    75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion

I hope the "much more" includes a painting of vigo (likely another sticker) and chinese food containers (from big bang theory set). And they better have the wooden lockers on the first floor. And while we are waiting to see the interior, here is mockup model used during production of the first movie. I think the guy is John DeCuir, the production designer. I wonder will they keep the interior loft-design, which seems popular in some modular buildings (to keep the piece count down).

A lot of the photos of the actual building shows the circles above the door to be black: It's hard to find clear exterior shots of the building used in the movies, but it may not even feature the circles: I eventually found some photos where the circles are actually white stars over blue, matching the ones in the set. From: http://www.nyc-archi...om/GV/GV056.htm Does anyone have any information on the purpose and history of those circles? While digging, I did discover that the firehouse use to be twice as wide with two engine doors, but was cut in half around 1914 since the adjacent street was being widened (mod idea, wink wink). And has what appears to be a fire escape.
  4. I want to put hats over girl hair, like the hair from Lego Friends. Since the hair piece has a hole on top, there must be a system way to use it to keep hats on. Any ideas before I resort to fun-tack? The closest thing I can think of is to use this to keep the hat from slipping off.

What got you into collecting Lego as an Adult?

It's likely due to the transition from the period when LEGO sets are bought for you and the period when you bought your own LEGO sets. As you grow up, your parents may buy you less 'toys' or buy you other things to encourage the experience of new interests. I wouldn't say interest is lost, but there are so many interests that it's hard for a kid to maintain them all, especially without a job and the ability to buy anything you want. Only after you have a job and things have stabilized, then you can consider buying things for yourself.

From looking at the roof seams, it seems like it opens up like a book (two set of hinges), unlike sergio's, which has the entire side wall open up as one piece. Smaller walls will put less strain on the hinges since the walls won't be touching the ground. The detail I love the most is how the yellow parts next to the front door blend in so well with the walls that it looks like they are just painted yellow.

I remember in an interview with a Lego designer, where it was said that if you're going to have a sticker sheet anyway, you might as well go all in and use as many stickers as you can. This definitely looks like a modular design, where the floors are lifted off. There are no shots of the left side or the back, so maybe there are hidden hinges and seams for opening it from the side. Are those hinges on the left side? If you consider adding this to your modular building collection (as I did with the Haunted House), then you essentially have TWO CORNER buildings in one year. Crazy! If you layout your buildings around in a block, then using this building as a corner will be a challenge. This is because the rear extends 16 more blocks than the usual modular and makes it hard to fit another modular next to it. You'll need to use the rear space for a MOC. Easier is to make this into a middle building and turn the side sidewalks into alleys. I'm already thinking of placing strategic dumpsters and piles of boxes in the alleys to hide the modular-building connector blocks and pins.

This baseplate footprint of this set is 32x48. Modulars are 32x32. So it's bigger. If you're talking about the building footprint, then it's 22 x 43 (946 studs sq). For comparison, the Town Hall is about 25 x 32 (800 studs sq).

I once saw Lego Minecraft cards but they were obviously not licensed from LEGO since it didn't mention LEGO anywhere on it and the quality was not great. I hope the Dimensions cards are more legitimate.

If there are lockers in the new set (or if you add them), then you can hang the old torso and legs there.

How do you display your modular building collection?

I wish such a unit existed. Ikea has the Galant Wall Cabinet that can fit 6 across (but has a divider making it 3+3), has glass doors (though there are handle cutouts that will let dust in), BUT it's not tall enough to fit the taller modulars. Maybe it'll be the batcave AND the gbhq: the gbhq will be like a regular modular building with no basement, BUT you can attach it to the top of the batcave and the top level of the batcave is the GB basement with the containment vault. Mind blown, amiright? What? Wayne manor is above what? You're not making any sense.

    Seasonal 2015

When do you think the two winter sets will be available? Maybe Nov 1st? I hope they are sold at the same time and not split apart by a month so I can order them together or only make one trip to the store.

    LEGO: why the poor packaging?

Definitely the reason is that the boxes are not meant to re-store the bricks. There are some duplo junior / duplo sets that come in plastic containers that are meant for storing bricks. Maybe they expect you to pool your multiple sets together to make even greater creations, and thus you would already have an alternative storage solution? When I was a kid, my mother frowned upon me when I didn't keep the parts for a set together but I still just pooled everything into a massive heap. At the time, I was more concerned with getting cool new parts and getting more bricks for bigger creations. I did own this official lego storage case and still have it: But now as an adult, with less time, less tolerance for rainbow-colored creations, and access to bricklink for parts, I tend to want to keep the set parts together, but usually built and on display. Perhaps when I run out of space, I would breakup some sets but still keep the original parts together. I still have the original boxes, but they have been carefully flattened and stored.

Yeah, it's actually really lame on that aspect. Maybe they should alter it so you actually fight your sister witch, the one that was squashed by the house in the movie. Or make you the sister. On a related note, has anyone tried playing co-op with the same two characters? I'm curious how they differentiate them.

    Seasonal 2015

I think the Thanksgiving set is the best of the lot so far. I think it even has the most bricks, which is no surprise since both sides of the wall are full of details. On the dining side, what is the silver round tile that is attached to a white brick? Some sort of plate or souvenir coin on a little ledge? May look better if the SNOT brick was the same color as the rest of the wall, but it probably doesn't come in that matching color.

    LEGO Dimensions Physical Brick Discussion

Does anyone know if the spare parts are needed for all three builds of each vehicle? And if each build will use up all the parts from either of the other two builds? It would make sense for the all builds to consume all the parts with nothing left over. This way, when the game prompts you to rebuild a vehicle to another version, you just have to use all the pieces from the current version and not worry about where you kept the left-over/spare pieces.

Big Bang Theory with smooth floors

This why people should only support a project where they like the design and not just the idea (coughbacktothefuturecough). At least, supporters should have left suggestions for the creator on how to improve it. I wonder if smooth floors were ever brought up or if this is one of those projects where the creator puts up the design but then ignores it afterwards.

Big Bang Theory with smooth floors

Yes, dust is always a concern, which is why I don't put anything up on display unless it's behind glass/acrylic. I've run out of display space and so this mod is now hidden inside a non-display cabinet. The great thing with LEGO sets is that there is usually something that can be improved upon. Back to the Future Delorean: fixed hood. Ghostbuster ecto1: plan to mod to fit all four busters. Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine: plan to mod to fit all five of the gang. Even before I was able to ordered the Big Bang Theory set, I saw early reviews, immediately took a dislike to the floors and started planning with LDD/Bricklink on how to fix it.

I just got the Portal 2 pack and while it's mostly nice, the gun is bad. The gun is made of really flexible black rubber with some white paint. I'm ok with the paint but I can't stand it being rubber. It is very hard to get the flexible gun handle into the hands of a minifigure. And once it's on, you can't twist the gun's direction in the hand like to have it point toward the other hand. You have to remove the gun, face it the direction you want, and then try to get it back into the hands.
