$30 LoSS with Pewku legs and web shooter. Solves the articulation issue, front legs can be posed, back legs move automatically so kids can drive him. Anyone wanna make this?

I imagine if there is a 7th toa they probably will name him Takua for familiarity (and dropping the Nuva in the case that they don't upgrade considering it wouldn't make sense). I personally think it's likely because the extra member trope is a popular one (just look at Power Rangers, they definitely have the colours). And yes, please make it funmetal. Gold/trans yellow blend please?

But seriously I'm just here to discuss plastic, no need to go all Vietnam on us. You make it sound like a cardinal sin to discuss the Vahi or the story. It's speculation, and speculation makes for good discussion.

Well besides the VVBN suggestion of 11 Galis I'd recommend Lewa any day. The only thing really going for Pohatu is his colour. His weapons are flimsy, he has the least pieces out of the toa, and to top it off he has nothing interesting with his shoulders (which kinda accentuates his lack of parts).

Honestly something that plays like Monster Hunter or Dark Souls (albeit without the difficulty) would be cool, both games have an explorative aspect to them and in a series which was based on a mystical island, I feel people underestimate how cool just exploring can be. Perhaps a 3DS game like most recent LEGO games?

I dunno, last time I checked an associate from ToyFair admitted they were doing very well (I think one of the Atamaii videos).

As for the argument of complexity, I'm gonna say it. I regard both gens with equal complexity, but they are complex for different reasons. Protectors blow the Av-Toran out the water, and I feel they stand up really well when compared to Matoran of previous years, especially considering the increased playability. The Medium sets are a bit more even. A lot of the medium sets in Bionicle's later years could be built without instructions for the most part, though there were sets that utilised pieces in unique ways (Strakk and Skrall come to mind). The CCBS is fairly straightforward but it does allow for impressive utility and with good parts usage can cover the back. Titans are the hardest to judge because we haven't really recieved any Bionicle titans yet with the exception of the three larger Masters and Skull Grinder, though IMO those are more akin in size to a set like Mutran and Vican (slightly cheaper than a titan if memory serves me rightly). This view is reinforced by the pricing here. Titans would be £20-£25 yet the larger sets are £15. I feel I have to wait and see if any true titans are released before I make a proper opinion.

Not sure if anyone's made this point but I've noticed that all the trans masks correlate to that particular villain's colour. Hence why we have no Tahu/Gali mask, more unfortunate for the latter.

Well for sake of HF discussion I do feel that ultimately BA was a letdown compared to BO. BO introduced a series of new molds and a launcher piece which was fairly compact and gave most sets that had it a function instead of just looking nice (Furno XL comes to mind). The heroes all had 1.0 heads which sounds lazy but gives them personality after the soulless heads of the previous year. Various traits are also shown in how they're constructed (BO Bulk vs BA Bulk) and it felt like they gave all the heroes little nuances which was nice. BA did give us a lot of new pieces and despite the loss of the launcher did incorporate more technic functions, which was interesting though at the expense of Bruizer and Scarox (the latter of which was nothing special anyway) with only Dragon Bolt really pulling it off. The new pieces for the most part were pretty neat like the new chest piece and some of the add on pieces like those rock pieces. However that disgusting brain piece just ruins it. I'm aware it's for plot purposes but they don't even spend that much time doing much significant in the episode (though I'm more talking about the creatures). It's so obnoxiously large and has so few connection points that doing anything effective with it requires some serious skill. It's a shame too because it ruins so many potential head pieces (Aquagon). In fact I think someone else brought this up earlier but I'm just gonna say it. Aquagon is terribad. He's so painfully bland and uninteresting, his brain sticks out so much due to lack of a function taking space on his back and the only reason I brought him was for his swords, though to that end I wish I just picked up Laval. I honestly think they made BA just so they could make awful brain puns.

Guys! Guys! Seriously. I have your evidence. For sake of being serious, I do think it is a strange topic, and one I don't particularly want an answer to. Don't need robots teaching us the birds and the bees.

    (MOC) Toa Nuva Groosi

I'm not gonna sugarcoat this. The MOC is really bad. If that was the point, then congrats. Otherwise I see no reason for this design. The colours are a mess, he has three arms and an Avtoran body, a broken Gresh helmet on a Piraka skull on the same leg that's attached to a Rahkshi body. Just...what even? To put this on the same level as the Toa Nuva seems a tad pretentious all things considered. I really hope you didn't break the Gresh helmet just for this.

For those asking about the mask. :) Apologies for the large size of the photo, I had to upload it in a rather unorthodox fashion.

