  1. Sarick hissed at the enemy and said, "That archer looks like he has a weak arm. His shots can't possibly penetrate through Cronk's shield. Leave him be for now." With that, Sarick attacked Emeraldo Mage from the back row with frost magic. Battle Order: ------------- Cronk Xander De'kra >Sarick vs. Emeraldo Mage Galen Nerwen
  2. Sarick listened to Skrall's description and then said, "A cloud of dust rising from the location of the carriagesss. My first instinct was to assume they were under attack. I hope your assumption, Cronk, about the carriagesss leaving is the correct one. If our options are to defend or pursue Russel then my decision is the same as before. I believe we should pursue Russel and if I heard you correctly Cronk, that is your vote as well. Correct me if misunderstood. What doesss the rest of the team think?" Sarick: Pursue Russel Cronk: Pursue Russel Nerwen: ? Xander: ? De'kra: ? Galen: ?

I understand Capt.JohnPaul's point. We were in quite a confusing situation, two groups of heroes about to attack each other, and the side development of character story, although intriguing, was making it difficult for us to move ahead in the quest. I do not believe Capt.JohnPaul meant any offense. I am not sure I have seen any "hostile" players yet in Heroica.
  4. "I agree with Galen," said Sarick. "We have spent too much time here. Our mission was to retrieve these weaponsss and return, so that is what we will do. If we find Russel along the way then we will confront and question him. If he turnsss out to be a traitor then we will end his life. But our focus is returning with the weapons. Let us head out."
  5. "Hrm...I was beginning to like Russel. Someone who leads me to dragon hating cultistsss tends to get on my good side. If we cannot find him now then we should speak to the commander. But our mission, directly from the emperor, was to gather these weapons. We will bring them with us to talk to the commander. But we'll also shut the back door we came in from.
  6. Sarick agreed with the plan and released the charged magic...for now. "Russel, I doubt these heros are the intrudersss. What were you doing upstairs while we were gathering the weapons?" Sarick awaited Russel's response.
  7. Sarick slithered backward quickly in surprise. "Cronk, you seem to be good with wordsss, anyway you can diffuse the situation?" Sarick then attacked Count Lewis Knyghton from the back row with frost magic. "I will cool down your hot temper." Battle Order: Cronk Xander De'kra >Sarick vs. Count Lewis Knyghton Galen Nerwen
  8. "We are ready," said Sarick. "Let us get back with the supplies."
  9. Sarick pocketed the 19 gold that was to go to Galen, he then handed: 1 fire bomb to Nerwen, 1 fire bomb to Xander, 1 lightning bomb to De'kra, and 1 lightning bomb to Cronk. "We have the weaponsss and the Lion Knights do not know of our presence. Our next task is to return with the weapons. I'd like to help defend the fort but that isss not our task. What does the rest of the team think?"

