Anyone got any hints re making / designing capes? Including what materials to use please?

I’m excited for the tree house! I’m hoping that the apartment building has at least five apartments so that you can fit them out for each of the main five, or that it has a plethora of additional characters to populate heartlake the houseboat sounds interesting- depending on the colour scheme. I’m sick of getting bits of the dolphin cruiser in bulk buys- and I wasn’t interested in a party boat. If it has a real live in feel, it could be awesome

Surfer beachfront is on Lego com - £60 in the UK. Much more reasonable than I thought it was going to be! Looking at the pictures of the horseback riding centre - how can they imply that the minidolls are that articulated? They simply can't do that with their legs surely?

Really interested in the official pics for this one. The blur looks vaguely interesting, and I love that it has minidolls and not figs. But yet to understand what kind of build / parts it's going to bring us. I think it MIGHT have a couple of recolours that look awesome to me. But it realise is hard to tell. Would be nice to know official date for photos so I could plan my summer purchases accordingly (but aware this is why Lego, most likely, like to stagger them!)

Exactly. Ten years down the line can we please stop questioning if Lego was doing ‘something bad’ by catering to 50% of its potential market share? So what if mini dolls are more appealing to girls than mini figs? And.... if Lego wants to sell to girls, better to include minidolls then. They are 50% of the market, and they’re a zillion times better than any of the competition on the same scale.

Very little of the 1st June releases are on the store yet. Only Vidiyo and Harry Potter as far as I can think. There is a lot more coming out, but they haven't put it up yet

Exactly. I am an adult. I now own a range of sets. But the FIRST one I bought "just for me" was a Lego Friends set.....

They did a lot of market research to come to that opinion, and the sales figures certainly bore it out. 10 years later for Friends (near enough), I think we can assume the mini doll was a successful adaptation of "the system" to open up the market for them to children who weren't building with them before. They did do cross over in The LEGO Movie 2 theme, which is something I personally loved. If they released City sets with mini figs and mini dolls in them, though, I think the press would hound them. They wouldn't try it for Friends (hope!) as there is clearly a huge, and equally dedicated market at this point.

I think anything that entices children to play with such a good toy as Lego is a great thing!

Agree. The Bonsai tree felt like a celebration of "Lego" with the pink frogs. And the parts of the flower bouquet were tremendous. This feels low key by comparison.

Ah yes- true. But undoubtedly Ninjago e.g has a certain target market in mind. The famous Lego group target of the 5-9 year old boy.

This is amazing! I love the detail level, including the destruction of the walls and the storytelling with the Minifigures

I do think it's a shame that the temple isn't one cohesive whole. I liked the idea when I heard of the title, but it's nothing like what I expected based on some of the previous Ninjago buildings. Just seems to be a missed opportunity to create something spectacular in a different setting.

The leaks look interesting! I hadn't realised they had actually leaked ages ago. The dots parts pack (Creative Box?) for 20 USD (?) looks great. I also like the Summer Vibes set with the various different builds. Combining the two will be ideal, allowing you to come up with more varied designs - as I've found that just using the parts in the pack can limit you. Particularly happy to see a variety of colours of square tiles! The extra dots having so many circles has been frustrating, as it can be restricting You really need a mixture of all the relevant parts, and I find Dots a great TV/ Evening build. Unlike when I'm building a MOC, which ends up with parts everywhere, I get the creative feeling, but with a very nicely containable level of mess! So it's important to me that I don't end up pulling out loads of old parts and sets to allow me to achieve the effect I want, as actually that ends up creating me more mess to sort.

Agree, though not as enticing as the jungle sets from last year. I loved the waterfalls in the Alpaca mountain and the tiger rescue set. Though I appreciate we've had more of those with the Flower Fruit Mountain from Monkiekid. Campervan looked more interesting when I saw the arial shot.

I'm hoping to work out the best way to get pretty much all the animals! Those monkeys are amazing, and might mean I have to rebuild Pirates of Barracuda Bay just so that they join in on the reunion!

I'm keen to know the price point for a lot of the sets that have leaked over the past few days - Friends (UK prices) and Disney -as the price will make a huge difference to me. Disney Raya I got as it seemed to be giving me something new - but I can't imagine I would want to try and justify Belle's castle at the price it's likely to be. It really doesn't look that different to the 4+ one that is currently on the market. With the D2C being a frozen castle it feels a bit like we've been inundated with the same basic design (they all look pretty similar.... just different levels of detail.) There are plenty more varied stories available that they could tap into. The Ideas set idea of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves being an example. Or what about Maleficent? Ragana's magic shadow castle from the elves still gets crazy money on the after market - because it's a gothic joy. Why can't we have sets that go further into the "Princess universe"? They do it for the boys sets for the same age group. I am actively a mini-doll fan over minifigs (though I do like both) so keen to see if that gives us more characters rather than another Anna and Elsa. I'd hope that as the fans of Friends etc age Lego might see a market in detailed builds that appeal to the female market, and which include mini-dolls, which were such a big part of the lines success in opening up the market for them. Or Ariel rescuing Eric from the shipwreck, for example!
