LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
necrochasm replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think it might actually be the best one, but I’m waiting to see how stable it is. The interior and the moving legs are absolutely insane. I also love how it opens the door to full interiors on UCS sets too, considering that besides the small areas on the Falcon, none of them have had a proper interior. I said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s like an unrealistic wishlist for a UCS AT-AT, except it’s real -

The more I look at this thing, the more I love it It’s like the dream AT-AT set we’ve all had in our heads but thought would never happen, except it’s actually REAL. Crazy. -

Yeah for sure, I’m genuinely impressed by that interior, to the point it almost feels fake if you know what I mean The legs seem to have some function to pose them too. If it’s actually stable, thats a HUGE step up from most mocs. I’m extremely impressed honestly -

I actually really like that interior, like, REALLY like it. The sets way better than I was expecting, I kinda wish it had less studs showing personally, but judging from what we see, that seems like a pretty easy fix. I also feel like it’s a little small for $800, but otherwise I’m a huge fan. Probably gonna have to sell a couple things... -

I don’t buy the fighter tank rumours, but the 187th honestly doesn’t seem that far fetched for lego to put into a set. We got the sandspeeder as a set, as well as the geonosis phase II clones and the hoth scout that we’re apparently getting in the battle pack I just find it to be overall too good to be true and the 2022 wave has been overwhelmingly OT based. I’d love to be wrong because this set sounds great but I’m just not holding my breath -

Which ended up creating the illusion that the OT is more represented due to borrowed elements. The X-Wings, TIEs and Falcons just blur together after a while. OT isn’t as over represented as it seems like honestly. Prequels still definitely took the hardest hit tho -

It’s literally only because they made a playscale one too many times, so now it’s become the official “THE OT GETS TOO MANY SETS” poster boy. As for me, I’m fine with it. We haven’t seen it yet and it could turn out to be pretty nice. I would have been far more disappointed by like, a third UCS X-Wing or a Snowspeeder or TIE advanced remake than this -

I’m kinda assuming it might have a hoth themed base of sorts. Gotta be something that makes it specifically a hoth AT-ST -

I actually really like the battle pack outside of the $20 price. It’s all army building like the old days and takes advantage of the possible 2 AT-AT sets that’ll be out by the time it comes out. I want more clones too, but I definitely can’t pass on the snowtroopers -

but by that argument, why did the X-Wing get a new cockpit? Why have sets evolve in general? And why produce new sets of it that are identical with no noticeable changes or improvements?? Beats me... -

Kinda what I've been thinking the whole time, if you actually look at it, 4 5 and 6 aren't as overly represented as people think they are. They just get overlapped by the Disney movies/shows. Everyone talks about how many times we get the X-Wing and Falcon in the last 10 years, but if you really look at it, not counting UCS, Only 3 out of the 6 X-Wings are OT and only the 2011 Falcon are actually OT sets, and all 3 OT X-Wings have major design changes. They start to blur together, suddenly all LSW amounts to is Falcons and X-Wings. Lego does what's relevant with Star Wars, and 2015 was the first time when the prequel era was essentially deemed irrelevant. It's not Lego that hates the prequel era, it's Disney -

I’m going to do an animation wishlist from Clone Wars, Bad Batch and Rebels, rather than just Bad Batch alone. Probably going to do a games one next Cid’s Cantina ($29.99) - small cantina that includes the counter and a holo chess table. Includes Cid, Omega, Wrecker and Echo Imperial Compound Escape ($29.99) - Similar to the 2019 death star escape set. Has the reactor room and vent, which leads to the pipes. Includes Tech, Gregor, a TK trooper and a clone commando Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced ($34.99) - Vader TIE in the same style as the 2021 TIE, themed after the Ahsoka vs. Vader fight. Includes Darth Vader, Ahsoka (rebels) and Ezra Umbaran Starfighter ($39.99) - A tad bigger in size than the 2021 TIE. Includes a small stand with a command station attached to it. Includes Fives, Hardcase an an Umbaran Separatist Defoliator Tank ($59.99) - Similar scale to the 2020 AAT, but with more mass on it. Cannon has a feature that lets you launch out the canisters. Includes phase I Rex and 2 battle droids The Nightbrother ($59.99) - Pretty much identical to the current mando starfighter, but in maul colors and with landing gear. Based on Rebels. Includes Rebels Maul and Ezra V-19 Torrent and Vulture Droid ($79.99) - V-19 is the same size as the old 2008 version. The Vulture Droid is the same size as the 2000s one. Wings on the V-19 work similar to the old one, but the landing gear doesn’t connect to it and are retracted on it’s own. Includes a phase I clone pilot, a phase I clone trooper and clone wars Obi-Wan Imperial Gunship ($129.99) - Bad Batch LAAT. Somewhat downscaled from the 2013 set, guts the speeder bike function from the old one. Build style somewhat resembles the UCS version of the gunship. Includes Hunter, Scorch, 2 TK troopers and 2 regular phase II clones The Ghost ($159.99) - Upsized ghost more in line with the 2019 Falcon. Includes a small Phantom II that docks into the back. The panels lift up similar to the falcon, and reveal a proper interior. Includes Ezra, Chopper, Hera, Zeb, Kanan Jarrus, Sabine and rebel Kallus Venator-Class Star Destroyer ($179.99) - Similar in size to the 2006 star destroyer. The front and side panels open up, the front having the bridge, and the side panels having a medical bay and Maul’s prison cell. Includes phase II Rex, Ahsoka, Maul, Jesse, R7-A7 and 3 332nd troopers -

