You would think they would make it harder to clone the NFC information from these toys-to-life items, which are essentially the razor blades in the razors/razorblades business model (or perhaps more appropriately, the games/gameconsole model). Now that the cats out of the bag, bring out the pc-version please. :)

I noticed that there are no bedrooms or beds. I don't watch the show, but does that mean it's a studio apartment or that you just didn't have the room for it?

Regarding the emulated games In the Midway Arcade pack, are you able to have three to four players in certain games such as Guantlet and Rampage, despite the base game being limited to two players?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
badbob001 replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I thought they would be using the bandana from this series: but the new one does look different. I hope it is separate, like the newer Darth Vader helmet. The Rogue does sport a quill, so another neck attachment would give him a rather long neck... but that has been done before in Ninjago. -

That Rogue/Ninja hood would be perfect for a Teen Titan's Raven if it came in purple. A hint of what's to come? -
Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
badbob001 replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes. From a parts perspective, I would prefer they use minifigure heads, which would result in more minifigure-compatible accessories like hair and hats. But LEGO has to be careful to not make it look like it's someone in a costume. So they wouldn't do go the Chima route with a holded head over a regular head. I just had a disturbing thought: someone puts a minifigure head on the Mickey body, has the figure hold the original minifigure head, and then put photos of that on disney websites. Maybe have a MOC showing a bunch of Disney costumed characters having some off-time in the backlot of the theme park.- 4155 replies

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
badbob001 replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
To me, the biggest controversy is with the use of a regular head for Buzz. It is consistent if they want to use a regular head for all human characters, but it goes against how Buzz is presented as a real character at the theme parks. If they have Woody in a future series, then to be consistent, he would use a human head as well, but I'm not sure how good that will look. If Woody uses his previous molded head, then Buzz would then look like a mistake.- 4155 replies

This is a rather simple mod to The Big Bang Theory set, which I just got around to building. I really didn't like all the studs on the original design, especially for something that seems more suited for display than play. Also, the telescope can now sit flush to the floor. I couldn't think of a solution for a smoothed corner for the elevated floor, so I just left it out. The "magic". A mistake in the photo below is that the studs for the table next to the sofa should be lower by one stud. As may notice, I wanted the tiles line up in rows to give the illusion that the floor is made of planks of wood. I ran out of 1x1 dark tan tiles so I cheated with the tiles under the sofa. After the honeymoon period is over, I'm going to try to cram this into the Corner Cafe, including the smooth floors.

Ghostbusters (Reboot) 2016 sets rumors and discussion
badbob001 replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think the collar positions will change during the movie: I think it's ok as long as the name tags and accessories (necklaces) match the correct character. -
It does seem rushed but not because the video is too short since it is one of the longest designer videos he has done. I suppose there is just too much to talk about for this set. I'm okay with him skipping the minifigures because the main characters of this set is the building itself. And some of the AFOL buyers of this set would prefer more focus on the building design than the story elements.

[Software] Brickficiency - Find the cheapest BL stores to buy parts
badbob001 replied to mdoupe's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Such a feature would make bricklink so much easier to use and buyer-friendly. But I suspect some stores may oppose this since this feature may favor larger stores. And how much can we trust this feature since bricklink gets more money when you spend more money. For all we know, bricklink will find you stores to satisfy your want-list, but not necessarily at the lowest possible price. It would be nice to have an independent system to sanity check results. -
It would make sense to show the videos: Closer to the actual release date of the product so it's more fresh in the consumer's mind. After the US' post-thanksgiving period so to not affect those sales.

