  1. This is my RC MOD for 8448. It is not ready yet, but I like to start this topic anyway. Hope it don't mind. This is a great supercar, and I find out that it may not be too difficult to motorize it with PF-elements. So I want to give it a try. I have added Propulsion: 1 m-motor, goes well with gears 1, 2, 3, R, but it's not strong enough for 4 and 5. XL-motor is already ordered. Steering: 1 m-motor to steering, 24 teeth clutch gear + 8 teeth gear. Steering wheel in cabin works Gearbox 2 m-motors for partially remote controlled gearbox, 1 motor in both side, remote: 1+R, 2+3 or 4+5 and free position with all pairs. So when changing e.g. from first to fifth gear, you need to move the gear shifter manually. Dead simple system, works very well. One can think that is useless with only 2 gear + free, but it's so cool to change gear to bigger or smaller while driving! Others: 1 battery box, easily remove 2 IR-receivers 2 remote controller All the original functions are still working, suspension, convertible top, steering wheel, dummy engine, gearbox Here is just a quick video, showing how the PF-elements are added. I will try to take a video of functions if somebody is interested, after I have changed the XL-motor for driving. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igSChCkTA2k&feature=youtu.be Edit: new video of driving, still m-motor and batteries not 100 %. You can hear me changing gears between 2nd and 3rd, and if you look closely, you are able to see it goes faster (obviously) with 3rd gear. In 3rd gear propulsion is louder as you can hear, but it sounds must worse on the video than it actually is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPCWDZfivsQ&feature=youtu.be Wheelcaps btw. are from 8157 (system formula), it is matter of taste but I think they look cool. They are easy to take off anyway. Sorry I can't describe the functions very well, because of language. Continues, hope you liked this small sample. Udate, pics (sorry about the quality, camera not good): Update edit: pictures seems to be quite large, sorry, I'm helpless with photobucket and can not resize them smaller.
  2. Great job, nice to see something totally different build up from lego. My mom owns a looming machine and it looks much like this (well a bit bigger though..).
  3. Looks very promising. I see you have included Terraglideâ„¢ and SuperSteerâ„¢ (Unimog ball joint?) from the real t8000 serie. Cant't wait to see the finished model! Keep us posted.
  4. Wow.. what a MOC! It looks very sleek, and I love the functions. As a farm boy I can say that this is very close to the real thing. Great job with the video and pics also.
  5. Not easy, but here goes my votes: 1) 13. Water Strider 2 votes 2) 14. Piper Super Cub Float Plane 2 votes 3) 10. Leviathan 2 votes 4) 8. Steampunk shark submersible 1 vote
  6. Hi, I have own this set from 2008 but never build the B-model. Now I decided to give it a shot and also make it full RC. Specs: 2 x m-motor for propulsion (gearing 12:20) 1 x m-motor for steering 1 x m-motor for motorized chassis PF lights There's also suspension and fake V-8 engine but unfortunately no 4WD. But it's not that bad considering that it is a buggy not an "real" off-roader like A-model. It drives very well, I'm surprised that m-motors gives a relatively good speed and torque. Maybe because I use re-chargeable batteries in PF-batterybox? For me it looks like they are giving more torque than normal batteries. Weight of this car is about 1,5 kg so it's not huge but not tiny either. XL-motor would been better of course but since I don't own one I use m-motors. Pictures and video, 1:10 on the video shows the chassis function. I hope you like this mod. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnBnZ1aubj8
  7. There's so many great and stunning entryes in this competition, but this water strider is my personal favorite. It looks so real, I bet my wife would be scared to see that thing on the kitchen table! Good luck.
  8. That snow runner is great!
  9. Cool MOC, but I'm wondering how long the batteries will last with 2 buggy + 1 XL-motor... However in the video it runs great!
  10. If somebody has bought instructions from mr. Kuipers, and parts for the car from somewhere and is now selling the car as second handed... Then I don't really see where's the problem. Would be different if he/she have taken lots of copies from instructions and selling them. Or is here something I don't understand? E: ok I see now she do not mention that it's NK:s design.. then it is a bit on the grey area.