The weird thing is, it seems to be selling out a lot in the physical stores?? I'm also seeing a lot of people buying it too? But yet it isn't sold out? Who knows. I do think not including Cody did hurt sales though regardless of anyone's opinion on it Possibly. There's just a lot riding on this set. If it bombs, we'll probably be set back to just OT remakes again I will say though, it seems there's a higher stock for these sets in general. It took a while for the mando starfighter and the slave I to hit backorder. Even the bad batch took a while, so who knows -

I like it because It’s like a small display model, but if were gonna be real, $50 was just not a good price point to put Slave I at, and probably should’ve been similar in price to the imperial shuttle and similar in size to the jango one from 02 -

I’m kinda leaning cavegod size as much as I’m desperately hoping its more along the lines of the brickvault one in size AT-AT is big, but it’s not a whole millennium falcon tall and a whole millennium falcon long -

I... agree and disagree here. A lot of the starfighters and air vehicles I think work well downscaled, but we've seen a lot of the big land vehicles downscaled (2010 AT-AT, 2013 AT-TE, 2014 MTT, 2016 Turbo Tank) and honestly, they kind of suck. Downscaling is good to make sure that your flagship set never becomes, like, a $140 ARC-170 or something, but something like the turbo tank or a capital ship is meant to be big and awesome and should stay that way -

Yes and no. I think we're gonna see one in the UCS AT-AT if it actually ends up happening, but if that ends up being the case, an individual set for one won't be for a while but if it ends up actually being DSII... -

I'm thinking it does, sooner than later too. I just hope its closer to 2005/2010 in size than 2016, which just didn't work for me -

Just some ideas I have, I don't expect any of these to happen January Imperial Clone Battle Pack ($14.99) - 2 white phase II clones, 1 shock trooper, 1 elite squad trooper Super Commando Battle Pack ($14.99) - 4 Darth Maul super commandos, 2 female 2 male Tri Fighter and Vulture Droid ($29.99) - Tri Fighter similar to the 2005 one in size, Vulture Droid similar to the downscale ones we were getting in the late 2000's but more up to date. Includes 2 battle droids and a buzz droid TIE Interceptor ($39.99) - Build very similar to the 2021 TIE. TIE Pilot and an Imperial Officer Y-Wing ($49.99) - Similar to the 2007 version but a tad smaller and a little more up to date. Includes Gold Leader and R2-BHD The Justifier ($79.99) - Similar size to the new imperial shuttle. Has a small prison cell in the back to fit omega. Includes Cad Bane, Fennec Shand, Omega and Todo April/May Helmet sets are self explanatory Imperial Royal Guard ($69.99) Phase II Clone Trooper ($59.99) Din Djarin ($59.99) Speeder Bike ($79.99) - Okay hear me out, how about instead of a droid, we start getting smaller UCS style vehicles like this, the AT-RT, BARC speeder etc. I think the classic speeder bike is a good place to start. Include a scout trooper (obviously) Luke's Landspeeder ($199.99) - Yeah, I said it. Probably the last of the $200 range OT vehicles we can get if you don't include the TIE Advanced, Interceptor and AT-ST. Similar size to the UCS Snowspeeder, include Luke (Obviously) and a new C-3P0 with arm printing and a dual molded silver leg Summer A-Wing Starfighter ($24.99) - Downscaled and similar in size to the 2006 one. Comes with an A-Wing pilot and Mon Mothma Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter ($29.99) - Blue Obi-Wan starfighter with a similar build to the 2020 Anakin one. Includes Obi-Wan, an astromech and Phase II Cody Mos Pelgo Cantina ($49.99) - small cantina build with a Cobb Vanth's speeder. Includes Cobb Vanth, Mando, Grogu and Peli Motto Imperial Dropship ($59.99) - Mandalorian Imperial Dropship. Think Mandalorian Starfighter-ish size. Includes rusty armor Boba Fett, mortar trooper and 2 regular stormtroopers U-Wing Starfighter ($109.99) - Bigger than the 2016 one with longer wings and more space for minifigures. Seeing as Cassian show isn't out, I can really only say Cassian and possibly K2 for the figures Encounter on Kamino ($119.99) - Jango Fett vs Obi wan scene. Includes the room where Jango and Obi-Wan meet, a landing platform (think 2018 Cloud City with some features in it) and a downscaled, 2021 style Jango Fett Slave I. Includes Obi-Wan, R4, Jango Fett with his Kamino outfit and his armor with arm printing, young Boba, Taun We and Lama Su Imperial Turbo Tank ($149.99) - similar size to the 2005 and 2010 Turbo Tanks but based off of Bad Batch, all grey. Include 2 small, 2011-style BARC speeders. Include Howzer, Rampart, young Hera, Cham, Crosshair with scars, Orn Free Ta and 2 basic phase II clones Battle of Endor ($449.99) - a step further than the Endor bunker sets that keep getting suggested. Includes an Endor bunker, a landing pad for an Imperial Shuttle, a small shield generator, an AT-ST and an Imperial Shuttle very similar to the 2021 one, but with an improved cockpit. Figures are mostly what you'd expect, but with the inclusion of Vader and Luke -

