift to my son. I wanted him to have something that was just released and that his friends wouldn't have. That trend was broken this past year with the different release date. 2) The set is an exclusive (specifically the 5 digit sets) that I won't find at retail stores and the only way for me to get it is at a LEGO store. Even then I try to hold out for sale or a LEGO promo like "May the 4th" and/or free shipping. I always buy sets on sale for myself and my kids. When sets go on sale, I buy extras to sell off the minifigs and increase the amount of bricks that my family can build from. I will also buy sets that are 50% off to sell or trade at a later date to get sets I really want that I could not get otherwise. My family has only been collecting LEGO heavily for about 3 years now. Personally I don't really care about the massive increases in price because it's simple supply and demand. If there is demand for a set after LEGO discontinues a set or line, then people who want the sets bad enough will pay for them. Every person has their own threshold on what they're willing to pay for specific sets. As already stated, if people didn't buy sets to resell, I wouldn't have been able to get older sets that I missed out on.
