  1. I wonder if they are just leaving it up there until August 1st? I sure hope not because I want it NOW! :cry_happy:

But for real $30 is a good price for the set! I was considering only bricklinking Spidey but for that price I figure I can crack and pick it up

There must have been very limited stock, as I was able to order one. Should arrive next week!

  2. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but Amazon now lists a book called 'LEGO Star Wars: Anakin to the Rescue' that's slated for a September release. The cover art points quite strongly to new Episode II sets.

I really hope that we will be getting some Episode II sets next year - this has been a real void of late.

Speaking of which, it should be almost time for our "LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors" thread, correct? Probably a bit into July?

  3. Let me clarify that I don't dislike TCW series itself. I certainly don't love it, but having seen the bulk of three seasons of the series, I can say that I am "lukewarm" to it with some specific reservations and misgivings. I do recognize that it is providing us with new SW content, but I do not subscribe to the idea that a "true fan" is someone who joyfully accepts whatever Lucasfilm sends his way.

My issue is with the LEGO's stylized intepretation. As others have mentioned, the CW videogame did a much better job with many characters in this regard.

  4. I have to note that the last year or so has started to see a possible swing back towards the movie-based sets being more predominant. 2011 had a few big PT sets and this year we are seeing a LOT of OT sets being released. Maybe TLG is starting to shift gears, especially with the movies returning to theaters.

*And Ki-Adi-Mundi, if they release a Cloud City and a Mos Eisley next year? That would be amazing!!!

  5. what a pointless discusion. It would be better for you guys to concentrate on building big quality sw mocs instead of bitch about couple of printed lines on minifig head.

Obviously it is not pointless, as quite a few people have something to say on the matter, both in this thread and in previous.

And I do not recall when you were made arbiter of what should or should not be discussed in this forum.

  6. Even though I am a child of the OT, I don't mind the PT. I don't think they are equal by any means, but I think I get where Lucas was going with the story, even though he had a hard time conveying it at times. Some of the character and vehicle designs in the prequels are my favorites though.

When I heard about the upcoming "Palpatine's Arrest" set I was excited by the prospect of a non-CW Mace Windu and Chancellor Palpatine. But when I look at the "Clone Turbo Tank" at the store, I am thinking "wow, they did a good job on this revision" for the vehicle and then "ugh, more ugly doll-face minifigs", and so I put it back down. I end up feeling like I am missing out, and hoping for a new version sometime in the next 10 year, because I got back into SW LEGO far too late for the original Turbo Tank to be an affordable option. Yes, I could just ignore the minifigs in these sets, and buy them purely for the vehicles, but that doesn't feel right to me (plus I would have a lot of unmanned vehicles LOL).

  7. This has probably been covered by someone earlier, but I wanted to throw my own 2 cents out there to see what others thought.

Simply put, I cannot deal with the CW minifigs.

I started collecting only SW IV-VI sets, because those are the movies I grew up with, and like many I have a few "hurt feelings" about how the prequels turned out. The "Anakin & Sebulba's Podracers" set turned me around on buying prequel LEGO though, as IMO that set is very well-designed and full of vibrant colors.

Since then I've picked up most of the recent SW I-III sets, but I draw the line with the CW sets. Half the reason I buy licensed LEGO sets is for the minifigs, and I am so off-put by the CW faces and designs (even the clone troopers) that it actually stops me from purchasing them. Instead, I find myself hoping that someday the Venator, the Republic Frigate, and the recent Geonosis sets among many others will get reissued with "regular" minifigs. And when sets like this year's Jedi Interceptor get announced, I am happy to see that it is not yet again a CW set.

Anyone else have this hang-up? I realize the CW series is nearing its end, but it has kind of put a damper on collecting the prequel LEGO for me.
