    Tutorial Caravels

Wow, thanks! I'm planning to make one, I was recently inspired by a Columbus documentary that talkied about how he used caravels. ~Cpt. Tristan

    [MOC] OJKM Johannes Casimirus Rex

Nice job! I always love seeing non-English/French/Spanish stuff, and this is the first Polish MOC I've seen yet. Love the rigging and crew. Only a couple things though: I think the bow should be a bit more tapered, it seems a bit too stubby. Also, the nice stern color scheme and decals should blend a bit more with the rest. Nice job though! ~Cpt. Tristan

    Pirate Cave

LOVE IT. My favorite things: chandelier, throwing knifes+dummy, rocks w/stick between them and redcoat hanging from it, and the bottom cave area. Does it have a Classic pirate feel? HELL YEAH!!!! :pir-classic: :pir-classic: :pir-classic: ~Cpt. Tristan

    Seaside Lair

Very nice. I have a few forestmen myself and am thinking of building a rock outcropping with a small watchtower and little inside-a-rock hideout. Very well thought out design. ~Cpt. Tristan

    MOC: Trolls Mountain Fortress

Only set pieces.............DAMN thats nice. I would have made it more civilized (no trolls) but I love the design of a fort on a mountain with and extension to the side, and I've always viking/western style wooden forts over their stone counterparts. I will just HAVE to build something like this, even though I've been focusing more on the pirates theme. Nicely done video. ~Cpt. Tristan EDIT: Minor grammar & spelling

    Ideas for future sets

LOVE those ideas. Especially the seaside thing. I absolutely loved the one with the skeleton ship and almost got it, but I hated the ship itself too much. I think that it should have a decent dock with a small battlemented tower with a crane (in the water/on the docks). then you would have a heavy door to the docks set in some walls covered in ballistae surrounding a trading area. It would also need a back door of course to get the goods you bought overland to sell elsewhere, but the front door would have to be stronger to protect against sea attackers. As for the Dragon Knights castle, I'm thinking of basic walls to connect to the tower that can be arranged lots of ways and have a small back door. That way it could stand alone as a small castle with small double doors, but then you could also combine it with the tower and have the tower portcullis be the main entrance. Also with walls then the other prison (7187) would serve a purpose. I mean, it has a nice big gate, but if you want to get through you can just walk around. Some other ideas: Some sort of river w/bridge A large river is great as a natural barrier against your enemies, but you have to have a way of crossing it. Basically something like 6078 or 7079, except a LOT smaller, maybe even a small bridge with a little wooden viking-style structure, so that it could exist alongside better large sets. Something like any of these: A small-ish sailing ship A little island tower? ~Cpt. Tristan

    Wellington's British Army

Damn, thats impressive. I really like the cavalrymen, but i noticed that one of the helmets is chipped . Nice idea on the artillery mens' helmets, using the tires, although I prefer the new molded Royal Guard hats. Redcoats march to victory! ~Cpt. Tristan

Its not a bad life for the Red Coats!

Haha, nice! But my advice to the guy running towards the water: Maybe you should pick up one of those guns and capture the pirate to the left, you might get a raise...
  10. Hey I was just wondering if TLG knows about Bricklink. Im guessing they do, seeing as its the 5th site on the second page when you search "lego" in google, but if they do know does anyone know what they think about it? I'm sending an email to TLG and I'm wondering if it's safe to mention Bricklink.

    Small Port

Well I think you did a pretty good job. It has plenty of character and the waterfall is a pretty nice addition. But if you could add a couple closer pictures of the building then I could add more constructive criticism. If its more of a military port, then I would suggest expanding the building into a little more of a fort. If its more of just a supply 'pitstop' or trading area, then I would suggest expanding the building into more of a warehouse-type building. Either way, there needs to be living quarters though Keep us updated!

Fake LEGO pirates : general discussion

Actually I think the King of the Seas would be good as an imperial ship if you replaced the minifigs, sails, and modified it a bit. The blue and white patterned bricks and the blue cannon bases are pretty cool. Edit: Looking at all the actual knock-offs that are almost EXACTLY like lego and the terrible minifigs really does disgust me, but for some sets the actual IDEA is ok and I would buy if it was by lego (with better minifigs, etc.) Pirate Trading Post type thing And I like the military idea. I know they are horrible (missiles on a tank?), but the concept is good: Tank Heli Navy Ship Srry that the last three pics aren't pirates.

