Minifigures Character Encyclopedia 2013

It looks like the "bio" for each figure is almost an exact copy or an abbreviation of the bio info on the LEGO website. I guess these books are getting easier and easier to put together.- 68 replies

It'll be funny if the mech looks like a Gundam. -
Minifigures Character Encyclopedia 2013

From the sample pages, it looks like it confirms that S9 and S10 will NOT contain a: fisherman snowboarder skier Of course, no guarantee they won't throw in a girl skate boarder to balance out the existing three. Frankly, those pages look so bland and uninteresting, similar but worse than the little blurb you find on the cardboard backing of a G.I.Joe action figure. I may only get it if the included minifigure is fantastic. Perhaps something silly like an early minifigure... in solid gold. :)- 68 replies

I just read a thread about LEGO damage from UV rays being the biggest thing to worry. If I have my lego figures in my plastic (vivak plastic) wall display case (see above) and in a 2nd floor room with double-pane windows but no direct sunlight, should I be okay? Or should I cover my display with a cloth or something when I'm not looking at it? I think regular plastic or glass blocks out most UV rays but perhaps not all types of UV. I don't want to have my collection fade in color but it seems like a waste to hide them.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion

I hope those wings are clipped on to real arms or held by the hands instead of being a whole replacement for the arms. It would then make them much more re-usable (arm armor?). -
Ellie Phillips' hair piece from LEGO City Undercover: is it real?
badbob001 posted a topic in LEGO Town
There is a character called Ellie Phillips in the upcoming LEGO City Undercover game and I really like her hair piece. Does anyone know if the hair piece is based on an actual lego piece? If not, I hope they release a Chase McCain set that includes her (hair). -

Found another shot of Ellie and her hair. This is starting to feel a bit stalker-ish. Her hair seems to be long in the back. -

L@go, thanks for the tip about the Friend's hairpiece. I have to try it out. Faefrost, I never thought about using the surfer / skate boader's hair on a female, but it does seem to work alright. It does look the closest to Ellie's hair, but not quite. It would be interesting to see what hairpiece is used in the actual sets. -
Ellie Phillips' hair piece from LEGO City Undercover: is it real?
badbob001 replied to badbob001's topic in LEGO Town
The Rocker Girl's hair does have a similar texture, but is too puffy (like a wig) and is missing the important side-swept of the middle bangs. I think I'll have to wait until 2013 to see if this hair becomes available. Since mini-figures mostly have the same bodies, female hair is so significant in gender differentiation. Anyone else compelled to make sure their female minifigures look different from each other, such as with differing and unique hair pieces? Maybe my subconscious is constantly nagging me about the fashion faux pas of females showing up with matching looks. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion

I would love to have a Medusa character with a woman torso and a serpent bottom, like the one from ninjago: I would love to be able to create a Naga character from Xanth. Would that snake bottom be too bulky for a CMF bag? -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
badbob001 replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
In regards to the Alien with the Space Marine armor, it makes sense from a pairing perspective. Many CMF can be grouped in pairs (good marketing) and the 'space' theme CMF could have these pairings: white space guy + black space guy pink space girl + female alien gray robot + black robot gray alien + green/purple alien space marine + ????? So the space marine alien looks like a good fit, if you accept that the gray alien is 'good'. -

Previous Minifigures series will be released again next year
badbob001 replied to JeagerEX's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If they decide to re-release the older sets, they should be as close to the originals as possible. I don't mind allowing people to buy sets that they missed, but don't try to double-dip current owners by releasing modified special editions. -

If it were possible to leak super secretive pre-launch iphone 5 parts from china, then it can't be much harder for the same to happen for chinese-sourced lego parts. -