I think reproducing the art from the stickers would be a copyright issue with LEGO. And if it's a licensed theme, it might involve the license holder as well. For example, Hanna-Barbera may not like people to print and sell parts with the phrase The Mystery Machine. But then again, I don't remember LEGO stickers to have little trademark TM. -

That baby-backpack looks like a big toe, so that is fuel for the MOC builder to collect 10-20 of them to make fingers and toes for a giant. -

Sergio's final design does have 1000 more pieces to add all those extra details. And even his doors could not be opened with the car inside (unless you clear out the entire first floor, just like the official set). There appears to be an awful lot of stickers in this set. I hope that sticker sheet is not free-floating inside the box... In Sergio's design, you have to slide out the bathroom to access the bedroom. His design has a lot of details, but too packed and cramp for playing. Not sure how would do you it without blocking your view to the bedroom or the bathroom. Unless you made the wall removable/sliding. -

I wonder if you can push the desk and railing even further back to allow the doors to open. And with the tall ceilings, I might explore putting the other desk on a loft. -

I have a problem. My first reaction was a desire to go to bricklink and order tiles for the floors. I've resisted so far. -
Lego Minecraft could have been much better.
badbob001 replied to gamejutzu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Other companies already make minecraft figures that are true to the original and LEGO may want their version to be different. Since LEGO minifigures are so appealing, it makes sense to not stray too far from that. And keeping the figures minifigure-compatible is something I expect kids to want since when I was a kid, I cared more about expanding my collection with new bricks than to treat each set as an isolated model. -

I don't understand what you're trying to say with A, B, C, and D. Do the letters represent the four ghostbuster characters? If the new sets are anything like the ninja turtle sets, then most likely I would only be interested in the characters as the buildings and vehicles would be play-oriented and unrealistic. Imagine if LEGO made a GBHQ-quality set for every new theme, similar to the Haunted House for Monster Fighters. The kids can play with the smaller play-feature sets while the adults can have at the detailed mega set. They may have started already: Death Star Temple of Airjitzu A really well done D2C set can get people to buy it even if they don't normally care about a particular theme. The Temple of Airjitzu could be made to be part of a modular town. I'm not into DC/Marvel, but they made a nice Wayne Manor/Bat Cave, I could be tempted. -

I may need to rewatch the movies, but no other scenes from the movies comes out as a obvious possibility for a set idea (think play features!). Hotel (first job): too boring / no play features Library: too boring / no play features Dana's apartment: too boring / no play features Statue of Liberty: too big Museum: too big / not much action Sewers: boring *Maybe* the apartment rooftop scene with Gozer and the terror dogs? A full Staypuff figure seems unlikely, but they could just show his head and a hand. If anything, it'll only be vignettes and not a full structure as is the GBHQ. It could end up like the Simpsons... only major and adult-oriented sets. Perhaps more ideas will come out with the new movie. -
If an item is set to be released on a particular day, at what time would the item actually be available for purchase? I'm in the US Eastern timezone and from past experience, checking at midnight is still too soon. I wonder what timezone does shop.lego.com operate on.

My concern regarding allowing early purchases is that a scalper could buy up all the stock and disappoint buyers that come on the actual release date. It's probably not likely for most Dimensions products since the stock for these seem high. On a similar note, I did find at a lego store the two christmas seasonal sets being sold before november. You can probably guess what I did:

[MOC] Modular high-rise Building: Six floors, full detailed
badbob001 replied to Zusammengebaut's topic in LEGO Town
This looks great. I like the french fries. All the chairs are so close to the ground that it makes me think of furniture in Japan. Have you thought of adding a railing to the mezzanine (the floor with the tan couch and blue rug)? Doesn't look too safe.- 4 replies

Lets put this into perspective. The people that only watched the movies, which was 26 years ago, are probably at least 31 years old now. The people that watched the cartoons, with the last one 18 years ago, are probably at least 23 years old now. So not exactly the demographic that necessarily need to ask for presents anymore. I know it will probably say 16+ on the box, but you know it's mainly the adults who will know what a ghostbuster is. As you may know, some third parties are creating some rather nice custom printed bricks. I wonder if it is legal for them to create replacement printed bricks to replace the current stickered ones. Might be a market for that... <wink><nudge><hint>
