Another unpolished layout for the night. This one isn't too bad IMO. I'm still trying to get a cargo port theme happening as well as somehow integrating the Tower Bridge. This layout doesn't use any of my 32 pieces of flex track!!

I like this one, simple and effective. Dont think I have enough space for it though.....

I think I'm going to give up on using the TB as an actual bridge for my layout. At this point, it's just too big. I think I'll use it as two government type buildings, or even combine the two to make tall clock tower. I'm not really into MOC-ing much.

Any Canadians, particularly Ontario, folk looking for some vintage Pirate sets? I have some for trade: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=62111 I'm looking for a Cafe Corner or Green Grocer

WTT my vintage Pirates for your Green Grocer
eliminator posted a topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I have some older pirate sets that I'd like to possibly trade for a Green Grocer: 1004 Black Seas Barracuda (only built once) 6265 Sabre Island 6274 Caribbean Clipper 6260 Shipwreck Island 6259 Broadside's Brig 1795 Imperial Cannon All sets in very good condition with instruction books. No parts missing or substitutes, I have the boxes for the two ships, but I wont have access to them for a few months. I could always send them separately later. -
Ordered from Amazon.fr today. My order ended being almost 50% what I'd pay MSRP here in Canada. I was going to get the Pet Shop, but couldn't resist this deal: and 3 of these:

Just ordered 3939 Cargo Train from Amazon.fr. This is the third train I've picked up since I got into this craze about a month ago.....
-
What's the story on the 7939 cargo train? Has it been replaced by the new red cargo train? Seems odd that they wold have both the passenger and cargo sets next year only in red. I wasn't planning on buying 7939 yet, but if its going to be discontinued soon I'll want to pick it up. Plus, Amazon France has a decent price on it at the moment. I just have the Emerald (not motorized) and the current passenger train. 7939 would set me up with more track including 2 switches, and power functions, which I was thinking of buying anyways.

Surprisingly, shipping is only about $15

thanx for the great review, I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on this set

I ordered 10197 Fire Brigade. I was getting paranoid about the rumors of it selling out soon.

Lego Fire Brigade 10197 SOLD OUT ?
eliminator replied to Locutis's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Agreed, I think it will be around for abit longer, but I feel alot better about buying it now while still at MSRP. I missed out on the Green Grocer because i waited too long and will never pay the big bucks people are asking. I'm really hopeful of a GG re-release someday in the future. -
Lego Fire Brigade 10197 SOLD OUT ?
eliminator replied to Locutis's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
screw it, I just ordered it off Amazon. I was getting paranoid with it listed as out of stock online at Walmart, TRU, and Target. I was probably going to buy the city fire station soon anyways.... -
Lego Fire Brigade 10197 SOLD OUT ?
eliminator replied to Locutis's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Any more info on this set potentially selling out soon? I'm still waiting for my Grand Emporium to arrive and already thinking of my next modular building. Although the Fire Brigade is my least favourite of the modulars, I may as well pick it up for $150 while I still have a chance. Every city needs a fire station, and this one is a better deal (parts wise) than the current City fire station. -
Any Canadians out there order from the amazon.fr site? I'm looking at the 7939 Cargo Train since it's a good price, but I'm curious as to what kind of customs/duties that I will be charged. Récapitulatif de commande Articles : EUR 91,51 Livraison : EUR 10,59 Montant total : EUR 102,10 I think they ship via DHL? DHL Customs Brokerage Service For Canada DHL Canada has implemented a disbursement charge for all air shipments requiring customs brokerage service. The fee applies when funds for duties and taxes are not provided in advance for DHL. The disbursement fee will be 2.5% of the value of the labels provided (excluding the shipping charge), or a minimum charge of $7.00 CAD. The disbursement fee covers part of DHL's administrative and financing costs relating to the amounts they pay customs on your behalf. This fee does not include the applicable GST or province tax.

Great work on the pizza shop. I might do something similar in the future.

Finally got some of my newer sets together and set up on a dedicated table. I realize there's not much to look at, but I have to start somewhere. As you can see, I still have a few unopened sets to build as well as many more waiting for cleaning and rebuilding from my childhood. Sorry for the terrible quality of the photo, but I'm sure you get the idea... Next on my list: -Baseplates, baseplates, baseplates (where can I get cheap ones?) -Current Fire or police station -One of the classic airports -Medieval Market Village -Another table -More track, switches -more harbor plates (already on order) "Notable" sets I also have in my collection waiting for cleaning and re-assembly:

I just have 7938 Passenger Train and 10194 Emerald Night. Some folks here have an impressive number of trains, even multiples of the same sets. The Maersk Train is next for me, but not for a while.

Which theme/subtheme did you miss and regret?
eliminator replied to BeKindRewind's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I missed out on the original Pirates series, but I've been lucky enough to pick up some of my favourites (Black Seas Barracuda and Caribbean Clipper) in the last few years. The thing I really missed out on were the 9V trains, which is bizarre since I was heavily into both Lego and HO scale model trains, but never combined the two hobbies. Living in a small town limited my Lego selection to the sub-$100 sets. -
Veery nice layout. The double sided town-hall looks great. I might try to bricklink it. I wish I had of picked up the Town Plan when it was out.

Do you think TLG will eventually release a CC and MS with interiors?
eliminator replied to Juppy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'd really like them to re-release the Green Grocer. I came so close to buying it on a few occasions, but never did. Today I bought my first modular of the series, the Grand Emporium. I always found MS to be kinda "meh" in the series, and CC isn't my favourite. I hope they keep the series going for years to come. Of the modulars, I'd probably rate them: 1) Green Grocer 2) Grand Emporium 3) Cafe Corner 4) Pet Shop 5) Fire Brigade 6) Market Street. I'd never pay over MSRP for one of these sets. My next one will probably be the Pet Shop. -
Just picked up a Grand Emporium, but waiting until Christmas morning to build it as per the new tradition I started last year with the Tower Bridge....
