    Brickshelf: New email address

From what I know, the whole Brickshelf was run by one ( 1 ) person , I don't know how it's run now. I think that the whole Brickshelf on/off stuff is caused by the servers it's run on... my info is sketchy at best. I think that's the reason why a lot of people are using the Flickr pages . 2. I build them and then break them down, keeping the MF's in a display box. I don't think the sets are all that, so usealy the're gone withing 24 hours in bins or sorted, no real plan what to do with them. I build my own MOC's, so they're a welcome addition to my parts collection. I can't recall any set's I've got just for keeping them , usealy I've got just one set of each, in some cases I've got mutiple ( army builder) . gtrz Saint

  6. I think LEGO did this a couple of years ago... Perhaps some one smarter can find it for you. I think the basic Idea is getting a board , a plate and key chains with some 2x4 bricks. Cut the board ( I guess that MDF will do ) the same size as the desired plate , and before you use some kind of industrial glue ( I would try Bison ) , you make some holes for the screws with a small reces for the head. Now you have a plate , with screw hole's , but sadly no hole in the plate, well, you can pry a small hole from the back, and place a 2x2 stone on top, and with some kind of very very sharp knife , edge out the 2x2. Remove the 2x2, Glue the plate and the board together, and voilá, ( or é presto ) you have a keyholder . Add some extra plates along the edge and over it, creating a frame, and some 4x4 plates over the screwholes . The only thing against it is the clutch power ( hmmmm sounds familiar who is that ?? ) of the plate and the 2x4 so a 2x4 will wear out faster than the plate, because of the 2x4 being all over the place. Just my 2 cents on that idea, I hope this helps a bit . grtz Saint

Yoda Chronicles on DVD in US

Interesting ! I saw the booklet of the Yoda chronicles here in the Netherlands on Bol.com in pre-order, with a special minifig ( I guess its Yek , or who ever the guy is ) , no sign on the DVD yet.
  8. sets "wise" we're better off here in Breda, there is a store here that sells them way cheaper then LEGO. ( or any shops here in the Netherlands ) Never the less, The store in Belgium will have a lot of customers for the P-A-B. Let's hope the assortment will be good !!
  9. I was suprised !!! This news is like getting the best X-mass present ever !! Only 3/4 hours drive from my house, there will be......................... a LEGOSTORE !!!! Just for the P-A-B wall , the drive is worth it !! special deals ... can't wait !! I do agree with Jeroenaa, a store in the Netherlands is wayyyyyyyy past due... I'm mildly optimistic for future stores !!! grtz Saint
  10. € 2500 in LL Germany ... wooooooow !! I would buy loose bricks by the number !! Not forgetting the discount tent in the corner !! Just like Jfbat, I found Billund too expensive ! and the last time I was in LL germany I could buy for 90€ the kilo, taking the best of the best, you can take a lot of LEGO home with you. Sadly , I'm not in a position to take € 2500 towards Germany, but if I could, I just would buy loose lego, no sets, those are cheaper right here in Breda. grtz Saint
  11. Hm... I almost never find time to build, so I decided to take it !! I build the models at work, and MOC about at home, I'm working on a larger than usual model, so that takes a lot of time planning and moc-up building., Now after 1 month of building, I finished the basic wheel design, only taking a half hour every day or so. Slow, but steady i'm getting there !!

Things non-AFOLs say WAY too often

So that was your opinion about LEGO sets, now back to the brighter side of LEGO... what did you hear non-AFOLS say ??? Sorry guys, I'm not a mod, but I think this is a very funny topic, and not a place to moan about the limits of a specific line.. kids wil be kids, and will always find a way to play, even if the set "dictates" that it should be done like this or that... What kind of AFOL are you?

