    2011 Kingdoms + US prices

So the nice Fairy tale & Historical pack is an education set is seems. I think we never see those kind of sets (Dacta) in stores, right? Anyway, here is the box art from bluemoose over at Flickr. I hope he'll provide us with some more information.

    Harry Potter 2011 Discussion

This is awesome! Just when I thought it's done and the theme finishes with a great set: news of new sets arrive. I've been thinking about it for a couple of days and the first thing I'd like to say: I don't think we should base ourselves on the size of the boxes on the image. Other than that, I can only support what others have said. The Forbidden Forest: a little set with some trees including a few figures of the following: Harry, Draco, Firenze, Voldemort, a unicorn and hopefully the film version of Fang (I just love him ). Although I already own the first Knight Bus, I'm looking forward to this one. LEGO's vehicles have really made great progress in the last couple of years so I hope it'll be a very different bus in lovely purple. The Battle for Hogwarts set is also pretty vague. It can be tons of things. I hope it'll be a part of Hogwarts with a couple of brand new characters in LEGO! Thanks for the news, I'm looking forward to the first pictures.

WINTER BREAK: The Ministry of Magic

Nice job! It definitely resembles the Ministry of Magic in the films, which I like very much. The tiling matches the floor very well. It's always so busy there, so the crowd also matches. I like the detail of the flying notes. I especially like the statue, it simplifies the description in the books but it works so well in LEGO! Just a wizard standing on top of a skeleton, great idea. It's indeed very hard to photograph black LEGO bricks, try to do it in a well lighted place. Good luck!

    WINTER BREAK: Zonko's Joke Shop

Amazing! Really, I love it. It gives me a totally different vision on the wizarding world of Harry Potter, one less medieval than I had in mind and very wacky. And I think I like this vision. The exterior is really great, the red contrasts very well with its surroundings. The angled window and column make it look wacky and just perfect for a joke shop. The mouth and lamp post are also great. The exterior really has changed my idea of this shop and makes me rethink my own interpretation of Zonko's Joke Shop. The interior is lovely with all the different colours. And I also like all the different items, there's a great variation of wacky items! The tube giving light is a nice touch, and so is the Sneakoscope. I hope you'll make more interpretations of magic buildings from Harry Potter. The totally different feeling you've managed to create is just wonderful. I didn't say 'Harry Potter' to me when I first looked at it, but on a second glance it did. Good luck in the contest!

    WINTER BREAK: Azkaban Mass Breakout

Amazing job! The first that came in mind: someone did it! Someone managed to make Azkaban based on the magnificent film version. I started once, but soon stumbled on not having enough black bricks and not getting the exact shape. The shape is really well done, so is the whole presentation of your creation. The base is really nice and the newspaper finishes it nicely. And the water breaking into the rocks is also very well done. One thing I also like is the detail of the outbreak. I would have liked it even more if it were totally in black, but there are always limitations. Overall it's just great, good luck!

    WINTER BREAK: Weasley' Wizard Wheezes

What a great entry to begin this contest with! The overall look is very nice and you've used some great techniques and details in there. The snowy touch is also nice. I think your building fits well in a wizarding village, with all those little crazy details and the curved part, there's definitely some magic going on there. The exterior would really be complete with some purple posters, but alas, no decals are allowed. The interior is also lovely, but as said before, there could be a bit more colour in it. But I still like it though, there are lovely details and there's a nice variety of shop items. Great job and good luck in the contest!

    Harry Potter Month

Earlier today I was browsing on Eurobricks when out of the blue the banner switched images. And I love it! It's a great banner, better than the one with all the copied bushes. It fits greatly into the Harry Potter theme, but it also has the darker feeling of the series from the 3rd book/film onwards. And it fits in the winter period. It even gave me some inspiration. Great work!

    MOC: How It Feels

Great scene, Oky Wan Kenobi! You've captured the films scene very well. I like the position of the figures and that hairpiece works very well for Lavender. I like the birds, all yellow would have been nice but the colour pallet limits it. Great usage of a key chain figure, you proved they can be useful! I must say the usage of grey parts works really well to capture the emotional atmosphere. Awesome job, I'm looking forward to your Deathly Hallows creation!

