Lego BrickHeadz 2018 - Rumors & Discussion
badbob001 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think it's the Belle brickheadz that is turning me off from this series. The fully uncovered face looks like something from a muppet or any number of characters from Behemoth games. At least the Black Widow face has bangs. I just know that in the middle of the night, I will hear a sudden "MEEP" from the direction of my display shelf. If that reference is too dated for you: -
Lego BrickHeadz 2018 - Rumors & Discussion
badbob001 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's a play feature for the eventual zombie brickheadz figure. I'm on the fence for these, but I'll probably get the first wave just in case I fall in love with them a few waves later and don't have to overpay for the previous waves. Besides, I need to order $75 worth to get that Lego Batman Movie polybag. Damn you LEGO! -

Do you think this will be sold separately in stores later? I think some promotional items later turn up in Target. -
Index of large-scale versions of sets (looking for 487 Space Cruiser)?
badbob001 replied to badbob001's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wow! That's cool. I don't think I've even heard of 'Bricks 'n Pieces'. My childhood brain is telling me that it was the smaller 924/487 companion ship that I saw and not the 928/497 one, but you know kids and their memories. :) I think the article made a mistake when calling the ship the Space Cruiser as that is the name of the smaller ship while the larger ship is the Galaxy Explorer. What, no google search in 1979? :) -
Index of large-scale versions of sets (looking for 487 Space Cruiser)?
badbob001 posted a topic in General LEGO Discussion
Is there a website or even books that document the large-scale version of sets that LEGO creates for displays? Around 30+ years ago, back when Macy's in Manhattan had a full toys section, I think I remember a full-scale version of the 487 Space Cruiser hanging from the ceiling. I'm wonder if that existed anywhere else (or was I dreaming) and if there are any pictures of it. -
How do you display your modular building collection?

That sounds like a great idea! Have you tried adjusting the door hinges to close up the middle gap? Also, is there enough clearance to put non-corner buildings on the shelves next to the door hinges? -
Best body position to build Lego?
badbob001 replied to Zerobricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It depends. If I'm building a new set, I can just empty the bags into a few shallow containers and comfortably build sitting before a table. But if I'm building a MOC and need to search my parts that are organized into little storage containers, I need to stand up and hunch a bit as I peer into or reach for each container. It can get rather tiring. -
How do you build a set flipped/mirrored?
badbob001 replied to badbob001's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I completed my mirror build of Santa's Workshop via computer-flipped instructions and the one thing I forgot to account for are that certain pieces can't be easily flipped, like wedge plates and doors. But it was fun to figure around these challenges. I just added a poll. -
Merry Christmas! I finally got around to building a mirror image of the Santa's workshop and combined it with the original. I originally got two of the set primary so that Santa has his full set of reindeer. I couldn't find a good way to combine the free Santa workshed as is, so I merged the interior into the second tower, which needed taller walls to fit everything properly. The arms raising Santa are from a Bandai Tamashii Stage Act 4 kit.

How do you display your modular building collection?
badbob001 replied to yanathin's topic in LEGO Town
It's too bad about the Billy, since it has the nice looking Morliden doors, which are full-length glass and very thin frame: (not my photo) IKEA use to offer thin-frame glass doors for other cabinets/bookcase systems but have since discontinued all of them. Grr. Now I'm wondering if I can take a 93" tall PAax frame and turn it sideways so I can hold 9 modules horizontally on each level, for a proper street look.. And the 22" depth will allow a full street plate to sit in front of each building. The only problem is that I'm not sure how I would cover this. Pax does have sliding doors with annoying frosted glass that will need to be replaced with regular glass or acrylic (not cheap), but I don't think there is an easy way to make sliding doors work when they are turned sideways (curse you gravity). -

Can someone please confirm if the IKEA Billy bookcase can actually fit three full modulars per shelf? The specs says the shelves are 30 inches wide, so that should fit 3 x 10" baseplates. -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

The Ghostbusters HQ is 32x32+16x32. Just put it on a corner with the long side facing you. -
Doesn't every AFOL have that dream where he or she is a time traveler who can get all the old sets when they were new and get all the future sets before everyone else?

One thing to consider is that Jaime likes to put in little details that are best appreciated during the build process, which adds extra fun to the build. Examples include the sidewalk lettering in the Corner Cafe and the mouse hole in the Pet Shop. So the interiors are probably too cramp to play with after the build, they are certainly fun to do during the build. Some may consider these buildings more like models than playsets, most likely due to the lack of a way to view a cross-section of the building.

Regarding the roadplate issue, you could: Add a 32x16 plate to one side. The 32x16 plate could be a new mini-park (use those Fun In The Park pieces), one of the Petshop buildings, or a side-market like the one used in Market Street. Buy TWO Assembly Square sets and add it to the existing. There are some great mockups of this in the thread. If you have the Ghostbuster HQ, which also is made of 32x32 + 32x16, just place it SIDEWAYS on the street so the main door faces to the right or left instead of towards you.

I would think that if the series ever ends, it'll be because Jaime has moved on from doing it. Or maybe Jaime can take a break and Lego can hire that guy doing the Lego Idea Old Fishing Store and create a whole series of fishing village buildings.

I think people have been wanting a wall of shops and this certainly delivers that. I'm glad they still have stairs to every floor and not rely on teleportation, but all the shops do have to share stairs and doors. It does seem very cramp and I'm afraid I'm going to destroy something whenever I need to reach in. Someone get with the photoshop so we can figure out which modulars looks best connected to this.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
badbob001 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I hope we don't get another Grand Emporium style building. Out of all the modulars, the building process for that was the most boring and tedious. I love it when there are surprises and little details that you only notice during the build, like the mouse hole and stain-glass window in the Petshop. -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
badbob001 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Regarding Market Street, also consider this evidence: Also, Market Street is shown alongside the Green Grocer and Cafe Corner in the Green Grocer instructions. In any case, I don't think the 10th Anniversary "announcement" proves or disproves your theory. Cafe Corner, the first modular, came out in 2007. The 10th Anniversary set will come out in 2017, 10 years later. Nothing yet about it being the 10th modular. If that set is real, it'll probably have some history info in the booklet and we'll then see if Market Street is mentioned. -
I was wondering how batgirl's wings were attached and initially though they hung off her neck like minifigure attachments. But with the bubblebee shot, it's clear that the wings attach from the waist. I hope the wings are hard plastic and not plastic film.
