Nice, it's kind of a more modern version of my castle fellowship. All of them are definitely recognizance. https://flic.kr/p/2opByVJ

[Contest] Space Pirates - Back to the Carribean Galaxy!
JimBaggins replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks to the organizers and congrats to the winners! I had fun participating in the contest and seeing all the fun builds people came up with Although I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the voting system, it feels more subjective than having a panel of judges. I felt like I finally produced a build with good enough building techniques and presentation to do well in a contest with my 'rustbucket', but it's less traditional/'pirate-y' style led it to getting less votes from some people. Although maybe I'm reading too much into it -
Captain Fishbone wept as he flew over the once prosperous Caribbean seas. His crew had abandoned him, leaving him with nothing but one ship, his modified flying tugboat called the Rustbucket. My entry to the Eurobricks Space Pirates Contest 'Rum for everybody!' category The Ship is based on Bdubs' fantastic flying tugboat Minecraft build in his Building with Bdoubleo series. https://flic.kr/p/2pB76a5

I made a build breakdown and behind the scenes post on my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/C4RHPUZy9M8/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Thanks for the kind words! Only the one side is built, with the back open. Hopefully I can share some behind the scenes pictures sometime in the next few days.

I'm working on a steampunk flying tugboat, would that style fit within the parameters of the contest, or is it strictly space style sci Fi pirates? -
I don't think they have the rights to the book, isn't that why they weren't allowed to explicitly state that the white haired dwarf in Rivendell is Gloin?

MOC I built for Brickscalibur's far east Elegance and the Iron Forge round 1. Whenever the stresses of life at the court become to much, the samurai Minoru loved to retreat to the mountains to contemplate and relax. He just stood in the shallow water staring off into the distance deep in thought. I wonder what he was contemplating. This build is a bit more stylized than I usually go for, with bright colors and a bit of forced perspective. https://flic.kr/p/2prXErt

Prince John Sits inside his lonely castle with everything he could possibly want. Money, Power, Land, Loyal Servants. But he is unsatisfied, craving only the death of the bandit Robin Hood. Meanwhile Robin Hood is enjoying a party with all his friends. He is an outlaw who owns nothing but the clothes on his back and his trusty bow. He gives away all the money he ever gets. And today he is happy, dancing with his one true love Maid Marion while all his friends dance play and sing around him. My goodness this took forever to edit. Stupid Leaves. Built for the "Light & Shadow" Category for the 2023 Summer Joust. Hopefully this is the right forum, it could also belong in licensed themes, but I figured it was a better fit here. I did enter it in the Summer Joust after all.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

I've developed a different strategy for searching for specific characters. It's possible, albeit tedious to check inside the blind boxes to identify what Minifigure it is. You stretch open one of the top corners a bit extra, hold the box above you and peer through the hole while shining a flashlight into it. You can shake the box to get a new piece by the lower corner, and use the colors/shapes to identify the minifig. It's easier with lighter colored characters, but you can definitely see specific colors and printing. I used this strategy for the boxed marvel Minifigures, but I imagine it will work just as well with the new series. -
Thanks! Those were the first parts I came up with, and I built the rest of the characters around. These orcs are meant to be cute! :D

I made this pair of smol orcs for Orctober. https://flic.kr/p/2p8xcnq

The new modular has some nice parts; I'm glad to see olive green masonry bricks return, and the white tri-leaf could prove useful. -
It's possible the helmet and plumes could be molded as one dual molded piece, that way they wouldn't need to make 4 different new parts. Although that would make recolors harder.

I love how dynamic and detailed the moc is. These Minifigures are top notch!

Could LEGO remake Fright Knights?
JimBaggins replied to Fulcrumfan91's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yeah Black knights/dragon Masters, along with forestmen variants would definitely be my ideal remakes. Especially the black knight shields and dragon master helmets. I already have 3 CMF fright knights, somehow a toy store has a bunch of cmf 19s for $5 they got wholesale. -

Sorry, should have done my homework and checked bricklink. I guess I never noticed it, it's been around since 2021. -
Gnome Castle - Summer Joust 2023
JimBaggins replied to BardDandelion's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The Summer Joust is an annual Lego castle competition. It ended a month ago, but it is a ton of fun and I recommend checking it out next summer. https://www.flickr.com/groups/14827660@N23/pp It's winter counterparts-ish Brickscalibur and CCC are coming up, and are also a ton of fun! https://brickscalibur.com/ http://www.classic-castle.com/ -

The new viking village has some amazing recolors! Nougat barrel, nougat grilles (for straw), white stems, white ferns, and a few other gold and brown parts used for architectural details. Along with a smorgasbord of tasty printed parts as well! -
What a fun build and story. It turned out very cohesive and vibrant. Congrats on the summer joust win!

How did you make their helmets? I imagine if Lego did make custom helmet moulds for them they would be useful for custom knights and orcs.

I can think of a bunch of amazing and useful variety of almost all the fellowship. Orc Frodo+Sam, Rohan Merry, Gondor Pippin (hobbits would include new color dual molded hobbit legs, such as black,.gunmetal grey, d. tan), Updated ranger Aragon (dual molded arms/legs, printed bracer, cloak) or King Elessar, Gondorian armor Boromir (with printed chest plate and torso; this + Pippin and potentially Elessar would allow for 3 or 4 Gondorian soldier variants), Updated Gandalf the white, Helms Deep armor Legolas (with accurate knife molds, dual molding). Only one I can't think of something for is Gimli. The last 3 slots could be filled with characters like Faramir, Eowyn (with a nice dress, leaving durnhelm for a pelennor fields diorama) and then maybe Denethor, Tom Bombadil, updated Galadriel, Butterbur... Or even Gothmog 😅 Of course this is 100% wishful thinking and wouldn't meet Legos' gender equality standards or marketability. But fun to imagine nontheless
