  1. As pointed out by The Rambling Brick, the robots in the new Ninjago Dragon Power Spinjitzu Flip sets have strong Classic Space vibes
  2. Thanks! The Umbara arc is definitely one of the best arcs of the series, if not the best. It’s so memorable, it’s hard to believe it came out 12 years ago. I also thought the Umbarans needed improvement, and I think these helmets suit them much better.
  3. Ah, I see. 😁 Well, my point about the Monkie Kid sets still stands even by this definition. But yeah, if you want to invent your own Space factions, this is a nice parts pack.
  4. What does this have to do with space? I’d say the Space subtheme of City or the space sets from Monkie Kid are as close as we get (which is pretty close).

    25 Years of Adventure!

Neat logo! Can’t wait for the contest! (We need a Johnny Thunder emoticon to properly express our excitement for this!)
  6. While Adventurers will always be THE action and adventure theme for me, it's hard to argue against Ninjago. Over a decade of sets, games, theme park rides, a long running TV show and even a theatrical movie make it the clear GOAT.
  7. Greetings, adventurers! This is my entry for the 60th Anniversary of the Brick contest on Brickset, a microscale version of the classic Adventurers set 5988 The Temple of Anubis. Here is a picture of the original set for comparison: Here is a closer look at some of the more detailed parts of the set such as one of the Anubis statues, the truck, and the hot air balloon. I hope you like it and keep on adventuring!
  8. The MagnePulse Xcelerator is M-Tron's latest development in magnetic technology, an incredibly fast spacecraft featuring two large magnetic repulsion engines and a detachable cockpit that can serve as a rover. The rover is attached via magnets and seats one pilot and either a passenger or a cargo crate. The cockpit has a vertical panoramic window that also functions as the front wheel of the rover.
  9. The leaked Dreamzzz sticker sheet features a variation of the CS logo with an hourglass and a few figs with useful-looking futuristic armor and Cyberpunk hairstyles, so it looks like we might indeed get our space fix from this theme!
  10. The loss may be on your part too. The upside of conflict sets is that you get more variety in one buy and might end up with a build, minifigs, or parts that you like and would otherwise have missed out on. In this particular example, while the mech is nice, it has limited poseability and the alien ship is the true star of the set with a neat transforming feature, at least according to reviews I’ve seen. There have been several instances where I could only afford one small set from modern themes, so I was glad to get a bit of both factions in that set. Also, it’s not like there weren’t plenty of other small, cheap sets in this subtheme to choose from if you couldn’t afford this one. I mean, the characters weren’t any more bland than most of the ones in previous Space themes. It may seem that way when compared to Life on Mars, but that theme was the only one to have such distinct characters up to that point. If anything, characters only became more unique after this in SP3 and Galaxy Squad, so that didn’t signify anything. And the alien vehicles were anything but sloppy. As already pointed out, they had a very distinct and consistent color scheme and look. As for the conflict, see above. But sure, if you want to blame the death of Space on the theme that brought it back after a long hiatus and kept it going for several more years, go ahead.
  11. Agreed, it was a great theme. The sleek designs, NPUs, and consistent and appealing color schemes really put this above the previous Mars theme and other Space themes. Wish I had picked up more than just one of the small sets. I don’t mind stickers (if anyone wants to send me theirs, I’d happily take them), so the only thing I didn’t like were the lame alien figs. Never really saw the problem with the “conflict in a box” concept either which existed in other LEGO themes long before this one. And as you said, the visual storytelling of mining vehicles retrofitted with defenses by necessity was excellent. I wouldn’t put Mars Mission above SP3 or Galaxy Squad which also had some great set designs and WAY better aliens, but it’s certainly a good one to look back on and does feel a bit underrated.

No, there is absolutely no way… except literally anything with a bar or clip. Even just sticking it on an antenna would do.

    Lego 2K Drive Racing Game

Good question! I personally can’t wait for this! We haven’t had a proper LEGO racing game in over 2 decades and this looks like the spiritual successor to LEGO Racers that many have been wanting! The cars are creative and give a nice wacky feel. There’s a lot of potential for sets here, so let’s hope it will be popular. The only thing that might put people off is the fact that it’s from 2K and the ridiculous prices for it, especially for those “deluxe” editions, although that’s a problem with games in general. The preorder bonus for those is pretty sad as it just looks like a Creator polybag with the 2K logo slapped on it. Also, the graphics don’t look as good as they could. Many of the rounded pieces such as the chicken’s eyes have their curves represented by only a few polygons, even on the promo art. Is this really the best we can do with modern graphics? Either way, it does look fun and I look forward to playing it, but will definitely wait for a sale.

