  1. I would advice Revell spraycans. Just before putting it on, sand it up ever so lightly with the finest sandpaper there is...Perhaps wet sandpaper is best. Aply 2 or 3 coats, and I think you got the best result. Like said above, just try it on something else before you do an airtank. just don't forget to plug the airholes grtz Saint
  2. Well.... this week we have some workman over, because of an overhaul done to the bathroom... I secured the room with plastic foil and tape, and innocent me, thought it was allright.... untill 2 days in, the plumber ( not Joe ) came in an had to be in my room..... ( 7 o'clock in the morning, fresh out of bed... not the best time to give me bad news ) .. after a heated discussion, I had to pull an aera free... and tape the plastic back after he was done.... Not very nice .... but it's done... so they don't have to visit the room anymore... My neighbour from 1 door over was even more crossed than me... he had to break down 1/3 of this model train track because of the same problem.... So in short, you can ban everyone from your room... but when push comes to shove.... ain't nothig you can do about it. grtz Saint
  3. Very nicely done ! ... 1 little bit of critic : If you menatly join the arch halves, they don't match up.. Given the fact you use a monorail piece , I think you should have used a complete arch to set the base. Having said that, Great !!! grtz Saint

What Lego-related thing did you do today?

Yesterday I went to the biggest rummage sale in the area. Found a lot of cheap LEGO and Duplo ( for my grandkid ) and was happy to find a lot of unsorted tan for a small price. My mind was blown !! Took me the better part of the evening to sort everything and put it all in place ! This was the best rummage sale ina long time ! grtz Saint
  5. That's why we took her out back and shot her !! Okay, enough fun !! My room is my responibility , so I alone clean it and goes into the room. My GF on ocasion. I build and do all sort of stuff in that room , so she says that I should keep it clean, and she is right !! If I break something, I cannot blame anybody but myself. Sometimes we get visitors and I show them my room, but they know better than to toutch anything in my room ! grtz Saint
  6. We sold our kids !! They were repeat offenders, and after a short debate, we sold them to a guy wielding the Slave I . We even went as far that we put up a moat around the house , made it earthquake proof, and in case of a flood, we have everything in a saferoom that can resist floods up to 10 meters
  7. Thumbs up !! In the catogory : Useless machine, but let us do it anyway ! A++++ I think you're a little bit crazy in the good sense !!! Grtz Saint ( still laughing my megablocks off )

    Quality control slipping?

For years now.... sadly .. even discoloration in parts ( same part in a set ) , .. never had a instruction mishap though . Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's getting worse.. For LEGO it's cheaper to replace the parts trough customer service aparently .. I guess for every 10 parts they do wrong they replace about 5 parts, so the margin of error keeps small... The only way to change this is to start complaining about jut about everything everytime . grtz Saint

    Laat-I Project 2013-14

!!!!! WARNING !!! This post uses Illigal connections, real actual LEGO was harmed in the proces and even a few parts were glued !!!!!!! Well , as the title does suggest, here is my LAAT-I project. About half a years worth of planning building , replanning and rebuilding. I build this one specialy for the Brickmania shows for my Lug , Belug . Once a year a mate and I show our stuff there at a meeting. But I stray from the subject : my LAAT-I ( Low Altitude Assault Transport - Infantry ) For starters I took the famous 7676 and the newer 75021, although I had the idea for the canopy's slighter faster than LEGO did, but I'll give them the credit for looking into my mind . Starting at the bottom I used some SNOT technique to get the slopes right side under , did some illigal technique for getting the right kind of inward degree. ( I used a 1x6 and a 1x8 , connected them with 2 1x6 plates and reversed them , getting them to stick was a bit of a problem, but fairly simple in the end ) The nose was done by cutting 2 pieces of 1x1's with a round thing on them, using only the rings ( they're a plate thick, so that's just great ) I found the solution for not getting enough friction, combined with a 1x1 with 1 stud on the side, they work great ! ( Almost done with dismembering LEGO guys ) Further Up the nose I used a few arch bricks to get a more sloped front, and I glued a 1x1 brick and plate together ( studs out ) just to get the right kind of reinforcement and overall sleekness ( I tried them without, doing that inside, but that was to bulky and troublesome ) The whole of the cockpit section is 1 big illusion , it's hinged at the top, and the model was filled up for the gaps , getting a great feel of that sleek, sharp looking model. Almost done, bubble turrets , see it ? Like it ?? great, they were the least of the problems, just 1 keeps popping up : the bubble isn't a bubble, it takes the form of an egg after a while, so pressing them back into shape is a constant trubble .... oh well small price to pay for so much awsomeness !!! . Wing turrets were sized down, tried to get as much a bubble feel , not perfect , but better than putting a Clone Trooper on a wing !! As you can see the doors do not open in any way, I wanted the doors to be sleek and slender, and to have the slots in the door... and that takes me to the last LEGO-mutilation of this model , I took 2 tiles 2x4 , stuck them together, ( actualy that took me about 3 days , gluing, filling cutting ) cut them to size, and placed them on the model. Well , without further adoe Here is the set on Flickr, Feel free to give me feedback , I know I'm not perfect My thanks go out to my mate Junkstylegio for taking the effort of making the photo's. Ohw, just for the heck of it, I've build 8 of these suckers !! right now there's 7 in storage, waiting to be shot ! ( not so litaral )