Heroica RPG - Quest Masters' Lounge

This Class was inspired by Jebediahs' and Brickdoctor's engineers. BRIEF CLASS DESCRIPTION: The Engineer is a pet class that relies heavily on his or her construct in combat. The construct is a pet that is always active and doesn’t need to be summoned. The construct degrades over time so the engineer spends the majority of his time maintaining it during combat. The construct can be customized to deal more damage, soak up more damage, provide support for the party or be balanced. Can tie it to Ji Pei faction since they like technology or have it non faction related. Engineer * Additional Health: +X * Additional Ether: +X * Job Trait(s): Mechanical Expertise - Allows the Engineer to repair or alter various machinery encountered. The engineer inflicts double damage to mechanical enemies. * Battle Style: Construction - Engineers build constructs to aid their party. 1. SHIELD: Idea 1: EUREKA! - The engineer is inspired by an idea, temporarily increasing his or her intellect (level) by 1 for the rest of the battle. No health or ether is gained and his or her level returns to normal at the end of the battle. Additionally, the engineer is able to switch gems used to power his or her construct. Idea 2: Makeshift Turret - The engineer hastily builds a turret that hits all enemies with strength equal to the engineer’s weapon power added to their level before it falls apart. Additionally, the engineer is able to switch gems used to power his or her construct. 2. UPGRADE/FULL REPAIR: Grants the Encouraged effect to the construct for the next round. Optionally, the engineer can spend 1 ether to heal his or her construct with strength equal to two times their weapon power added to their level. 3. HIT/MODERATE REPAIR: The engineer attacks the target with strength equal to their weapon power added to their level. Optionally, the engineer can spend 1 ether to heal his or her construct with strength equal to their weapon power added to their level. 4. FLASHBANG/LESSER REPAIR: The engineer throws a bomb that blinds all targets for the next round. Optionally, the engineer can spend 1 ether to heal his or her construct with strength equal to their weapon power. 5. DAMAGE/NO REPAIR: The engineer is struck by its opponent’s damage. Optionally, any attempt at repairing fails. 6. SPECIAL DAMAGE: The engineer is struck by its opponent’s special skill.Optionally, any attempt at repairing fails. QM Note: Engineers rely heavily on their constructs in battle. As a result they are restricted to using throwing weapons such as wrenches, gears, shurikens, etc. CONSTRUCT * Base Health: X * Base Ether: X * Job Trait(s): Mobile - Able to attack in the front row or back row for full damage. 1. SHIELD: Devolution Beam - The construct blasts all enemies with a random element from the gems used to power it with strength equal to the engineer’s weapon power added to the engineer’s level and lowers the level of each target by 1 for the rest of the battle. Does not deplete ether. 2. CRITICAL HIT/RANGED CRITICAL HIT: The construct attacks the target with strength equal to two times the engineer’s weapon power added to the engineer’s level. Optionally, the construct can spend 1 ether to produce an elemental based ranged attack from one of the gems used to power it with strength equal to two times the engineer’s weapon power added to the engineer’s level. 3. HIT/RANGED HIT: The construct attacks the target with strength equal to the engineer’s weapon power added to the engineer’s level. Optionally, the construct can spend 1 ether to produce an elemental based ranged attack from one of the gems used to power it with strength equal to the engineer’s weapon power added to the engineer’s level. 4. OVERDRIVE: The construct exceeds its parameters and begins to overheat. The construct is granted the haste effect for the next round but due to the heat, is unable to produce a ranged attack the next round until it cools down by the following round. 5. REDIRECTED DAMAGE: The construct is struck by its opponent but also produces a blast of energy for half the damage received back at the target. Does not deplete ether. 6. SPECIAL DAMAGE: The construct is struck by the opponent’s special skill. QM Notes: The construct receives double damage from lightning based attacks The construct is affected by Rust and loses 5 health at the end of each round The construct is only able to be healed by its engineer. The construct is unaffected by Phoenix Essences. If KO’d its engineer must simply receive a REPAIR /roll or return it to full health while out of combat for 1 ether. If its engineer is KO’d, the construct will continue to fight on until KO’d or the battle is won. The construct requires three gems in order to power it. Each gem equipped by the construct has a beneficial ability that is active until the gem is removed. Gem Passive Abilities: Amethyst: Grants +10 additional damage to each attack by the construct Aquamarine: Heals party for 3 health at the end of each round of combat Diamond: Generates 5 gold per round of battle for the engineer Emerald: Provides poison immunity for the party Garnet: Provides party 5 SP Opal: While first in battle order, grants the construct 10 SP Ruby: Grants +20 health to the construct. Sapphire: Restores 2 ether at the end of each round of combat for itself and engineer ONLY Topaz: Enables counterstriking. Upon receiving a free hit, construct immediately attacks target for damage with strength equal to the engineer’s weapon power added to his or her level.
  11. Sarick grabed the coins from the chests and slithered to the back of the group when the man came down the stairs. While the others spoke he counted out coins and handed them to the party members behind their backs. Sarick handed: 19 coins to Xander, 19 coins to Cronk, 19 coins to Galen, 19 coins to De'kra, 19 coins to his (Sarick's) pocket, and 25 coins to Nerwen "Extra," Sarick whispered, "for suggesting to freeze the locksss."
  12. Sarick attempts to freeze the locks on the chests at the cost of 1 ether.
  13. Sarick placed the golden dagger inside of his new headress to conceal it. He then grabbed as many weapons as he could reasonably carry. "When everyone is ready, we should check on Russel upstairs."
  14. In preparation for any surprise battles, Sarick drank his nostrum. Sarick felt a strange tingling sensation but that was all. He hoped this liquid would have a positive effect.
  15. Sarick grabs the golden dagger in the barrel. He then searches for any potions, tonics or pheonix essences in the chests. Once Sarick packed away his items he said "I have all I need. Be on the look out for anyone acting suspicious or out of place. I am ready to move on when everyone else is."
  16. "I'd like to verify that I heard your instructionsss correctly: 1. Sneak into the fort without alerting the Lion Knights. 2. Kill any Lion Knights that get in our way. 3. Return with the weaponry from the fort. 4. If we find the traitor, end hisss life. Is that everything we need to know?" said Sarick. "Are there any secret passages or sewer lines that can be used to infiltrate the fort?"
  17. Sarick was ready to move on to the fort as well.
  18. Sarick tasted the air and watched the workers load the supplies intently. He wanted to keep track of the the location of the medical supplies if the caravan was hit before its destination. Keeping his eyes on the supplies he said "I am ready to head out when the group is."
  19. "Letsss head to the market then," said Sarick.
  20. Sarick handed over the envelope to the first man who spoke. "Why is your friend having such a rough week?"
  21. Sarick surveyed the scene and then turned to Russel, "Are these the guardsss that are protecting the medical supplies? Do you recognize them or at least their uniform? I'd rather not hand over the envelope if you are not sure of their identity." Sarick slithered forward and added to Nerwen's words. "Which one of you is in charge here?"
  22. Sarick slithered up to the members of the his party. "It seemsss our team has gathered all the information we can. If no one wants to return to Vendor's Square then I suggest we move on to the docksss."
  23. Sarick listened to the man's translation and his cold blood boiled. He was furious that the cult was not only kidnapping and sacrificing innocent people, but they were also recruiting scoundrels and scallywags! Sarick's fangs began to show but he quickly retracted them. There was no one here to release his anger upon. He would have to wait...patiently...and then he would strike as quickly as the viper...
  24. Sarick eyed the chicken leg the Orc was holding. It looked rather tasty and he was hungry. He decided he'd eat some more rations on their way to the dock. Seeing that the members of the party were conversing with the patrons, Sarick decided to find a corner to wait in and observe the scene.

