Speculations about 2h 2012 sets

There is not a remote controller on orange power functions box. It used to be on previous boxes. Actual remote control is useless with servo motor - 3 positions (full forward, full backward, stop) aren't enought to sufficient steering control. Also, take into account model size, model role (crawler) and playability speed control is really needed function (btw. to protect parts from shocks). IMHO we will get a new remote control with speed/position control. Old RC on image is just to delude us. -

It would be great to add this MOC to rebrickable.com Fantastic creation. -
New Power Functions ideas

You are confusing extended mode with extra address space. These are two different things. Extra 4 channels should be fully functional as first 4 channels. You can also use Combo direct, Single pin continuos, Single pin timeout and Single output modes for extra channels. -

There is a really easy method to say if IR-receiver support new protocol. Receiver has a little green LED to indicate power-on state. When one switchs on power to new receiver the LED blink once and than turn on. LED don't blink on old receiver. The easiest way is to use 4 old and 4 new receivers. NTX program just send a command to switch to extra address in startup. Old receivers will ignore it and new ones will be switched. Now you have 8 channels. -

Actually newer (current) RC receivers support 8 channels (16 functions). But they dont have a switch for additionals 4 channels and RC controllers support only 4 channels. IMHO it is managable to control 16 functions from Mindstorm using IR link. I dont have Mindstorm (im waiting for next generation) so Im not able to prove it. -
Someone is selling Skyliner's Countach as a Kit on Ebay
Lucas replied to Meatman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There is big difference. Car is a merchandise (physical product) - it's value is in physical object. This object is selled and owned by car users. No one else can use the same car. And it can be resell as object. Instructions are intelectual product and they are owned by author. They don't have physical atributes (PDF file is just a carrier). The author isn't selling instructions itself but he is selling licence to use it (instructions are still his property). Licence can be restricted to timeframe and geografical area, can be exclusive or non-exclusive and it can (or not) include right to reselling (this right must be mentioned to apply, otherwise it is considered prohibited). So if instructions was sold without right to reselling, no one can do that. Selling model built with instructions (without instructions) is ok. -
Rebrickable.com

Thats great! I haven't been registered yet because I read on blog about sets only (part list not mentioned there). So, I'm going to register and try it :-) -

Hi, great site. It should be great to have a possibility to add custom part list to user inventory (for parts buyed from BrickLink). And later - a possibility to mark set as "built" and parts as "used" in MOC to have a option to search within unused parts when I dont want to disassemble models. Lucas -
Building Challenge: Make that fireplace glow and flicker

Microcontroller is great but complicated for beginers because it requires programming. IMHO using a few transistors and capacitors is easer. There is example of circuit. You can use tough paper instead of circuit board. -
Lego Technic Challenge: "Build Your Own M-B Unimog"

Thank you Tim, I have no time to make a video rigth now (I'm leaving to Rome, Italy tonight. I'll be without net, so I won't know if my creation is in 10 finalists) I thought that functions are clear from pictures and description but I'll try to summarise it: - Motion and steer: 2 M motor, one for each track (remote controlled) - Rotation of excavator attachment: 1 M motor (remote controlled) - Pneumatic compressor: 1 M motor (remote controlled) - Switching pneumatic power between front and rear attachment (similar to official 8110 Unimog) from cabin - 3 pneumatic function on rear attachment (excavator): 2 for controlling arm and 1 for controlling digger - 2 pneumatic function on front attachment (front loader): 1 for lifting and 1 for tilting of dipper Lucas -

Hi Perry, the question is if you want to use pure Lego elements. Because it is quite simple and cheap to build LED diod flashing circuit. You can make 4 pieces with different capacitors to achieve different frequencies. This should quite well simulate a fire. -

Lego Technic Challenge: "Build Your Own M-B Unimog"
Lucas replied to DLuders's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is my creation for Technic Challenge. The official description for content: "New special tracked version of Unimog for the hardest tasks where wheels cannot stand. Presented with excavator (rear) and front-loader (front) attachments. Remote controlled model with 4 motors: left/right track, back PTO (turntable) and pneumatic compressor with front/rear switch in the cabin." I wanted to make a compact model so there was limited space. I managed to build-in 4 remote controlled M motor (with functions described above), battery box and front/rear pneumatic switch. It has 5 pneumatic functions. Front bumper must be removed to attach front attachment. I will post more pictures later.