  11. Nico, I really like your models. This last (latest?) one is no exception. And the fact that you create instructions practically for every model, is very appreciated! Keep up the good work.
  12. Igor, your JD is really awesome. It really looks like a real thing. As an owner of real JD tractor, I think I have a quite good reference. My JD is smaller though, it is 6620 from -06. Great job!
  13. Thank you! It looks better in the video than in the pics. I think it will go to my buy list!
  14. Nice, I like it! It's cool to have remote controlled gears. I see you have used m-motor for drive, it is probably just not strong enough for rest of the gears. After I changed the motor to XL, it was slipping and crunching gears, but afer some tweaking (making connections stronger, finding correct gear setup between motor and axle) it worked fine with all gears.
  15. Making this model run fast with RC was not my target, but able to drive it in any gear, just like you said. I have now added XL-motor, and it drives very well with gears 1-5 (and reverse). I didn't gear it down as far I have understood what gearing means, I have one 16 gear in motor and second 16 gear in axle what goes trought gearbox (center). That said I don't know these things too well, maybe I geared it down accidentally. I'm running the motor with 7,2V, so it seems to be quite slow. The car is definitely not going fast even with 5th gear, but it is good speed for model that size. And like I said, my goal was not to make it actually fast. I'd say its top speed is quite perfect to drive inside. What pleases me most is the motorized gearbox, changing gear from 4th to 5th and back works very well while driving. It doesn't change speed much, but it works! I will try to take good pictures and better video later.
  16. I see, you are saying that gears and axles should be stronger, not motor weaker. But still, what if I gear the motor up a bit for a little less torque? And maybe use lighter wheels instead of the originals, would that help? I'm also using 1,2v rechargeable batteries instead of 1,5v, so I assume that the motor provides less torque that way. I'm going to try it anyway, if I destroy gears and axles so be it... I want to see it myself. And I have spares.
  17. Well I hope that XL-motor won't destroy parts... is it really that powerful? I kind a believe that it will work fine, but let's see. Maybe some gearing is necessary, for build up more speed, since I heard that a XL-motor is much slower than m-motor. After I completed the 8448 I actually added jacks for lifting the rear wheels from the ground, just like Blackbird mentioned, and ran the model like that... But it's quite boring in a long run, it is much more fun to actually drive the car. I was surprised that only one m-motor was enough to move the car in a different speeds, I wasn't expecting that. I tried one m-motor setup with older 8880 also, but basically it didn't move at all. I guess it was because of 4WD, drivetrain on that model is not very smooth, even though it is very cool design. Maybe 4WD was really the problem, why Trekman's model didn't move well. My model is not crunching at all, of course that might be just because of less torque. Drivetrain keeps noise of course while driving, but it's not crunching, grinding, slipping etc.
  18. Kind a wrong topic, but right now I have the same problem. One of the ports is not working. The IR-receivers are not mounted to excavator at the moment, so it is not that "black brick" problem... I'm building other stuff and using recivers for that. There's m-motor attached to both ports, the green light is flashnig while using remote (from both ports) but second m-motor keeps quiet. Really annoying, I don't believe it's broken, since it worked on excavator just fine... EDIT: I changed the motors vice versa and now it works, both ports... Interesting!
  19. I see... Well I'm not surprised then, such a popular site. I'll wait...
  20. Every other websites are opening just fine, this is the only one (where I surf daily) that just wont open. But the problem is probably somewhere in my computer/connections... Need to find out.
  21. Is Technicopedia under construction, it seems that it can not be open at the moment, or actually can not do it in few days? http://www.technicopedia.com/ It gives 403: "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request". Any information about this?
  22. 8043 is amazingly solid. It has a feel of quality in a very pleasant way. It doesn't flex and it has no empty space in the body, which is very satisfying. It is also very well balanced (between boom and the body). And the gearbox is of course quite stunning. I came back from my dark ages with 8043, and that was definitely a good choice. No regrets. :)
  23. It sure will, thanks! I need them all to my collection... Nice MOG btw.
  24. Could someone be so nice and take a picture of 8110, 8466 and 8458 for a size comparison? I know that here is people who owns all three sets... I would love to see these models side by side!