    Harry Potter Winter Break Contest

It doesn't have to happen in the series, it just has to be a place or building in the universe of Harry Potter. The contest really focuses on buildings. And there are so many buildings you could make because the world is filled with magical places ranging from dark prisons and wizarding hospitals to bureaucratic ministries and majestic mansions, you'll definitely find a good choice. And don't forget all the houses the trio has visited throughout all the books, there are plenty of interesting ones. And no, it doesn't have to be situated in the winter. The name is just because the contest goes on in the winter. Anyway, I've started building on mine but it's going to take a while I think. Not wanting to destroy any of my earlier buildings, I'll also have to make an order. I'm trying to think out clever ideas because I base myself on the film rendition of the building, which is pretty wicked to be made in LEGO. I'm looking forward to the first entry.

    Harry Potter Month

Yay! Thanks for organising the Harry Potter Month, Eurobricks! I knew something special was coming, so when the contest was launched, I was quite happy. But I didn't expect a month full of Harry Potter anymore. Anyway, I'm looking forward to all the specials and of course to a great new batch of LEGO Harry Potter creations. Great job on the layout also, fits very well with the atmosphere created in the darker films!

    Harry Potter Winter Break Contest

Wow, great surprise! I knew something was coming, and although it's not a themed month, I'm also very happy with a contest. I also like the new board style and the banner, great job. Well, seems like I have to enter this contest. If only I had waited with building the Burrow... But it means I have to come up with something else. Perhaps the biggest pub from Hogsmeade, or something completely different. Like Sandy said, it will be tough to not pass the 1000 piece limit, but it makes the contest more fair. The prizes are really great (I don't own any of them yet), but if I'm honest I'm just really looking forward seeing all new LEGO Harry Potter creations, I can enjoy that. I hoped for a revival of great Harry Potter creations with the release of the film and this contest will certainly get out the best of the participants.

LDD MOC: Harry Potter vs Voldemort

Nice creation and vision of the final battle. But Primusman, would you please delete your spoiler? I wouldn't want to disappoint shadowreaperx with giving the most important elements of the Harry Potter series away, he's reading the 5th book. Spoiling something like that now isn't fun, although you used the !spoiler alert! sign. I surely hope he hasn't seen it yet.

    Harry Potter Ideas Collection

What... Er. I'm sorry? I'm sorry because I expressed my opinion, is that what you want me to say now? I love the new line of sets, even though they are remakes. We got beautiful new pieces and figures, and lovely designs, just like we're used to of the LEGO Harry Potter line. What's the point? I don't know, but I bet it has to do with making a profit. Because that's the main goal of every money earning company. But it also made all the (LEGO) Harry Potter fans happy, including myself. I don't say there won't be any LEGO Harry Potter sets at all in 2011, but looking at previous licensed themes, they are getting a shorter lifespan every year. I am sorry if a have disappointed the fans here, but how could I do that? It was my opinion. I am a huge Harry Potter fan myself (so ending the LEGO Harry Potter theme is the last thing I want to see! There are still loads of things and characters I want to see in LEGO). When there was announced LEGO Harry Potter officially was never going to be released again I started to make my own creations, including The Burrow (and a year later they announced the set, I was so happy!). I love the sets, but I also love to make my own creations in the fantastic universe created by J.K. Rowling. And that's what I was trying to say with my post in this topic: to base us on these great ideas and make our own creations! Again, you don't have to get all angry on me and make me feel bad. You're not the only one who wants to see more sets, but I'm just saying we have to be realistic.

    BrickMania, 27 and 28 November

We can't predict what the sellers will have available, but there's always a wide range of LEGO parts and sets. I'll also be there on Saturday with my Hogsmeade layout (although a work in progress) with my buildings, a forest and a train. I am really looking forward too it! Now let's just hope it won't snow on Saturday because it would be a hell of a ride to Wilrijk.