What kind of AFOL are you? Are you a member of a LUG? Yes I'm a Member of BeLug for a few years now. Are you actively participating in your LUG? yes. If yes, what do you do (e.g. helping out during events, making displays, etc.)? We ( a friend of mine try to go once a year ) help out, build MOC's and stuff ( we are miles apart in building , I build Star Wars , he does Technic ) . We help setting up and cleaning afterwards, as should be. So any offer made is welcome, butt events wise, there is not a lot to do in The Netherlands, I will not !! go to LEGOWORLD because of the high intensety ( meaning it's very , very tyresome and the benefits arn't the trubble ) and shitty organisation in the past . I like small , personal events were I can take the time to meet and learn about other builders and have fun , instead of being seen like an extension for a commercial feast . Would you consider supporting more actively the online AFOL community (e.g. Eurobricks) as moderator, regulator (indexing, ...), making set reviews, etc. Well... yes and no, I've been a moderator before and I know how hard it can be. I only contribute in topics I can relate to , or, I think it's funny. I don't do much reviews, because a lack of funding, ( see answer of Swissbrick ) I build MOC's and do want to display them here . So I keep in the background. If the answer is yes, where do you possibly see yourself contributing? With my MOC's

    How many minifigures?

Well, In a historic point of view I would say, the more the merry !! I see stuff around that I think : "Well, this could use a couple more figs ... just add 200 more and you're set !! " grtz Saint
  19. don't ask what LEGO can do for you, but what you can do with LEGO

It only took 8 or 9 years

Welcome to this group José !! Always nice to meet an AFOL Be proud to be a member of a select group of people that believe in the power of the Brick !! I strongly believe that whatever you do, keeping your head high and your chin up works, take pride in what you do , whatever it is!! ( exept megablock-guys and playmobile dudes, thay should stay in a very, very dark corner ) Be the best AFOL you can be, don't ask what LEGO can do for you, but what you can do with LEGO , join the Brick side !! Being more serious, I saw your post in another topic about what people say about LEGO ! I can assure you that many , many people rediscover the brick as a hobby, so don't be scared to ask , comment or just planly share something here , I for one, want to see something of your work in the future !!! grtz Saint

Things non-AFOLs say WAY too often

Hahaha nice story CustomJoe_MD !! Personaly , I did just the opposite !! Remember that little magazine about AFOL'S ??? Me ! Me ! Me ! It's all for me !!!!! I never said it was for a cousin , member of the family or whatnot... I build with LEGO , get used to it ! If shop employees put up a attitude, I'll never shop there again ! ( That was pre- digital era ) Now shops dread me !! I'll go for the maximum discount whenever I can !! If I can get a discount in 1 store , why not in this store ??? If they don't like it, too bad !! But getting back to subject , I sometimes wear a LEGO shirt, and get mixed responses , young kids call me " mister LEGO" and adults give me a strange look , but refrain from any comment grtz Saint

Things non-AFOLs say WAY too often

"Where can I buy this?" - very popular question when looking at moc modulars  This made me smile and remember something ! At LegoWorld 2006 I was attending with a 2 mtr ship , the Blacktronia , and we overheared 2 little kids speaking to eachother " I'm going to get this for my xmass !! and you're not !! I was laughing so hard.... That beast took me the better part of a year to build ( and half an hour too detroy )

Things non-AFOLs say WAY too often

Something I can relate to is : Legos .... that drives me crazy. That someone says that he ( or she ) gave them away .... ... but heck !! Someone gave them to me once !! It was mostly beaten up , but I still got them !! My wife doesn't say to me that I have enough, she just tempers my enthousiasm a bit . Lucky me The only other thing is when people see I build with LEGO, they say : Owh, you play with LEGO ( S ) ?? I just correct them and show them some models of mine, or just give them my Brickshelf.... Grtz Saint
  24. Having too much LEGO doesn't make building MOC's difficult for me, having no room to store everything did make it more difficult. Now having a dedicated room to store my LEGO has inproved everything ( not that it's all that, in fact 80 % in for storage, and 20 % is for MOC display ) too a certain degree. Well, I'm sorting red by red, colour by colour, and parting out only the stuff I build with right now, and still hope to inprove as I go along. Yeaaaaa not critical at all !! grtz Saint
