    Questions on creating Earth/Rocks...

Sirens, This is actually very close to what I envision our scene will look like, very impressive work. I will check out your MOC build, and thanks again for the share.

This has been a favorite series of mine for some time, and it is so incredible to see you doing such a wonderful job bring life to it in this way. Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing much more.

    Hammers, Maces and Mauls

Clone, thank you for the info and scolding... It does indeed work on a mac and will prove quite a useful addition to the quiver of tools we have here. Cheers, Enlighter

    Hammers, Maces and Mauls

These are all quite awesome... Curious what program all of you prefer to use and if it works on a mac?

    Questions on creating Earth/Rocks...

I found these on BrickShelf, some interesting builds. Right now I am looking into joints and what will hold up with the most weight (although not a deal breaker as we will most likely use supports for the weight). Curious if anyone has any info to share on joint building for fully (close enough) articulating joints. Brickshelf Monster #1 Also another nice ref work can be found here. Brickshelf Monster #2 Again, thanks so much in advance for any who are able to respond.

    Kingdoms 2012?

Sincerely hope Kingdoms isn't coming to an end... The medieval theme has been such a staple in Lego's for so many years... :: (

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Stunning work, love seeing snow in MOC's... If I might make one suggestion? The snow that you have sliding off the roof sections, maybe have what's already fallen off show piled on the ground below, or on lower sections of the building? Beyond impressive piece of work though :: ) another creation that makes me happy I joined this community. Cheers, Enlighter
  9. Greetings all, hope I am posting this in the right location. Please inform me if I have not. My question/s are quite simple and hopefully I can gain some knowledge from the experts here. I am looking to create an Earth/Rock golem that is roughly 5-6 lego characters tall. I have been working to mock some up using mostly slanted bricks (using some of the rock wall methods I have seen on here), however I am failing to come up with anything interesting/alive (for lack of a better word). I am curious if anyone here has dabbled with the creation of such a creature, or if anyone might be able to point me in the direction of some techniques I might be able to utilize? I thank anyone who responds in advance, and will gladly post pictures as my work progresses and share any insights I might come to on my own along the way. Cheers, Enlighter
  10. Just wanted to say that I am happy to have joined your community here, let you know how I found it, who I am, and why I decided to join. First and foremost it was Derfel Cadarn and his wonderful work on the medieval village that brought me here. Have practically memorized his write up and have since been fascinated by so many others works on here. A bit about myself, I run a small video game studio out of Vermont (in the states) and have been a passionate lego collector from a very very young age (mostly vintage space themed sets). Beyond that our studio has been dabbling in stop motion work to introduce our next project as we develop the engine for the game itself. If anyone has any interest you can check out our current game project on facebook, can't post links just yet so just type in "jiblifegame" and you will find our page. As stated above, Derfel was a big proponent, along with other members, in why I decided to join. More importantly though, I am looking to learn from the members and experts here about some techniques you use to create everything from a small scene, all the way up to a full scale environment. I also hope to challenge many here with new ideas and techniques to see if we can't all have some fun and learn from one another. We will also be providing all the techniques we are using in our stop motion work, many of which originated from works we saw here and grew from stand still into fully animated visuals. Thank you for letting me join, and I hope to learn as much as possible at the same time educate to the best of my ability on personal techniques I am using. Cheers, Enlighter

A Guide to building a Medieval Village

I just wanted to chime in here and say, firstly, incredible guide Derfel. We are working on a stop motion web series and your guide basically saved our set designs and actually helped us come up with creative ways to animate things beyond what we had thought up already. So to the quote quickly, the brown hose can be extremely hard to find and we are not sure if this would be a substitute for the 3mm brown that was ONLY found in that single viking set, and in very small lengths. Either way wanted to share to see what your thoughts on using this would be as this seller has quite good stock of it. Since we can't post links yet, the BrickLink shop is BlockBricks Custom and the hose is the 4mm pneumatic. They have enough of it in stock for all of us it would seem and they ship world wide. Hopefully the 4mm isn't too thick to work properly I am sure Derfel can chime in on this. Cheers
