absolutely, right after the sale many of the big sets will be magically back in stock....
-
red cargo train was BOGO, you could have snagged two of them for about $182, but TRU ended that fun this morning when they amended the BOGO
-
TRU USA has BYGO 50% off at the moment. Most of the good stuff is sold out (Maesrk Train, MMV, Modulars, Flagship, etc), but still some decent stuff available. Passenger train and red and yellow cargo trains still available. as well, promo code: TONSOFFUN gets $15 off $100

I tried to BrickLink the GG, and I was over $200 in my cart and only about halfway through the pieces. Personally, I'd pay $300 for a new GG, but obviously the prices are well above that. As for CC, prices are just crazy. I might pick a few Fire Brigades up for future sale/trade if they have BOGO 50% this holiday season. You're sure to make a couple of bucks. I doubt Lego will be doing a re-release of the discontinued sets anytime soon. Maybe for the 10 anniversary or something....
-
yea, the BOGO 50% sale they had over the weekend decimated their stock. But the Emerald Night, Pet Shop, MMV and a few others have been re-stocked already. I'd keep an eye on the site and see if the Maersk train re-stocks as well.

For me, my Lego buying finished around 1995. Fast forward to 2004, while in university, I picked up the re-release of the Black Seas Barracuda (always wanted it) which lead me to find a Caribbean Clipper off ebay. From 2004 till last year I picked up the odd Creator set, but what really got me out of my dark ages was the Tower Bridge. I received it as a gift from my significant other! Since then I've been going full tilt...
-
I cant see this set hanging around for years. Besides the train folks, who really buys this set? At least the Emerald Night is a "cool green steam engine", whereas the Maersk train is basically a model. And it's not exactly the cheapest Lego set out there...
-
if anyone in the US is serious about getting this train, TRU is doing BOGO 50% off, plus use promo code "HOLIDAY2011" for an additional $15 off. Free shipping too.... I ordered 2

yea, I'm pretty happy with the deal! I think I might just keep one MISB for the future.....or pillage it for the containers and cars and sell the loco
-
Well, I couldn't resist. USA ToysRUS is having a great pre-Balck Friday sale. I got 2x Maersk trains with free shipping for the grand total of $180. (BYGO 50% + $15 holiday promo). In Canada, these cost $155 each plus tax.....

Great review, but I doubt we'd see something like this in 2012... What about 7939?

Barman's Lego Power Functions-Controlled Train Switch
eliminator replied to DLuders's topic in LEGO Train Tech
wow, some great work there. A PF switch would be great, especially when running two trains at once. -
Great start to your city. Get some tables and get it off the floor.

So, I've been going nuts buying train sets lately and need some help designing my layout. I know there must be some people out there that mess around with BlueBrick alot and have way more talent designing a layout then me. So, here's a quick rundown of what I have available for my layout if you'd like to offer me some ideas or suggestions. Layout WIP: I've finally started a real layout!
eliminator replied to kyphur's topic in LEGO Train Tech
yea, me too. After some research I found that it was only available in grey in one set, 7900 Heavy Loader. I managed to find a seller with four of them on Bricklink for about $4 each. There's also few sets that use an orange version that usually sell for bout $2 each. -

well, you've inspired me with your bridge, I just ordered 4x grey trapezoid bridge pieces (55767). -
Same here, I'm out of my dark ages with vengeance. Besides picking up the latest modular buildings and a mix of city sets, I started dabbing into trains a few weeks ago.....I already have the new Passenger Train, Train Station, Emerald Night, and waiting for the mailman to deliver my yellow Cargo Train, power functions lights, and Level Crossing.... I'm tempted by the new Maersk train and red Cargo Train with the current Toys-R-Us BOGO 50%, but the wife would probably leave me...

abit late, but on thursday night I order MMV and two sets of PF lights (for my trains). Amazon had a "use your mastercard, save an additional $10", so really got the MMV for $79. Its a Christmas gift for my wife. Although not really into Lego, she had a lot of the Lego Castle sets growing up and loved the MMV we saw on display at the Lego store last week.
-
That's a great deal, especially for someone who's just getting into trains. Although I find this set abit more junior-ized compared to the 7939 cargo train. Agreed, and i kinda find it odd that Lego would have a red cargo and red passenger train available in 2012, along with the Maersk train, since the yellow cargo train and Emerald Night are apparently discontinued. I have 7939 on order from Amazon.fr, I like fact it has track switches, more realistic rolling stock, and a cargo crane.

Walmart, I think it's only $30 in the US

thumbs up on the bridge, simple is good -
Great looking town Bachus. I didn't realize how big the Eiffel Tower was compared to the Tower Bridge.
-
I know the scale is off on the Tower Bridge, but does anyone have one in their city layout? I think it should work pretty good as a pedestrian bridge..... I'm looking for layout ideas, especially with the modulars.

1600 pieces for $40CDN....start the car!

Great photos and lots of action going on in your town. I'm recently out of my lego dark ages and picked up the Emerald Night, Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade, and Tower Bridge. I would have bought the Pet Shop this week, but instead ordered baseplates and the yellow cargo train since I wanted to expand my layout. I have a thread going on in the Train forum looking for setup ideas. I too am looking for the elusive Green Grocer. I'm kicking myself for not picking it up last year ON SALE. There's a local buy with a sealed one for $400, but wont budge....