    Laat-I Project 2013-14

Thanks ! I did the Cannon / wing section like thise because I had to little white slopes, no more gray's after building 7 of them and I only had 2 black one's left. The Markings are different on all of them , this one represents the flag of Brabant ( that is the provence I live in ) . Strangly , I hated the lime green section, and was thinking about doing one in dark red or another color, just no Lime green. I'm still working on getting the gap out of the cannonsection , but that is a little bit harder than I thought . Grtz Saint

    LEGO Plan for 2014

Just a quick update : Finished my first project, posting this later this week . Sorting is stll a problem I finished with more sorting than I planned to... I found that sweeping into little bins doesn't work when you're working on a project . Now I have too search trough a lot more wreckage !! Grtz Saint

  20. Just under the C -sign ( copyright ) is a few chinese ? markings and and name barly visible . Right hand corner. And looking at the bags, it's a rippoff !! , I would give it a thumbs up for fooling a builder , I even had too look twice. After a search of the good old google : Decoo Educational Kids building Blocks 3333 DIY 1:10 Famous Racing Car 1322PCS. That's it... fun too see a little kid withh this set in his hands !! grtz Saint

[WIP] Kashyyyk how to get started

Lego bonsai tree by Makoto Azuma . Enter this in Google images, and you get a few very interesting foto's . When I look at the Kashyyyk trees, I get a feeling of a supersized Bonsai tree, so I entered Bonsai and lego, and it came up with this. grtz Saint

[WIP] Kashyyyk how to get started

I had to think about my answer a while before getting to posting something , but here it goes : I guess that the problem most builders have is two-fold , Or they can't build nice SW-vehickles, OR they suck at building a landscape. For a fact , I suck at building landscape. So I try to get a lot of foliage on my landscape, so you cant see much ground. I've done 2 ( local ) shows now, and have gone from 6 baseplates to 12 with landscape, and plannng a bit more for the next show in November You have to think a lot of things through , and think them over , and when push comes to shove, have to improvise a lot on site when displaying your stuff. If you're going to display on shows, you take a whole other look towards building your landscape, if you do it souly at home, you can take more effort in building a larger thing. Let us take a moment to reflect on the scene with the Kassyyyk battle, take some more info from wikipedia, and get some more info from the shady third party , like books where Kassyyyk played a part . They all have 1 thing incommen : Holy crap ! those are BIG trees ! The Clone Turbo Tanks are BIG ! The whole of the scene's are very impressive and very overwhelming . There is no real way to get anything to scale, and that is the problem right there. If you don't do the vehickles to scale like LEGO , you don't have to do a lot of ground, but concidering the amount of vehickles , you should try to realise a baseplate 42x42 per larger vehickle, and just use 1 baseplate 32x32 for 1 tree. ( or something along those lines ) You should concider a lot of things : * weight of the landscape * number of trees * number of vehickles * number of minifigs * the size of the landscape And I guess I'm overlooking a lot of things, even with little experience I've got, I tend to forget about a lot of things, but I get better everytime ! Fact remains, you have to stock up on a lot of things : Plant leaves, browns and greens, tan and dark tan, bricks and plates alike, and those will not come cheap !! Bricklinking a lot of plant leaves will set you back a lot of money, I will not go into specific's for the rest You should try entering a bunch into Bricklink yourself, and take your own desisions . For a fact , your lucky brake is the kassyyk battlepack , 4 glorius clones and some extra's !! Getting them as cheap as possible is best, having a lot of the vehickles is also a plus , so you can really get into the landscape building. I cannot make your desicions, you should trust your own imagination and get building. Here a little example for you and others to enjoy : http://www.flickr.co...r5R9D ( let's hope it works ) and happy building !! ( If someone get me a proper link to the picture, I'm a happy camper ) Grtz Saint
