New DK Lego books coming this year
badbob001 replied to legolijntje's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The LEGO Minifigure Year by Year book now has a cover shot: This is the version with three minifigures included: This is the book version without the figures (for libraries, etc): The DK site has more info and some inside pages: http://www.dk.co.uk/...9333128,00.html So do you think the three minifigures shown are the final ones to be released with the book? Townsperson Stormtrooper Robber I'm not sure if I would consider these 'classic' minifigures. The robber is rather recent. Maybe the stormtrooper, but the design hasn't really changed over its history. I suppose they have to throw in some Star Wars since that license practically saved the company. The townsperson seems rather blah. Which three classic minifigures would you include? A classic space one (yellow?) would be nice. Maybe a classic fire or police officer (with printed buttons of course instead of the original sticker). It may be too much to ask for a knight from the original yellow castle era (they don't make any of those helmet pieces anymore). I'm surprised one of the minifigure is not female, but I suppose you can argue about the stormtrooper for that. -
Can you confirm that the boy's hair is not a new mold but the same mold as this one? Now imagine the "uproar" if the boy was dressed similar to the minifigure above. Of course, the lack of a shirt would greatly limit his use to just water scenarios and decorative purposes.

LEGO Club now has a minifigure timeline that is far from comprehensive and reads like advertising for Series 10, but I didn't expect there is be a glaring mistake on their own product: As far as I know, those are NOT Duplo figures. Were these even called minifigures at the time? I actually owned one of these a long time ago:

Mistake in LEGO's minifigure timeline?
badbob001 replied to badbob001's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Perhaps the LEGO Club editor got confused by these? Handy Guide: DUPLO figures: safe(ish) for your child to put in his or her mouth. Minifigures: not safe for very young children. *Your* collectible minifigures: not for children. :) -
Since there will be a high school, the girls will have to be at least 14. Safest bet is 16 so they all can drive cars and be in the same classes.

This is very nice. I love the basement windows and the little details in the kitchen. How does one get the roof anyway other than via the "hand of god"?

So is LEGO popular to any degree in Japan these days? A relative recently visited Japan and bought me a Japanese-made nanoblock. I haven't even opened the box yet. :)

Minifigures Character Encyclopedia 2013
badbob001 replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I hope they include a black plate with the figure so it can stand with his friends. I don't see one in the released photos. I'm surprised that it comes with a rifle. I don't think LEGO has ever previously included hand accessories with any of the minifigures packed in a book/dvd (not counting the brickmaster "books"). In related news, Amazon now has the *other* DK minifigure book for pre-order: http://www.amazon.co...y/dp/1465414118 It retails for $40, has 256 pages, and I think it comes out on Sept. 16 2013. Previous information says that this book will come with three minifigures and I can believe that given how much more it costs compared to the 208 page CMF book.- 68 replies

On Bricklink, Wanted > By Shop will rank the stores by how much of my Wanted List they have, but since no one store has everything I want, it's hard to figure out what items are missing from one store and needs to be bought from another. I also have my list on BrickStore and was hoping that it could import several shopping carts so I can visually see which store has what (is that what the Tier 1, Tier 2, etc stuff in BrickStore is for?) but shopping cart importing is not working. I did convert the BrickStore file to Excel and started to go through each vendor store and mark off what items they have from the list, but stopped because I wanted to see if there is a better way. Do people just open up several browser windows and start comparing that way?

At first I was pretty ho-hum about the train platform areas but it got pretty exciting once I saw the interiors, especially the basement/sub-platform areas.

This is really nice. There seems to be some hallway space on the third floor, where you could put a tiny concession stand or at least a popcorn cart. Or have girls in the aisles with trays of snacks and uh, candy cigarettes.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Golden Minifigure Discussion
badbob001 replied to TrumpetKing's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I hope they make the gold figure a re-color of the existing 16 figures in the series, which means it will be impossible to feel for it. That means sellers will buy up stock of all figures like crazy to find them. And when they have so much inventory, hopefully that will mean lower prices. Brahahaha.- 87 replies

Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability

Why does S9 sold directly from Amazon (not a third party) have a list price of $4.99? Are vendors jacking up the price to take advantage of the popularity? Along with LEGO's artificial shortage of certain S9 figures, the future of the CMF seems a bit more shady. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion

I'm more worried about finding matching gold-color bricks to match the color of the series. With S9, I'll probably use Gray. With S10, perhaps Tan (yellow already used for S1).- 1076 replies

Would you be open to changes in the minifig to make it more poseable?
badbob001 replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Anyone else annoyed that minifigures with the dress piece are a little taller than others? I suppose I can explain that it's due to heels. Not sure if a custom shorter slope piece would be the most practical solution. For the official Lego Wedding favor set, it looks like they try to fix the height issue with a four-piece dress. But now the woman seems disproportionately short. This is probably due to the printing not going all the way. Perhaps it's best we don't change anything or just add 1x1 plates / shoes to all non-dress wearing minifigs. -

And the Year by Year book will include THREE minifigures! I hope they are traditional yellow and not flesh color so they go well with my CMF collection. -

badbob001 replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When I saw the first (?) generation skeleton with shoulder ball-joints, I thought it would be a great idea to add more posing options. And then when I got my hands on one, I was extremely disappointed that it was all floppy. I also thought about change to the minifigure when I saw the KRE-O figures, but it would probably require adding similarly large shoulders, which would definitely be met with resistance. But at least it would be possible to only require creating new arms and leave the rest of the minifigure unchanged, which allows one to 'upgrade' older figures. This page has more details on the KRE-O figures: http://www.infiniteh...orponok-review/ And why no outcry regarding the flux of the poor duplo figure? Granted, I think it is definitely changing for the better. And at least Duplo children can properly sit. And why can't minifigures have short sleeves like Cinderella? Why is every minifigure either in long sleeves or no sleeves? T-shirts are so NATURUAL that it's weird that it doesn't exist in minifigure form. I wonder if they ever attempted a short sleeve with printing. -

Is it me or does Series 9 seems to be priced much higher on places like ebay and bricklink than with previous series? I normally buy a complete set from one vender but due to each box now only having two complete sets instead of three previously, the vendor can't even offer whole sets anymore. Perhaps it's still early in the season and prices will go down later. I wonder if LEGO had intended to keep prices inflated by limiting certain minifigures to only two per box. -

This looks great and similar to what LEGO would produce. Is the person holding the boat face trophy Eric Raymond? And no Synergy? Perhaps next year. :) Are the blue and white Misfits hair official LEGO pieces?
