[MOC] GALACTUS vs FF, Brickjournal edition.
Werlu Ulcur replied to BaronSat's topic in LEGO Licensed
Beautiful! Please post more! It's not always we get to see big bad Ol' Galactus in brick form. And pretty cool idea for Sue's arm . -
Where is the love for exo-suit?
Werlu Ulcur replied to TakeaBrick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I absolutely LOVE it - though I'm a confessed sucker for mechs. But if I had to make one complaint I would say that the only problem is that it's not very swooshable, it's more like a display type of set. -

Moc builders vs Collectors, Lego civil war!
Werlu Ulcur replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do keep ALL instruction booklets, even though they're a PITA to store because of the different sizes and formats. -
Darn, the new shuttle looks VERY good!

If it's Captain Phasma it will be expensive to use as army builder, unless they also release a "generic" chrome trooper.

Perfect? No. Could have been better? Yep. But (very!) good enough for the price. And BTW, it's 1:16. -

+1 It looks terrific as a display as it is. No need to mess with a winning design.

Advanced Models 10248 Ferrari F40: Discussion Topic
Werlu Ulcur replied to XAxles's topic in LEGO Licensed
Funny, but that windshield is what will probably make me buy this set. If it didn't have a windshield I don't think I would - I absolutely h-a-t-e when a car comes without a windshield (unless it's a Technic model). And about the scale, is that really 1:17? Like instruction books, Lego also can't make cars in an uniform scale? -
Moc builders vs Collectors, Lego civil war!
Werlu Ulcur replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've kept only one box so far, the one from the Ghostbusters set. All other sets are promptly opened (without absolutely no concerns for the box) and gets built basically as soon as it arrives in my hands. I collect/build Lego. I don't give a rat's @ss about boxes or packages. -

Fantastic! I can't say what I liked more, the Sentinels (probably) the minifigs or the Blackbird! Nice to see a well scaled Sentinel to minifig - Lego's version is close to ridiculous.

I crave for a D700... May be heavy and cumbersome, but just does it. drakmin, beautiful! I saw your siege tank shot elsewhere and wondered how much of it was PS. It came out absolutely fantastic! -

If you want to make a "documentary shot" there's not much to discuss - you have to get the whole object in sharp focus and illuminate it in an uniform way, so that the viewer can have the best clear view of the object as possible. Not getting into the merit of it, but to me that causes the shot to become a bit artificial. Of course these shots have a purpose and you can achieve some (really) beautiful results, but I would rather have a more "natural" feel to the shot - and that doesn't mean you can only use natural light, far from it. By no means I'm anything close to some artsy purist but I do prefer less-composed shots that you can make by basically using only the camera and a flash. My wife says I'm probably the only adult in the world who can't photograph anything without getting his clothes dirty. -
Technic 2015 Discussion and Speculation
Werlu Ulcur replied to ghostmind's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
THE FORMULA FOR SUCCESS IF YOU'RE MARRIED: My wife: "Is that a new set?" Me: "Wich one, this one?" pointing to a brand new 2015 release that came out in stores just a week ago. My wife: "Yeah, I don't recall seeing that before...?" Me; "Nah, this came out last year. And come on, I even showed it to you when it arrived, but you don't remember? And then you complain about me not showing you new stuff... Why should I, you don't pay attention." sounding hurt. Works like a charm, but you necessarily have to have a lot of sets. -

Come to think of it, hating JarJar does imply a certain advanced mental age... Lighting is everything. I always say that to make a good shot you have to have 70% of GOOD lighting, 10% of good equipment and 20% of luck. Get the light right and as long as the object is in focus the rest are details. And of course, a good eye for framing goes a long way for that 20% of luck criteria. -

Here's a list of the red parts you will have to trade for black or gray to have a more uniform undercarriage (the second number is how many of that part you have to order):- 250 replies
