Yeah, it's from this unique contest prize set: Noted. Also..are you...? *decides to PM instead*

-==IC: Arthur==- Arthur silently wonders if his oratory last night fell on closed ears. He really hoped it hadn't. OOC: K-nut, did you get my PM with the message from the parchment Arthur gave Althior?
-
Well, it's kind of a moot point anyway since Arthur's face is the only one like it in the world (besides the LEGO archival copy). I'd definitely like to experiment with the face a little more, see what other sorts of characters I could create with him. Any ideas?

"I'm the seventh in my family to bear our fathers' name. My dad was a planewalker--probably should have figured from that that I'd end up a mage, but anyway...he disappeared a while back on an expedition to find materials to open an new Portal. Granddad vanished, too, but at least we found him eventually. Heart attack down in the abandoned mines. About ten feet from a vein of diamond, too. Real shame. Still, they renamed it the Regulus Mine after him, and since he'd managed to clear it out of baddies along the way, the boys were able to set up wokstations and reopen the place. We've been living off it for the past six years. No, eight--I forgot, it took me two years to make my way here. I imagine it'd be significanly less if a Quest took folks out that way--a wandering loner on foot, with barely enough money to book passage on a tiny, rickety merchant ship after the overland journey...I wasn't exactly the fastest traveler. Anyway, with relatives like that, it's no wonder Mom tried to get me to take up a less risky profession."

"Mr. Seven?"

Ah, ok. Google is giving me junk results...a lot of Naruto for some reason, lol. Aoi is Japanese for "Blue", maybe they look like humans with blue skin? EDIT: That was @ Tanma. Didn't think I'd need to quote, guess I was wrong.
-
Tanma, are you involved in Space Wars? That sounds awfully familiar to me... (We actually tried to do a reboot Space Wars on the forum where BNS started, but...well, let's just say the timing was off and leave it at that, shall we? ) EDIT: I just looked at my own post in the Hall. Good lord, did I actually write all that?! Why can't that happen with my term papers?!?

OOC: I understand, I'm just glad that other people have picked up on one of Arthur's character development hooks. *hint, hint* -==IC: Arthur==- "Understood. I honestly don't know what came over me then. But you know," he says, sliding the book toward Althior once more, "'Tis never a poor idea to seek knowledge of the road ahead. The choices of the past may well hold the keys to the future. This tome holds knowledge of all the parties we are likely to encounter--the Brobric Elves, the Lion Knights, the Hinckwells, and the Shadeaux. It would be madness to go into battle without even a cursory examination of their strengths and motives. And, with all respect to the esteemed Heroes of that Quest, perhaps if we identify their mistakes we can avoid making them a second time." He nods at De'kra, who he knows is listening. "Even in failure, a Hero can still serve as a sign along the way, guiding those who come after them. No mistake is entirely bad, nor is any success completely without its downsides. We cannot be perfect, we can only do the best we can and trust to fate or the gods to take care of the rest, and that those who come after, and those we care about, may lay claim to a better world. "And as for Cinna--well, 'tis always a good idea to seek wisdom from the example of others. She seems to be a good model of behavior for a mage, and Jen'Ber knows I need all the help I can get. I didn't train for years as a mage before I joined Heroica, like the rest of the mages around here. I gleaned perhaps a few months of training--mostly from wandering magical entertainers or exiled magicians down on their luck--while I journeyed here from my homeland. I must admit, I miss the place. 'Twas a simple life, compared to here, though no less quiet--everyone joined together to protect our lands from the vile monsters that rise to menace us every night. But it was simple, and a part of me misses that. And yet... "That day, when my people discovered my powers came not from the enchantments of our land, gifted to us by the gods, but from an unknown power within me--well, even if I hadn't felt the call to adventure in faraway lands, I doubt my life would have remained the same. I know I can't go back to the way things were, and there's a part of me that misses that. Misses them, for I lost my people as surely as I lost my homeland. But in a strange way, that loss keeps them alive forever, no matter what fate may befall either me or them. The memory shall live on. I suspect it is the same with love. We all pass into legend someday, some sooner than later. But the memory of love is immortalized in spirit rather than in worldly memory, and it carries on with us to the next world. "Besides, as mages...is it not up to us when our spirits truly depart from this mortal plane? Yea, moreso than any other mortal, for so as we experience the spirit world in life, so we can shortly grasp the mortal realm in death. We need never say goodbye, we need merely say...so long." Arthur surreptitiously slides a scrap of parchment to Althior. He winks. "A remnant from my former life. Go to her. Reinforce that bond of the spirit. As a passing traveler once put it, two souls in love are 'parting and never parted, never and always touching and touched.' You and Alexis share a bond of rare strength. Enjoy it ere this time of trial." OOC: I'll PM you what's on that paper.

