7673 Magna Guard Starfighter Review
Dark Sword Ragnarok replied to Dark Sword Ragnarok's topic in LEGO Star Wars
KimT, that is really strange. My set had the old version. Maybe you got a bunch of defects? Anyway, a tip on the Magnaguard staff,, on the side with the fat area, put the purple cone on the other side of the fat side, so it's on the end. Then, when you want to load it into the back of the fighter, push down the cone on the side without the fat part, and stick it in the holder. This way, the staff looks better and still works the same! Also, the Magnaguard's legs are supposed to go all the way up to the black arm, then the arm flods down to (kind of) hold it in place. My solution? Add a bar or minifig handlebar onto the black arm, and have the Magnaguard hold onto it. Works for me! DSR -
Hey guys, today I have a bit of a twist. This is something I haven't really ever done: a set alternate. I was really bored today, and I kept looking over at the MagnaGuard fighter on my desk. I kind of wanted something to build, something challenging. Then I thought, "hey, it has some good parts in there, I wonder what I could make with just those parts...." Hence, this little guy flew out of my creative building. Usually, when this happens, I start off with a slight idea of what I want, then it just kind of comes out of nowhere, building on top of the original idea and growing out of control. I based it on modern day "runway-free" jet fighters, the kind that use exaust propulsion to take off. The ship is a reconissance fighter, sent out first with a few other fighters to scope the feild before a battle. It can hover in one place for an extremely long time, which makes it perfect for taking out infantry, like an airborn rotatable turret. If you see this thing getting close to your base, prepare for heavy losses! I named it the Droid Harbinger, because "Harbinger" means "a shadow of what is to come". Therefore, the ship represents the impending Droid army that is on it's way. Most likely to kill you. This is what I ended up with: The front of the ship. The light bley cones are the foreward repeating blaster cannons. The side. You can kind of see the wing build here. The back. You'll see the engines next. You can see the booster engines here. The underside. The tan part is a dual machine blaster cannon. You can also see the main foreward guns. The wing build. I'm slightly happy with this, I like the angle, but it is a little unstable because it's connected with two red lightsaber blades from the set. Underside of the engines and back. It opens up for boosting and stays closed when dogfighting. Front profile. Intimidating, aint' it? I had to include some stuff from the original, and I decided to keep some of the front tubing. Side profile. Hope you guys like it! DSR

Thanks, I had an F-16 in mind when I was building it. Yeah, I really enjoyed using only parts from the set. No digging in bins! Thanks! Haha, don't know if I can make instructions, but I'm sure you could replicate it without them! DSR

These are all great, Brainbox! My personal fave is the dancing bat vig. DSR

This is just amazing and awe-inspiring! Many bat-figs will definately enjoy their stay there! DSR

Very nice! Transforming MOC's are extremely hard, I know, I've tried it, didn't work. Good job! DSR
-
Thanks, Lord of Pies! I think it turned out pretty good myself. The name was last minute, but I think it works well too! DSR

I guess, but it still isn't really a liable source of info, being a dream and all, but at least it sounds good. But, 173 peices? That might not be enough for a good 'hog. DSR

Vote for the Lego Star Wars set of the year
Dark Sword Ragnarok replied to Trudop561's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Me. Did you miss my post? I love the clunkadunk, alright? Sue me. DSR -
I never said buy Halo MOC's. And TLC messing up the theme was just IMO, i just thought it would be a possibility that TLC's version wouldn't match up to our standards as FOL's. And having dreams about boxes really isn't a liable source for set possibilities. DSR
-
Well, I guess that's mostly my fault, I apologize if anyone was offended, blame America. Anyway, on a personal level, I think that Halo is best left to us and MOC's. TLC would probably ruin the theme, except for maybe a new windscreen peice for the Warthog. But they could even mess that up. Personally, I think there's enough MOC's of Halo vehicles and creatures that anyone who really wants to could use them as inspiration for their own MOC's. I would build my own Warthog, but I want one in green, and green parts are something I lack, and I would rather build a starfighter or something with my time. Justin, try searching Brickshelf for Halo stuff if you haven't already. Even check out this guy for some nice creations. His work has been shared on here, but it also raised an argument over MOCing ability between a certain member and a certain Admin, and I'll leave it at that. Well, check them out, maybe you can make your own Halo MOC's and post them here using them as inspiration. Happy building! DSR

Well, Spies is a little different than Agents. Spies is more serious, and Agents is more of a cartoony versoin, hence the robot henchman and arms, and wacky villains (such as the Slime guy). Besides, at least your idea was plausible. This is just out of the question. Halo just isn't something TLC would make. It is just too violent, even for a military-theme. I could see where it seems like it could work, because there's no human-human violence, but even then, it's too violent. Who knows, maybe in ten years, Lego will branch out and do a millitary-type theme. But anytime soon? I really don't see something like this in the near future. DSR
-
Uh oh, don't let Bonaparte see you talk like that! Grammar is your friend! Anyway, on topic, this is pretty neat. It has a good general shape for using very limited parts. DSR
-
I know, I'm just leaving it as is so I can learn from it. (note to self: Don't say 'fag' anymore...) DSR
-
I know 'fag' or 'faggot' is a derogatory term for a homosexual, but in the States, the word 'gay' is now almost like a word for 'stupid' or something. EXAMPLE: Dude, I broke my leg last night! Dude, that's pretty gay. See? I probably shouldn't have used "fag" in this instant, but what's done is done. DSR PS: You also spelled my name wrong. Ragnarok. It happens all the time, don't sweat it. Copy/paste my username if you need to!

