  1. Great job, Cutlass Iz! The first version was already nice, but it's looking even nicer adding more white plates. This is a very lovely scene and it reminds me very much of the film scene. The church looks great for the little scale it's been build in, I especially like the stained glass. The statue with the turntable looks also very good, nice idea. The whole scene has a lovely wintery feeling. The foot prints are also a nice touch! Good luck in the contest.

WINTER BREAK: Number 93 Diagon Alley

I replied on Flickr when you released the pictures of Wizarding Wheezes, but I never took the time to reply on Eurobricks. Really great entry! I was surprised how big you can go using only 1000 pieces. The colours are really nice and fits the Weasly twins very much. The windows are very nice, but the eye-catcher is of course the awesome statue. I'd love to see some kind of interior, or more exterior details like various flashy posters. Good luck!

WINTER BREAK: The Three Broomsticks Inn

With pleasure. I'm trying to reply in all of the entry topics, and yours is one of them! It looks indeed better with the interior, nice job.

    WINTER BREAK: Hogs Head Inn

Amazing entry, maydayartist! It looks so big and yet you managed to stay around the 1000 piece limit. The exterior looks nice, especially the roof and the chimney. The big wall pieces don't even look bad. The interior is also lovely. The chandelier and other details like the curtains are very nice. The fireplace is also great. And of course, great use of that giant figure! Good luck!

    WINTER BREAK: The Leaky Cauldron

Great building! Nice to see Harry's first encounter with the magical world in LEGO. I had seen your first version and I must say your new one is indeed better. It looks better smaller, more compact, with a tiled floor and a pavement. Although the overall style is simple, I really like it. The cauldron hanging on the front is a nice detail. I especially like the back of the building with the court to Diagon Alley, that angled window gives it a nice look. The interior is also very nice, good idea using those green bricks! Good luck in the contest!

    WINTER BREAK: Honeydukes

Great Honeydukes, JimButcher! I really like the colours and the work with the tiles on the walls. The interior is also pretty, although simple but it's still nice. I like the Bogart in the attic. The cellar is a really nice addition, with the stone work and everything. It gives a weird picture of the building though, without a pavement or something. Good luck!

    Harry Potter 2011 Discussion

I'm not mad for him being in the set, there just could be another better figure in it. He'll be in three sets then. And I said it also, just turn the head and you'll have an extra Death Eater. For 50 EUR I certainly won't be complaining!

    Harry Potter 2011 Discussion

Looks pretty nice, thanks for the picture! What struck me first: the box looks way too big for what is is. But what it is, is looking awesome. It's basically a beautiful expansion (Astronomy and Ravenclaw tower) to the new Hogwarts set, which I still haven't got yet. I have to admit though it looks a bit bland, but I'm sure it will complement lovely with the new castle to create a big and awesome official LEGO Hogwarts castle! Looking forward to the interior, perhaps a statue? The figures are lovely to, I especially like Remus Lupin. He's one of my favorite characters and this new design reminds me of the Lupin designed by Tin7. And Neville looks great too. Sprout is a nice figure to get too. A bit disappointed about Goyle, no need for him. And Lucius Malfoy is also unnecessary. Malfoy overkill, anyone? (Okay, sure, give him another torso and you have a random Death Eather). I'd rather have two students instead: one from Ravenclaw and one from Hufflepuff. And I love that background painting, would be nice to have it without the LEGO set in front of it. I hope the other sets will have some more new figures and not including a new Lucius Malfoy again.

    What did you buy today?

Yesterday I bought 7952: Kingdoms Advent Calendar (20 EUR), 4738: Hagrid's Hut (42 EUR) and my dad bought 5766: Log Cabin (25 EUR) at the Brick Tricks event in Belgium. A pretty nice haul, it was a long time ago since I bought a couple of sets.

WINTER BREAK: The Three Broomsticks Inn

Good creation, Mr. Brick! There are a few representations of this inn now and all of them are unique. I like that your Three Broomsticks is based on the film version of the Hogsmeade houses, something I didn't dare to make on my own. The exterior is very unique and charming with such a roof. The interior looks bland, but the fireplace is nice. I hope you haven't wrecked this creation yet, so you can add figures and tables in the interior and share some pictures with us of it! Good luck!

    WINTER BREAK: Quality Quidditch Supplies

Nice job, lakers88! The exterior reminds me very much of the film, it's lovely. That quidditch panel from the Burrow set fits just perfectly, great usage of it! I think the two coloured roof also fits well for a quidditch shop. The interior is also very nice, but a little bit bland. I like the broom and the mannequin with quidditch outfit. The capes are also nice, everything looks nice inside the shop. But perhaps some brooms hanging on the walls, even brooms hanging from the ceiling, would have made the interior more special and unorganized like the magical world itself. Good luck!

    WINTER BREAK: Flourish & Blotts

Great job, Oky! I love reading about this magical book store and they made it looking great in the film. You've managed to give me the same feeling. The outside looks magical with the different windows on the side, the lower is very nice with those windows and those golden parts. You've saved many parts with the usage of those big tiles but actually it fits pretty well. What I especially like is the charming interior! What a lovely representation of the book store! The brown, gold and tan combines so good. I like all the little details, the various books laying around and those giant books on the shelves look actually very good (nice job for saving parts again). The scene looks very much like in the film, you even got a photographer! I also like the references to the monster book and the invisible book. Awesome job and good luck in the contest!

