Santa Fe F7 Warbonnet and the SF F7 Fleet (MOC)

The holy grail....!!! When will the instructions come out...?
  2. DONT DO THAT !! Those rails are far more expensive and rare that the normal ones. Why dont you just buy some on Bricklink.com ??
  3. Amazing...! Have you ever thought about making instructins for those locomotives?

    Long Carriages on Standard Rails

Sorry, I dont have the parts for the moment. I have had the issue you are talking about with train base (BL 2972) and the old 12V wheels (BL 4180c01). The Problem is, that when going around standard corners, the bogeys turn to such a degree that the inner wheels' flanges will tuch/hit/scrape the buttom vertical wall of the train base. That introduces a braking action(almost blocking) to the wheels. The result is power problems when cornering and decoupling.
  6. Indexed by Moderator - Merry Christmas! Merry christmas to you all. I needed a christmas train for our christmas tree. So I dismantled my 7740 and came up with this little MOC. Cheers

Is It Worth Buying an Emerald Night Now?

I would not recommend the Emerald Night (EN). For a first time train buyer I think you will be dissapointed. IMO the EN looks unfinnished with only 1-2 passenger cars. Out of the box you have 2/3 engine with tender and then only 1/3 stockcars..... You would need to spend a lot of money to get more passenger cars. Remember the colours of that beautiful engine...... Then there is that dredfull grey PF XL motor that will fill out the entire cap. IMO that does NOT look nice. And you will have that grey batt.box sticking out of the tender. EN is a beautifull lego train model. No question about it! But for now I have yet to see a powered MOC of it that is both functional and true to its look. I would have it only as a "cold" train on a layout. I would recommend a 9V steam train (ex. 10205) if you want that look. For a newer look go for 7938 or 7939 or an RC train. Best of luck!

    Santa Fe Stickers

Hi all. I am working on the EMD F7B model (James Mathis) and I was wondering if any of you guys in here know where to find the "indian" sticker on the side of it?

Hi again. Just wanted to know if there was anything new with the sticker printing.....?

    REVIEW: 3677 Red Cargo Train

I think you are right. Also the batterybox once again kills the finish of the model. As seen on the locomotive, it is impossible to hide it on a 4 stud wide model. Get those PF out of the trains LEGO!

    Pantographs: From Old to New

Original...!? No, the true 7740 super fan will quickly notice the 9V bogeys and motor, and the front lights are clear white and not yellow. What have you done... -

Dont you dare fiddle with the 7740 design! ;-) :-)

    Quest for Inter-City Train

I understand your need for 7740 completely... But why dont you buy a complete set on Bricklink? Building a complete set from spareparts can sometimes end up being just as expensive as a complete set will cost you.

    Powering Emerald Night

Ahh, thank you for fixing my post! The word "messed up" was actually the word I was searching for, and it does better describe my state of mind on the issue.

    Powering Emerald Night

Couldn't agree more! LEGO: "We dont sell that many trains...... bla bla" "trains aren't that popular...bla bla" I would say: No really! (pardon my french) You messed up the train line, when you squished the way too clumsy power functions (that were actually intended for technic sets) in the trains..!! I've said it before and I will say it again. PF are BAD FOR KIDS (and adults) to control. They are some times impossible to integrate into models (like the BNSF). They lack the accesories we had with the 12V serie. They lack the simplicity and beauty of the 9V serie.... As to the EN...: it will look soo nice when you stick that HUGE "BEAUTIFUL" grey coloured XL motor into the cap of that dark green nostalgic engine..... Or...

    2013 Train Sets

I too want to make a list to Santa.... I would like the PF components to get as far as possible away from the trains! I would like 9V reintroduced along with the 12V accessories (ofcourse converted to 9V).

    Issues with 9v Motors

Well... I have seen short circuits where the train WAS runnnig, then slowing down like there was a loose connection, then suddently running again.... A short circuit can behave very odd... Its not allways like "working or NOT working", and many people dont understand why and how this short circuit thing is working.... Which is naturally as we aren't madatory educated as electricians in scool!

    Issues with 9v Motors

Hmm. It sounds like and could be a short circuit... How is your track layout? Try to make a simple little round track layout without any crosses or points and then see how it behaves.

    Santa Fe Stickers

Ohh, the B-unit on the picture isn't mine...! That is a photo borrowed from James Mathis' Brickshelf... So that you could see what sticker I was talking about...... I have seen severel photos of the real thing, and most of them actually have that painting/sticker