Classic Space Era Spaceship Contest - Results

Wow, thanks for all the votes everyone! Congrats to the other winners! All the entries were amazing and it’s great to see so much Space love! Thanks to the staff for organizing this fun contest. I hope to see another contest like this for the other aubthemes like Insectoids, Mars, SP3, etc. some day!
  15. Neat! There is a lot of negative talk around AI, but I think it can be a useful tool when used ethically, such as for creating inspiration for builds, and these are definitely inspiring! Thanks for sharing.
  16. I was watching Just2good build the set on Twitch last night and it looks like you were right about it being trans. green. 👍
  17. Pretty sure that’s satin trans-black.
  18. I suppose so, but MOCs don't have to be remakes of old sets. It would fit in with the theme nicely since it's basically the same shape as the Space Police windscreens, only much shorter. It's way closer to the original windscreens than the Lightyear windscreen is to the one on the original Blacktron ship at least.
  19. What do you mean? You can use any shape you like in MOCs.
  20. That part looks more trans. bright green to me. But yeah, those sets look great. They’re just the kind of unique, colorful spaceships I would expect to come out of LEGO Space if the theme still existed today.
  21. I think you can also upload pictures to YouTube under the community section. Or you could just get a free Flickr or Instagram account.

Post about Cartoons and Anime you like

What meme? I keep hearing positive things about the show, so I might check it out at some point. Currently, I'm watching The Legend of Vox Machina. It's a fun show with a pretty cool backstory and is a great way to get excited for the upcoming DnD Ideas set! Amazon's other animated show, Invincible, is also pretty great. Netflix also keeps producing quality animation. Arcane is especially fantastic, but some of their other shows like JW Camp Cretaceous, Daniel Spellbound, Sonic Prime, and Kung Fu Panda The Dragon Knight, while aimed at a younger audience, are not bad either. Not to mention their excellent animated movies like Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio, Klaus, or The Sea Beast! I'm also enjoying the new Proud Family on Disney+. It's nostalgic and just as good as the original in my opinion.
  23. So, according to Promobricks, the rumored Dreamzzz theme is going to include a $90 set with 878 pcs titled "Mr. Oz’s Spacebus". The theme sounds absolutely bananas, so the set will probably look a lot more wacky than your typical Lego Space craft, but it's something. Nope. It was just a one-and-done which is why it was a GWP, not a real set, just like the Forrestmen Hideout. That doesn't mean they won't have another Space themed GWP again someday, although it probably won't be Blacktron again.
  24. So, there has been some Disney news lately, so I thought it would be time to start a general Disney discussion thread. The biggest news for me is that there is a new DuckTales series coming in 2017! Official announcement: http://blogs.disney.com/oh-my-disney/2015/02/25/this-is-not-a-drill-were-getting-new-ducktales-in-2017/ DuckTales was my favorite show as a kid, so this is great news for me! I'm glad that a whole new generation of kids will be able to enjoy this awesome show. But at the same time, I'm worried how they will update it. Disney hardly produces any traditional animation for their TV shows anymore, so there is a good chance that it will be CGI like Mickey's Clubhouse and some of their other shows, or even worse, Flash animation like 7D *shudder*. If they put enough effort into it, I think it could actually work in CG. For example, I quite liked Scrooge's rendition in Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas, but of course traditional animation is always preferred. Also, I really hope they don't change the theme song. It's one of the best and catchiest theme songs ever and I feel that any deviation would ruin it. With this and the live action Chip'n'Dale: Rescue Rangers movie next year, it seems that the Disney Afternoon is making a comeback. What other shows would you like to see return? I'm hoping for Darkwing Duck next (which I'm surprised they haven't brought back yet considering the superhero craze right now). Oh, and we got a trailer for Frozen Fever yesterday. I'm not interested in Cinderella (I don't see the point in making live action versions of Disney cartoons), but I wouldn't mind seeing this short film.