    Harry Potter Ideas Collection

These are all great ideas guys, not only for sets but also for our own creations. We can keep updating our personal lists with sets we really want to see and we can hope all we want... But let's be realistic, I'm pretty sure we won't see new sets, let alone a set of the Shell. So why not pull out those bricks, or order the parts you need, and start building these ideas out. We can add new ideas for sets to this topic everyday, but why not make them true? I mean, the lists are really great and provide much inspiration, so why not use it to make our own LEGO Harry Potter related creations? And I'd love to see some more LEGO Harry Potter stuff, as I thought there would be with the release of the fantastic new film.

    Harry Potter

I watched it unexpectedly today with a friend, it was rather an impulsive decision and I usually don't make such decisions. I planned to watch it a month after the release, not in the same week! But Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 was awesome. It lived up to my expectations and I just loved it. To me, this is the best Harry Potter film (and book) till date, and I think it's especially because of the sudden change: away from the school. I must admit, I was growing tired of the magic school of Hogwarts, I just loved the seventh book because because of that. They left school and are suddenly pushed into real life. The film portrayed that well and there were many highlights, including the animation. I was also impressed by the cinematography and the music, but it's only recently I've really become interested in films and everything to do with them, so perhaps that's why it stroke me. But I'll do an elaborate review later on, tomorrow when I have settled my thoughts about it.

    MOC : Horace Slughorn's House

A very nice creation that fits greatly into your brickfilms. My favorite is the interior, but it really comes to life in your brickfilm. Great effects and nice lightning.

    Lego Harry Potter Visual Dictionary

I can confirm the release of this book, but it won't be May 2011. I've been told it's going to be published late 2011 (perhaps with the release of the last film?). I'm very excited for it and I'm looking forward how it's going to look.
  20. Thanks for the information Omicron! Now I'll finally be able to purchase my first BrickForge order this week including the centaur bodies, the new hairpieces, a scooter and some older accessories. I still have the 10$ coupon from last years MCW contest...

    REVIEW: 4737 Quidditch Match

Great review, Clone O'Patra! It's obvious this set is all about the minifigures (perhaps we could even conclude the whole new LEGO Harry Potter theme is about lovely new figures). Flint looks really great, like a cartoon version of the actor. I don't think Madam Hooch looks screwed up. If I remember correctly, the Madam Hooch in the first film had yellow/orange eyes and this is how she's described in the book, so they did a good job: "Their teacher, Madam Hooch, arrived. She had short, grey hair and yellow eyes like a hawk." The parts of this set are also interesting, especially the minifigure parts and accessories. Green plates are always useful, so are the golden cones. The cup could be the Triwizard cup. But those catapults are unnecessary. If I'd buy this it wouldn't stay together very long I think. Perhaps I'll rebuilt my Quidditch Practise I got years ago to compare the two sets. What keeps me from buying this set is the price tag of 25 Euro, that's really way too much for what it is. Luckily most of the Belgian LEGO sellers notice this and they put a price tag of 20 Euro on it. Thanks for this excellent review!

    2011 City sets

I love that minifigure pack! I wasn't interested in the new Police line, just like the last one, because of the colour change. But this line brings us three new pieces: the crowbar, the backpack and the dog. And the smallest set has all three of them! I have to admit though, at first I thought it was the same dog mould but with a lovely headprint. It's nice to see a new dog mould, then we'll have some variation in our domestic animals collection. Thanks for the pictures!

    MOC : Diagon Alley

Very nice, Geertos13! Your Diagon Alley has definitely the feeling of the place described, with all the little colourful shops. I like all of the shops. The interior of Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes is also nicely done. Making streets like this is pretty hard, I think. If you don't make the street wide enough, it's hard to photograph or let visitors look at it at conventions and such. I have to agree that you're alley is perhaps a bit too wide but you made it for a brickfilm so I can understand you needed the space for your camera to move freely. It would look a bit better with lamp posts and perhaps a bit more action, like little shopping stands and such. Again, nice job and I'm looking forward to see some more of your LEGO Harry Potter creations!