    Heroica RPG General Discussion

Beholder’s Eye (SP+1) (Artifact) - Allows player to see results of next round of combat. Gives players chance to choose another action or continue with currently selected one. QM decides if they want to PM the results to the user or display them in the quest to the entire team. Useable once per quest. The Beholder's Eye has the ability to "see the future". The 1 SP means it defends against one damage. The wearer can sense somewhat of the incoming attack and position their body to take less damage, 1 less damage. The intended function of the item: Player declares their action during a battle, they also declare if they want to use the ability of the Beholder's Eye. The QM would then post (in PM or in the thread, QM's choice) the results of the next round. The player can then choose a different action if need be. Lets say you have 3 hp and the mob you are fighting has 17 hp. In most cases you would take a potion or heal to make sure you stay alive. With the Beholder's Eye, you can attack instead. If it turns out your attack would have hit then you stay with your action and attack. If it turns out that you would have been hit and KO'd then the player will change their action. You take a risk with using your ability, sometimes you will see that your outcome was good and you wasted your items ability. Other times it will turn out beneficial. It can only be used once per quest so that is not overpowered. The reason it is an artifact, not everyone has an artifact. So a player can keep it as long as they want it. If the player doesn't like the item then they are free to trade it or sell it to another player, they don't have to keep it. Glad you liked the quest and in my next run I will run more complicated items by for clarification. Also, the next quest will have more mundane and normal items hehe.