Got my hero pack today, mask is glorious and the extra skull spider is nice, even if it could have been red. What IS interesting is the extra material. The mini comic is stuff we've seen before and the stickers are obnoxiously shiny to the point of inducing a massive headache. The map is the best part. The masks are drawn somewhat differently in a way which somewhat falls between the Euro comics and the online animations, but set accurate. Another point I find interesting is the masks on the opposite side. They are stock from the sets, but Pohatu's mask is noticably darker than the set form akin to the brown used on Ogrum and CHI Mungus. Added into the bag itself portraying the prototype MoC amd one has to wonder how much of this is preliminary.

Well judging from the animations and the set's general response is the original function even worth it? It is simple and compact parts wise but it compromises a lot of the set's size and playability. If anything it's worse than Dragon Bolt considering he was at least the size of the largest hero barring Jet Rocka. Alas, my point is if he was at a higher price point (£15-£25 or $20-$30) I do believe he could have pulled off both the size and the function. He could probably keep the aesthetic by using the super large chestplate used on Onua.

Not being funny but why would anyone do that? Europeans get it for free, though I'm assuming you are European considering. By the time the pack arrives from you it'll be halfway through February, only a few weeks before they can get it for free with something else.

I understand being unique, but this isn't always about being unique, its about making a set that looks good. I feel the numerous bone-bones do the job enough, the other exposed bones feel a bit overkill IMO.

Okay, had a good look at all the sets, so I can judge the individual sets, except Ekimu. His design is sort of a given and is pretty much perfect. Skull Grinder: That head design is pretty sweet, and the gearbox looks interesting. Out of all the sets I think he pulls off the aesthetic best. Will be modding all of them of course but he has the strongest base. Skull Basher: Hard to judge the function as it isn't very clear. The horns will be a problem assuming they don't edit the headpiece. That mask is gonna pop off like all the time. Other than that he doesn't look too bad. Skull Scorpio: Now for the good stuff. Skull Scorpio is the definition of "mixed bag". His legs don't articulate, his colours are questionable and his stature is lacking. However he makes up for that with an amazing function. From what I can tell you pull on a lever on the tail and it simultaneously lunges forward while snapping the two blades together. This does have the side effect of having the tail look a mess, but it's a hell of a lot better than LOSS' function. Skull Warrior: Reeks of foot soldier, though that's sort of a given. Can't say I'm a fan of the stud launcher, so his weapon doesn't really do much for me. He pulls off the zombie aesthetic pretty decently due to the random placement, so that's cool. Could do without the random trans-orange though. Skull Slicer: Okay, beating a dead horse, easily worst of the line. He feels more bare bones than XT4. XT4 had a thin spindly aesthetic so it works. Skull Slicer has large chest armor, two shoulder pieces and there's your lot. He does have a cool function, but considering how well armoured the three smaller toa were I can't help but feel slightly ripped off. Final note, I don't like the new mixed toa masks, again because Tahu and Gali lack them. I can see this being a story thing, like slowly upgrading/downgrading the toa with each set, but the distribution is odd. Also some of them just look weird.

Can't help but feel these bones are gonna be a one-time thing. They have some neat aspects but good god the execution is bad. Slicer looks unfinished. Not even gonna sugarcoat it.

Okay, now that the initial shock has died down (a phenomenon I shall now dub "Black Phantom Syndrome") I'm warming up to the bones provided they don't become an excuse to use less shells in future sets. The chest isn't as cheap looking as I thought it did and the colours are a bit more normal. Though like other posts, I will complain about the eye colour. You've got all this trans-red everywhere, was it so hard to just give him red eyes?

[REVIEW]: 70790 Lord of Skull Spiders

Recently got him and did indeed replace the limbs with CCBS. Unfortunately he is pretty much a level 1 boss, which wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't the only villain. Granted that's what wave 2 is for, but from the perspective of a kid, you have all these heroic characters who have nothing to fight except a somewhat large spider. Something I find curious is the pricing and the size of it. I'm baffled as to why he isn't a higher price tag, higher even than the £15/$20 sets. I get it, he's supposed to be accessible for most consumers, but in all other media LOSS is much larger and there is emphasis on the toa fighting him as a team, when in reality he is technically smaller than half of them by default, and equal at best to the others. I don't think a Witch Doctor sized set would have been too much of a gamble considering you only require one of him. Makes a good parts pack though.

Even this makes more sense as a set than the unfinished mess we've seen thus far. http://i.imgur.com/rtFElhG.gif All joking aside I really hate how overdesigned everything is. Those new bones are atrocious. Was it really necessary to have a bone with NO connection points?

Bleh, I'll wait to see pictures to get a better opinion but from what I can grasp they don't hold a candle to any of the winter wave so far, and come off as "bare-bones" (excuse the pun). EDIT: Slightly less blurry pictures. Still can't judge in detail, but again these look bad with the exception of the MM vs SG set. I'm honestly in disbelief that this is what we're getting after the stellar first wave. The colours are a mess, there's so many thin limbs, and those new part designs are uuuuuugly!! Like seriously, haven't seen such overdesigned parts since 2009.