Kinda curious how it goes, I can see a lot of these selling out for a short period, a lot of them ARE desired, but no way a 501st situation happens. Man why is everyone's attitude on the gunship either "it'll crash the site" or "it'll not sell a single copy and rot on shelves forever"? I'm kinda thinking day 1 for the gunship gonna sell out, especially with the misprint. It's AFTER the initial sellout period where I'm curious how it'll sell. -

Actually I was thinking about that being an 18+ set. I think this one's bound to happen actually. Maybe make it a little bigger than the bespin duel and medical chamber, go $100 on it. At the very least, it would be way better than the weird briefing/hangar one we got in 09 here's another thing I've been thinking too a bunch of people want a $150 or $160 play scale gunship, but wouldn't the gunship actually work as a downscaled set? Definitely not Slave I style, but more like the X-Wing where it's not that much smaller but it has some of the fat trimmed. Seeing as the gunship is already a little bit too big in the official sets, downsizing a bit would probably work. Also you could easily cut the speeder bike functions and the outposts that I'm pretty sure both had, you'd have more space for minifigs without the speeder bikes too. Make it CW style with the 2 doors and include a couple pilots, Obi Wan or Anakin, a couple regular p2 clones and a named clone (I'd say either Rex, P2 Cody or Fives) and sell it for like, $100-$120 -

Definitely agree with that, also gotta remember, the 4 they DID make are... a darth maul head, a small naboo starfighter, a weird looking general grievous statue aaaaaand an Obi Wan starfighter that got overshadowed by the UCS shuttle and when people say they want prequels, they mean clone wars vehicles. Republic Gunships, ARC 170s, Venators, AT-TE's the sets were gonna fail no matter what -

Thank you! also I somewhat agree, probably went a bit too far in some places here, so I'll just say what I agree and disagree with here 1 starfighter makes more sense, and I would bet on the red jammer, seeing as we have the X-Wing already out and they want you to buy it (obviously) as for crossing films, I agree we probably wouldn't get Rebels characters, but I can't really agree on no Rogue One figures. You gotta remember, every MBS is based on a location that really only appears in 1 movie (Cloud City, Ewok Village, Mos Eisley), Yavin has a big role in 2. I REALLY struggle to see a Yavin set that doesn't include Bail Organa and Mon Mothma in it (you gotta remember too, Bail was in the Tantive despite being from Rogue One) Probably mostly ANH with a few R1 figs in there Definitely agree that including 40-50 battle droids is insane. I was mainly trying to illustrate that it can fit 40-50, but yeah including that is just... unrealistic. I could definitely see them releasing this with a droid battle pack so they can pull a "FILL YOUR MTT" thing Completely disagree on it being a UCS. It has a similar issue to the Sandcrawler where it's wayyy too fig to minifig scale it (it would end up like, UCS star destroyer length and taller than the UCS Slave I standing up iirc) and too small to justify making it a downscaled UCS, so like the sandcrawler, it's MBS. For the figures, I agree with making it more Kashyyk based, but I'd include a few more clones than just that. Maybe go from 4 Kashyyk troopers to 6 Kashyyk troopers. Overall tho, thanks for the input on these. Definitely appreciated
