    MOC: Queer Lodgings

Wow! This looks absolutely amazing! How many pieces is that?! I love your attention to detail.

    Hello Everyone!

Hi guys. I just wanted to take some time to introduce myself. I have always been a huge Star Wars fan and it is, in fact, SW that turned me onto LEGO for the first time about 2 years ago. My first SW Lego set was the Anniversary Edition Tantive IV and I've been hooked ever since. Now I'm into the LEGO games, minifigs, Digital Designer, etc. It's definitely been an exciting ride. I am actually in the process of taking apart that fabled first set I got only to rebuild it again tomorrow. I love that tactile connection... and it's really the only playability I get since my models are pretty much only for display. As for non-LEGO me... I am 24 years old, I live in the US, and I am on the brink of starting Graduate School in Ancient Mediterranean History (As you can tell, I was absolutely psyched when the Egyptian Queen minifig was released. I went to my local Walgreens and fondled all of the bags until I took 3 of them home with me :P) Well... so much for the non-LEGO part, haha. I've been browsing the site for some time now, so I am glad to have finally created an account.

    What are you reading?

I just finished re-reading "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells. It's definitely my favorite book, considering that this was my seventh reading! And at 112 pages, it's a quick read too. Although the only other book I read 7 times is 964 pages :P For some reason, I always seem to stumble into people who are against reading a book more than once, but I consider books to be like movies... you can read them whenever you're in the mood. And "The Time Machine" is amazing.

    Hello Everyone!

Thanks so much! I already have a lot of models built up in LDD... I'm just deciding on which one to build first. I was going to start ordering the parts for a beautiful Greek dias I designed in order to display my Cleopatra mini-fig, but now that I am rebuilding my 10198 Tantive IV, I think a nice redesign of the Blockage Runner might be just as fun. We will see...

    Review: 10212 Imperial Shuttle

Congrats! That's a pity that the Blockade Runner is so over-priced over there... It's a beautiful set. Please let us know if you find any discolored or missing pieces. It appears as though this model seems to have that problem. Although 10198 had issues of its own with Leia's hair (what has been dubbed Fondue Leia). Thankfully, mine came with a good hairpiece. One thing that I will definitely be changing if/when I get this set: Replacing Luke's blond hair with medium brown. It would be MUCH closer to his hair color in ROTJ. I have no clue why they included a light blond hairpiece... it doesn't even look like him.

    Review: 10212 Imperial Shuttle

So I am very much tempted to buy this as my next Star Wars set. I remember seeing the full-sized model in the store when it was first released and thinking about how cool it looked. I don't remember being wowed by the size, but I do remember how sleek and pretty it looked. It would make a great display piece, that's for sure. And since I'm not too crazy about the other recent UCS models, this would be a good buy. Right now, my largest set is 10198 and I absolutely LOVE it! I love the detailing and the nostalgia it brings. Episode IV has always been my favorite, and I would watch the opening Tantive scenes over and over as a kid. The only other Star Wars vehicle that I've always been very excited about was the Imperial Shuttle (my friends and I would play 'Shuttle Tyderian' (yes... that's an intentional misspelling... that's what we thought it was called) in my friend's mom's minivan when we were kids), so I am sure that would bring a lot of nostalgia too. A lot of you seem to be set on the fact that it's a worthy buy, and Amazon currently has it 10% off. Not sure if that's good or not, but it's something... I guess it's also something to think about. I wouldn't be buying it until the beginning of January (once all my Christmas shopping is done!) so I guess we'll see what happens. In the meantime, I'm rebuilding my 10198, so I'm extra psyched about finishing it again this weekend.

    Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets

I feel my figs out all of the time. I don't want a lot of them. I'm not a collector of all minifigs, so I definitely only get the ones I am looking for. I came home with 3 Egyptian Queens from a local Walgreens shortly after they were released. Now one is waiting for her MOC, one has been made into a keychain, and the last is sealed... still deciding on what to do with her.

I always seem to stumble accross some just from doing a lego set search! How are these people tagging their pictures?! LoL.

    Tantive IV 10198 Interior Redesign

Thanks so much, guys. And yeah, Mr. Man... once I did the redesign, I could not imagine why they packed everything in so tightly... Seems silly in retrospect. I always thought the blue rug was also a little silly until I noticed the flooring in Leia's stateroom from "Star Wars: The Complete Cross-Sections." It's similar in color, so maybe that's what they were going for?

    Review: 10212 Imperial Shuttle

Not sure if this is old news yet, but OXY Clean completely restores bricks to their original color. As long as you don't leave them in there too long, blues, greys, and white all have their yellowing chemical changes reversed. I know it's now becoming pretty popular to buy old yellowed bricks for cheaper only to have them restored to brand new condition. This link does a good job of explaining it... So no more worries! :D http://www.brothers-brick.com/2009/08/30/how-to-clean-yellowed-lego-bricks-to-make-classic-space-sets-look-new-news/