Pirates of the Caribbean battle pack

Wow, this is pretty exciting! But there should be a pirates battle pack and a separate Imperial IMO. My main problem with battle packs (mostly just the Pirates one and the PotC one) is that the minifigs are all completely different (I don't mean just faces, etc.). TLG should make more cheap sets that are just a generic minifig with one weapon, or a group of generic minifigs with weapons.

What If Battle : British Line VS Samurai

Well actually there is a good chance the samurai could win, because in the early 1600's some Portugese explorers came to Japan and sold three muskets, which the Japanese reverse-engineered to create more. So in fact, depending on the period the Japanese military would have muskets. Well actually the British were still setting up colonies in the 1600's (redcoat era), and the samurai were still around (according to Japan-Guide.com, they did use guns too) even though it was an era of peace. So you could have the Samurai and British fighting at the same time (same year, day, etc.) and the Samurai would have guns. BTW a historical side note: there once was a battle in which a military leader had a group of gunmen divided into three lines. The front line would shoot through the gun slits in a wall and once they had, they would move to the back and reload while the second line came forward to shoot. The second row would do the same as the first and the third row would move up. This allowed a constant barrage of gunfire on the enemy, and the side that used this technique won.

Is your member number a set number?

Awesome thread. Unfortunately I have 19882,which is way too long for a set . But when put backward there is 2889-1 (as Brickset has it listed, they put -1 after everything), which I am very happy with : Edit: added link to picture

    My five small Cutters

Wow, that's pretty cool (and cute). That actually inspires me to build my own fleet, although all imperial. Yes i've noticed that too.

    Small Merchant Ship

I was working on my port and was looking for parts when I got distracted by my 8821 hull. So I just started building and well, this is what I got. It's a little black merchant/fishing boat, and I'm actually quite satisfied with it. The cabin is pretty plain and square, but I like it. It may gain a sail when the Black Pearl comes out, but for now, here it is. Top Port Starboard Rigging and Mast Cabin/Ladder Cabin Port Stern

    REVIEW: 4182 The Cannibal Escape

This set is my favorite in the theme, excluding the Black Pearl. I have been thinking about getting it, but decided not to because of the ridiculous price. However, after this review I think I will, if not just for the awesome parts. I LOVE the inclusion of the top platform (really does give the "fort" feel), it's pretty nice.

    A question about POTC

You can't buy legos from any brand but lego. When you buy a "lego" from MB you are actually buying Mega Bloks. And also if you have legos and Mega Bloks, then you have to keep them separate because they do NOT mix. They have different parts, different kinds of minifigs, etc. And just a side note when we were kids, my brother and I would love to build legos together (and now still). But somehow, some Mega Bloks got mixed in with our legos. So whenever we would find one, we would run to the nearest trash can and chuck it in. I totally agree. Mega Blok sets is more for just play, ones like the FD are more for kids who like the satisfaction that they built it and then play with it.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

Well the Clone Wars is even better than PotC for sales because: 1. Because its a show, they can make new episodes to inspire new sets. 2. Lego is generally marketed for kids, kids love the clone wars. 3. Star Wars has always been a big success for kids and adults, so both will want a piece of the clone wars line. 4. PotC isn't really for younger kids, so a lot of them don't even know what the sets are about. 5. CN probably is funding Lego

Pictorial Review - 6285 Black Seas Barracuda

I have always loved this set. I would buy it, slap some different flags on it, replace the minifigs, and call it an imperial ship like you have never seen before if it wasn't for the fact that my brother has the same set . My only problem is the red sails. In my opinion pirate sails should always be black, because of the redcoats. the red sails should be for redcoats, blue for bluecoats, and black for pirates.

    The Kraken attacks !

Wow. That is pretty amazing in my opinion. I LOVE the waterfall SO much!!!! If you could maybe show me how it works I'd like to make a separate MOC of a jungle waterfall like that.