Change in plans, I'll be getting the Jay ZX pack, Rattlecopter, and Kai's Blade Cycle. That should be $51 (give or take some change), so I'll get the bonus Kendo Jay pack. The Fangpyre truch is just too expensive, I'll have to get the Fangpyre staff in something cheaper (especially since I still want the Snake Mech... :hmm:

"Hardly. We've never even met. I simply admire her prowess and her coolness under pressure." Arthur leans in and whispers to Spag, so quietly that only he could possibly hear. "And if I hear that phrase come out of your mouth again, party member or not, you'll be copying Arasmyth's little stunt from earlier. Without wind magic." OOC: Nothing personal, it's a character thing.
-
-==IC: Arthur==- "Cinna the Dark. She's...uh...a highly skilled mage, I learned of her when I read up on Quest 4." I produce the book and hand it to Althior. "She really knows her stuff. There's an illustration included there," Arthur added, pointing it out to Althior. As if anyone could NOT notice her...whoa, hey, snap out of it, man! Arthur gives his head a quick, violent shake but says nothing of it.
-
"Or maybe we'll get lucky and when we get back Cinna will be here...I mean, there will be lots of open quests available."
-
The most fun part is, if the building group, I'm essentially God as well, since no one else has bothered to try and keep things straight. So if I need to tweak backstory for the RPG, I can do it. Yeah, I think I'll do that, but I'll DEFINITELY need building help. I have some LDD files of some sets, heck, I've even built most of the main cast in minifig form, but I don't have NEARLY enough brick to do it. Ruins? I can do. Caves? Sure. Forests? Check. Underwater? Yep. Surface of the Moon? I have the baseplates. City? Ehh...in a pinch. But building in D&D/LotR-era fantasy and sci-fi (my two favorite types of fiction)? ZOMG HELP ME!!
-
-==IC:Arthur==- Arthur chuckles at Spag. "I don't think we're gonna be back for quite some time, maybe months. Certainly not soon enough for any of the other Quests!" OOC: whelp, someone beat me to it.
-
I can only speak to the experience of playing in-person games (sit around someone's living room, draw random cards for roles, narrator has to improvise the narration), but that second part's pretty much true for the entire game.
-
Well, it's generally just roleplaying-oriented, but I may make some changes (especially considering that my players aren't picking up on cues quick enough, hopefully a more structured system will help). [To explain further, I had a mechanic in place involving some minigames for challenges, but it was too cumbersome and fell apart, so I'm improvising to find what I need structurally.] TL;DR, the story is very much detailed, the system...could use some improvement. Want to hear the full explanaion?? Hoo boy, OK, here goes. So yes, any suggestions would be welcome, and I'd love to know if you guys think bringing the RPG to EuroBricks would be a good idea. (And if anyone wants to see the RPG on the original sites, I'll PM the link, I don't want to break site rules on link-posting. )

Scruffy face...too bad you don't have Arthur's face, it's a nice mix between scruffy and friendly. Although, the face you used turned out pretty well...where is it from? Hehe, all three of you are on my evil list of Heroica players/characters to corrupt to the Dark Side convince to join my Star Trek RPG if I ever get it up here. (It'll take a MASSIVE Bricklink order to be able to build the sets, tho, ST uses a LOT of gray and white! ) Somebody's been reading Darths and Droids Dang it! I was going to parody that!

-==IC: Arthur==- To Alf: "Uh, I think I'm good. Besides, I'm out of cash. Althior or Arasmyth might want it, though." Arthur turns to Althior to ask if he could borrow his other weapon since the Healing Staff had the same WP, but decided to wait until he was less...busy. His body language all but gave away his intention, however. Arthur begins writing something on a scrap of parchment. From the way he kept glancing at the mage and the evoker, it's clear he had come up with something that (he thought) would help...
-
"Well, you're the Party Leader, so it seems like a logical choice to me." Arthur hands him the Healing Staff.
-
"Thank you, friend." Arthur gives Alf the gold (bringing the total to the agreed 6 gold) in exchange for the (rental of the) Healing Staff.
-
-==IC: Arthur==- Arthur considers the deal carefully. "Alright, that seems fair. Here is 4 gold, I will ask the other party members if any of them would be willing to chip in, since it will help all of us." Arthur approaches all of the Heroes selected for Quest #17 and asks them if they would pay Alf the remaining 2 gold to rent Alf's healing staff.

I've enjoyed watching this mafia game (though admittedly, I've mainly been focusing on the hosts' BRILLIANT Lego comic work, GREAT job guys!). I hope I can join in the next Mafia School so I can one day rise to the same level as the rest of you!
-
OOC: I think the healing staff will be most important, I imagine the good Doctor will toss us new fellas a bone or two as far as weapons go. -==IC: Arthur==- "Hmm...that seems a bit steep, considering that since you aren't a mage or a cleric you can't access its full potential...would 2 gold per battle be sufficient? But! Only for the battles we actually use it in, and using it after a battle will count as being used in that battle. Sound good? If it's a deal, I'll go ahead and give you the first two payments now."
-
That actually makes the problem worse for me... I haven't experienced the problem yet today, so hopefully... *crosses fingers* EDIT: Happened again. Started at 5:40 PM Pacific Time, ended while I was having dinner. BTW, the site timestamps are messed up. I have to set my display to Alaska time to get Pacific time. DST is not set to be on, so IDK why this would be happening.
-
-==IC: Arthur==- Arthur, hearing Xander's mention of a cleric, has a sudden idea. He runs to find Alf. "Alf, friend, I need a favor of you. My party has no cleric, and we will surely have need to heal. I see that you have a Healing Staff there, would you be willing to let me borrow that for the duration of our Quest? I promise I'll get it right back to you once the Quest is over."