Actually, only the Droid BP's are $8. The Clone BP's are $15. Okay, so here's my final verdict: ( I decided to get more bang for my buck, i'll get the MTT later) 7 7654 Droids Battle Pack - no minifigs, guns,or box-$20.65 3 7654 Droids Battle Pack - with minifigures-$23.72 3 7656 General Grievous Starfighter - ship and instructions only - $23.85 1 7655 Clone Troopers Battle Pack - $14.95 2 7672 Rogue Shadow - ship, sticker, and instructions only-$35.90 1 7670 Hailfire Droid & Spider Droid - $18.48 TOTAL: $139.09 This sound like a good deal? DSR EDIT: Yes, they are from the same seller, Dovchenco.

Listen, I hate to dissapoint, but this will never, EVER happen. It would be amazing if they did, and I'm a big fan of Halo, but bottom line, this just won't happen. TLC won't pay for yet another license, and everyone whose saying that we need something to replace SW, thant's not till 2011 guys, 4 years away! Enjoy what we have now! Halo is not more violent than SW, that is just completely wrong. SW had blood, like what, once, in the Cantina, when that guy got his arm chopped off? Lightsaber wounds don't even bleed in the movies anymore, for God's sake! it just burns it off. Halo is greusomely violent, you can't disagree with that. Splatters, being slashed by swords, meleeing, rockets, guns, the Spartan Lazer even causes an explosion of blood! Plus, the Flood, basically the zombies of Halo, taking over the deceased and using them as hosts? That just screams gore, guys. And saying that kids see blood when they lose a tooth? How often does a kid not start bawling when they lose their first tooth? "Oh no, in SW, a few people lose a limb in the entire series!" Oh no, in an average Halo online match, 20 people get killed a minute. Blasters aren't even violent! One blast, there's a mark on you, and you die. Guns, you get shot a few hundred times with an AR, there's blood all over and you fall over dead in a pile of blood, only to be run over or repeatedly teabagged by the guy who killed you. Lego has always been aimed at kids, that isn't going to change anytime soon. It started as a childrens building toy. We all are just obsessed with them. That doesn't mean that TLC will aim at adults, just to make a little more money off an extremely violent theme. TLC is a family oriented company. Deal with it. That's just the way it is. To them, Halo is way out of the question, and badgering them about it will only discourage them from even giving the idea any thought at all. Their idea of catering towards adults is Tecnic and the new Architecture theme. I'm fairly positive that's the most they'll do. Sorry if this came off as harsh, but I feel pretty strongly about what I've said, and I'll gladly stand by it. DSR PS: If they make Halo 4 (they'd better), if I can't play as a Grunt, Jackal, or Brute, I won't buy it. Also, what really happened at the end of Halo 3? The freind I played it with always skips cutscenes like a fag, so it left gaps in the storyline for me. I didn't even know Johnson got lazered by the Oracle. Basically, Chief killed off all the Flood, right? And Cheif went back into Cyro, right? Hence, " wake me when you need me". So, are the Brutes still fighting? And the Brutes have Jackals and Grunts, too? Not sure, because I just shot everything in sight when I played Campaign. Also, what side are the Drones on? I never really gave them a thought till now, I just shot at them.

Alright, how about this? 2 Shock Troopers $5.38 7 Droid BP's w/o droids $20.65 1 Hailfire Droid BP $ 18.48 1 Droid MTT $94.95 Total: $139.46+20 approx. shipping: $160 Sound like a good deal, or should I go with: 9 Drid BP's w/o droids $26.55 3 MISB Droid BP's $23.76 3 Gen. Greivous Fighters w/o Gen Greivous $ 23.85 2 MISB CLone BP $14.95 2 Rouge Shadows w/o figs $35.90 Total: 139.96+$20 approx shipping: 160 Which of the two sounds better? The reason I want so many BP's and the MTT is so I can build a Tri Droid. I figure the MTT will give me plenty of brown, and the BP's give me some other elements I want for the legs. Plus, I want a bunch of STAPs! Keep in mind, I don't own any droids and about three clones. DSR

Whose carving out a niche in the AFOL world?
Dark Sword Ragnarok replied to Eilif's topic in Community
Well, he did ask the EB community to share anything special they're doing, although, I would like to nominate Will Chapman, the creator of Brickarms. I don't currently own any Brickarms products, but I plan on getting some once the new knive and sword parts come out. However, I am currently dipping into the comics niche. So far, I've done three, the links are in my sig. I plan on doing more, too. I would appreciate it if anyone would read them, the seccond and third ones are much better than the first. So, if you don't think the first is good, please take the time to read the other two. I know, shameless advertising and all, but still, take a look if you have some time to spare! Every view is appreciated. DSR -
Eurobricks Clone Wars Building Contest
Dark Sword Ragnarok replied to Clonecommando007's topic in Watto's Junkyard
So CloneMe entered 2 times? Why would people bother cheating? It totally ruins the fun of a contest like this. I mean, why cheat when you know there's no chance of winning? Like, most of the ones that have been disqualified were IMO pretty crappy, actuallly, especially compared to everyone else's. It looks pretty dang suspicious. Besides, cheaters are taking away the prizes other members have rightfully earned! That's basically stealing. This really disgusts me, actually. I don't think there's any shame in voting for yourself, but cheating to get more votes? Blegh. DSR -

Great review! Really shows off the main aspects of the set. Wish I had picked up a TIE when they were around... DSR