WINTER BREAK: Hut on The Rock

Nice job, it's a lovely little hut with that limited amount of parts. A rocky surface would make it better, perhaps something you can think of for the future if you'll ever redo this MOC.

    Female Vampire

Wow, great job! It looks really like an official figure. The head design is very well done and the parts are well combined. That hairpiece works just perfect for a female vampire.
  15. Nice job on the decals! Will you make some original ones to in the same style of characters who haven't been done in LEGO (yet)?

    WINTER BREAK: The Lovegood Home

Great job! You've managed to do something I wasn't able, and you've done it very nice. The exterior is very nice with the little details and the curves. Everything looks like it suits the Lovegoods perfectly. It was surprising to see that lovely interior when scrolling down. I especially like the effect of the horizontal window and the floor itself on an angle. Lovely interior, as described in the book. Good luck!

    WINTER BREAK: The Magical Tent

Fantastic entry, Jalkow! I really like it. The scenery is very nice, but the tent is of course the highlight of your entry. The surprise of the unfolding in your video is very well done, great and creative presentation. And the idea itself is just genious! Good luck in the contest.

    Harry Potter Winter Break Contest

Hinckley, in the Netherlands of course! Know your LUGs, but there are many of them. For those who haven't seen it yet: here's my little entry, the Gaunt House.
  19. The Gaunt House is located in the woods just outside Little Hanglenton. It was the home of Marvolo Gaunt and his children. The house is very small and they lived in poverty and deplorable conditions. Marvolo's daughter Merope is the mother of Voldemort. This is the place where Voldemort concealed Marvolo's ring, one of his Horcruxes. Later, Dumbledore found it and destroyed it. This creation depicts the scene where Harry and Dumbledore delve into Bob Ogden's memory as he goes to the Gaunt House. Ogden is confronted with Morfin, who has committed a crime. Later in the chapter Dumbledore tells about the ring and also how Merope became the mother of Voldemort. More pictures at: Brickshelf: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=459507 Flickr: MOCpages: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/249053 Phew, I'm going to be honest: this was hard. Just, the whole contest and especially the piece count (normally I'm under 1000 but I'll have to recount it). I started with the idea of making the Lovegood house, but it just didn't work out (I'm going to post some WIP pictures very soon), then I wanted to make a shop or something but I saw many of them already entered (awesome entries) so I wanted to stay original. Then I was going to make The Three Broomsticks in my usually style of Hogsmeade buildings, but that's also not very original for this contest. So I made something totally new, never seen before in LEGO and in the films. It's pretty important place and the Harry Potter vibe is still there I think. I just hope you'll like it! There's some tough competition in this contest, but it doesn't hurt to enter. Good luck to everyone!

    Harry Potter Original Wizard Contest

I don't mind it either, it's a great entry. I just think the rule is there so no one will exaggerate with their entry. And all the entries look great already! I'm noticing these rule policemen a lot during the LEGO Harry Potter Month(s). All I can say: chill out and mind your own creation.

    Harry Potter Original Wizard Contest

Katharine Zoeker Flanders' most famous Quidditch player In 1473 the Wizard Council organised the first ever Quidditch World Cup. The final match was an intense game between Transylvania and Flanders. During the match all 700 fouls occurred, most of them invented in that game. Katharine Zoeker, Seeker of the Flanders' team, scored the winning point by catching the Golden Snitch. She also set the record for flying the highest in a game of Quidditch. But is not well-known that her accomplishments were actually made by accident. Katharine was under influence of the Confundus charm, performed by the trainer of Transylvania, Peter Peterscu. He made her fly really high and away from the Quidditch field while Katharine thought she was going after the Golden Snitch. When she entered the mesosphere, Katarine started falling down and the Confundus charm had gone away. During her fall she amazingly managed to capture the Golden Snitch, delivering victory for Flanders. Various sightings of a woman flying on a broom were made amongst Muggles that day. This is going to be awesome. This game makes up the lack of sets for the last movies. Although it's only year 1-4, I'm pretty sure they will develop a game for all the movies and books (just like LEGO Star Wars: the complete saga). This is going to be so awesome. Oh wait, I already said that!
  23. Marakoeschtra over at Lowlug (Dutch) wrote an excellent review of this lovely set. The pictures are really nice and clear, I love the figures. Ollivander, Fred/George look awesome. It would have been even more awesome if the eyes of the goblins were black, but perhaps I'll buy a few more goblins and paint it black. I can't wait to get this set, but it isn't out yet in the Belgium shops who usually sell exclusive sets.

WINTER BREAK: Number 12 Grimmauld Place

It looks really great so far with the dark grey parts. I like it and I bet it turns out beautiful. I think I have an idea for how to do those balconies, I'll try to work it out myself, take some pictures and I'll send it to you if you are interested (kind of hard to explain with words )?

    Lego Harry Potter Visual Dictionary

That's a real shame, you were among the ones I suggested when they asked if I knew people who build LEGO Harry Potter creations. You're figures really should have been featured in the book, they're just awesome. I'm curious which creations they'll publish from me (I hope it's the Burrow and/or my Hogsmeade station) and I'm very happy to receive a free copy in the near future. But I only filled in the permission form a few days ago because I was buried with school stuff before, I really hope I'm still in it since they contacted me in the beginning.