Custom non-lego but lego compatible baby bricks (inhale) were made (link). Original flavor: Zombie flavor: And lego micro figures are baby-ish. I have both the pink and blue one in the middle, and though the pink one may pass for a toddler, the blue one needs a shave first. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
badbob001 replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I suppose Silverish Grey is close to the Light Grey brick color. I add colored plates to my CMF bases that matches the series color and I hope LEGO doesn't throw out a series color that has no matching brick color or is hard to find. I heard a rumor that series 10 will be Gold, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do since I've already used Yellow. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 9 Rumours & Discussion
badbob001 replied to muscleman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Licensed minifigures would not have yellow skin, making them hard to integrate with the existing series. I like to use parts from my CMF collection to make unique figures and I can't do that with most of the body parts from licensed minifigures. -
For the four I ordered, shipping was $32, and I live in the States as well. The other display cases are nice, but to me, some are too much cramp like a cryogenic pod, where you're not expected to touch their contents for a long time. Now that I have all my figures in place, I'll probably soon re-rearrange them and I have so much space to do that. It's more fun to be able to touch and move them around them on occasion. And having all my figures attached to their bases makes it much easier to move and push them around like chess pieces.

Thanks to kasmca, I bought the same display cases from here: http://www.custom-wall-displays.com/. I got four and arranged them close together. These cases are made by the vendor on his spare-time (not part-time) so it took more than a month for me to receive them. But they look great and are very clear. Here is a side shot with the covers off. Each case is mainly made of three pieces of plastic, not including the cover. A large piece is molded to form the outer case. Two smaller pieces are each molded into a bracket shape "[" to create two shelves each. Each shelf also has a little lip fold that helps prevent things from sliding off. Six tiny "L" shape pieces are glued to the brackets at various areas to connect the shelves to the main case. A minor complaint is that the middle of two shelves has an "L" piece in the top-side middle, which presents some unevenness, depending on how deep your display item is. The bottom shelf has "L" pieces on the top-side as well but at the ends, so it's not as bad. I would like to go on a tangent and discuss how each minifigure is displayed. As you can see, I have added pieces under each minifigure plate that matches the color of the corresponding series. This makes it much easier and faster to reorganize everything back together by series. Now I can play around by arranging figures into groups based on color, story, job, etc but still can tell from which series each comes from. I originally though of using a row of four 1x1 plate pieces instead of the current 4x1 in the front side and using a binary numbering system for each minifigure to match their ordering in the series catalog sheet. So for example, 0 = black, 1 = color 0 = 0000, 1 = 0001, 2 = 0010, ... 1111 = 15 But buying many hundreds of 1x1 pieces is pretty expensive and the usage of 1x1 black pieces made the colors not stand out as much. And I had the series 8 delimma where it would be black on black (thought of using dark grey). Another issue was that I didn't like having figures that couldn't attach to the base, like those with ice skates, skis, etc. I've seen workarounds where the figure holds their accessories, but that seems rather boring. Here is how I tried to solve that. For the ones with surf boards, you can simply attach them to the plate horizontally, but I didn't like the unnatural look of them going perfectly sideways into the adjacent figure. So I did this. I like how I can put them flush with each other. The skiers were especially tricky since it's hard to attach directly from the back, so I used an L plate to attach from the side. Another L plate is used to attach to the base. The ones with feet attachments were pretty straight-forward, but specific pieces are needed to ensure the ice skates are aligned correctly so they touch the base between the pegs and not look like they are floating. I couldn't really think of a cool way to arrange the skate boarders so I just attached them at an angle. Anyone have them doing a tricky move? I didn't like the mime having two extra heads just floating around so I bought extra bodies for them. Here is how the bottom looks like. Thoughts? Suggestions? Is there a thread speculating the colors of the next bags?

This android app is $3 USD. The book is $80. It's such a no-brainer that the app is so worth the little it costs, especially when you consider than the app data can be updated with corrections and additions unlike a physical book. It's so nice to be able to browse all the minifigures in the entire LEGO history, and these appear to be high resolution photos taken by the author and not rips from web sources. Please help support the author so he can continue to release yearly updates.

The Unofficial LEGO Collectors Guide RAFFLE

In my youth, I remember staring dreamily at the tiny LEGO catalog's even tinier photo of set 6390 Main Street. But I think I will settle for something with a little more play: 497 Galaxy Explorer. -
Hey, the new box art just let me know that an Android version is now available. Just installed it and too bad it gives an error that my device resolution is not supported. From the new box art, I can't tell if it has the same number of pieces as the previous version, but they did lower the age rating from 14+ to 8+ (wow, kids are getting iphones at what age now?).
