    Dream Lego Licensed Themes

Would love to see some Wallace & Gromit sets. If they can produce sets on the older films, there's plenty of content. The orange rocket to the moon, the wrong trousers, the Feathers McGraw chase scene... rife with opportunities Aardman recently partnered with build your own kits and won awards for their papercraft models, I'm going to put my tinfoil hat on and say it seems like a no brainer for LEGO and Aardman to work together.

    Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Thanks for the replies, @Seaber, @mark1991t and @Salix I can deal with different coloured legs hands etc I'll just swap them out. Good to know the torsos are the same more or less. I was getting really confused because I have the quidditch Cedric that's covered in the books, I didn't clock that BrickLink lists books seperately.. That's a lot of confusion cleared up now.

    Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Random question but does anyone know, which Quidditch torsos are consistent with each other? Basically I just want to know if the Quidditch Trunk torsos are consistent with the ones released in sets like CMF 1, Diagon Alley, the Cho Chang polybag. Reason being is I quite like that the Quidditch Trunk minifigs have collars, but the torsos look brighter based on the BrickLink images? I know that the capes are different but no clue on the torsos. I'd hate to start my Quidditch team builds again, but it will bug me if they're not consistent. Don't get me started on the sweaters, they're just as cool but I don't need to double up!

    Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Checkout was a bit of a mess this morning had to refresh several times just to see my basket and then pay but got there in the end... I've ordered the castle and grounds as I want a nice display set and as I'm still on the fence with Gringotts due to the price *but* happy to have got both GWPs, which, if I got Gringotts, I'd want the matching GWP

I'd rather in the style of Diagon Alley. I'm surprised we haven't got a set with the opening brick wall onto Diagon Alley tbh. I think we got a mini version in an advent calendar but it seems like a feature that would be very easy to market.

    Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Hmm I'm in two minds. I really like it but I do think it's just astronomically expensive. I'm not too fussed about the interiors since I'm mainly displaying it for the exterior POV, I think it's going to look better with Gringotts not in a linear line with the rest of the shops but then the question is how do you display it because you're going to need a large amount of space to have a display that fans out diagonally from either side of the bank. The sticker being "Gringot ts Bank" is really poor for a set this expensive, I don't want to nitpick but at this price I'm going to nitpick. Things like that shouldn't be an issue. I wonder how difficult it is to cut a sticker down using a sharp tool and retaining a clean edge. The minifigure selection is kind of OK it's about what you'd expect... What we have got feels accurate and appropriate to the set which is 100% for the best. I think the overall shape of the bank with the caves underneath is excellent though, clearly a lot of thought went into the design of this set and the silhouette, it is really epic. Like I can't really fault the set other than the sticker placement but the price just really really really stings. So I'm sure that the Lego YouTubers who don't pay for their sets will put videos up of this set faster than we can say "Mischief Managed" and I think seeing it in video form is going to help me make my final decision. I'm just not sure the pictures are telling a complete story in terms of how delicate the set is, how it looks in proportion to the other sets, how displayable it is with Diagon Alley etc. I'm still on the fence, pretty much what I hoped it would be with a few minor niggles, and one major niggle being the price.

Friendly reminder that the LEGO Harry Potter Character Encyclopedia is releasing on Thursday with the Rita Skeeter minifigure.

    Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Ooh finally caught up - been a bit off the ball this past year having moved and everything. Due to the length of this theme I've had to dial back on buying every set and instead just making sure I at least get the minifigures and any standout sets - last year for me it was Shrieking Shack and Grimmauld Place only. I have to say that none of the sets this year pass the new bar for me, I do like the interesting ways the theme is going in i.e. Expecto Patronum. Dobby looks a bit awkward but I appreciate the attempt. Battle of Hogwarts - finally! Sadly it doesn't live up to my hopes for that set and I got sick of the hogwarts sets around the turn of the new design. Too much tan :P Lots of great new minifigs however so that's a plus. Can anyone confirm if the new Quidditch minifigs are a) using the same design as the pre-existing minifigs - they look the same but some small things may have changed? and b) whether the cloth capes are the same or if these are updated shape etc. I'm really happy that I can affordably finish my Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw teams now.

    Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I hope the person on here who wants a UCS Dobby Sock is somewhat happy with these rumours I've been away for a while now, moving home etc has kind of taken up my spare time. I've largely diverged into just collecting minifigs now due to having less space, plus the castle sets aren't really doing it for me. So I've had to be strict on myself and say no to every set. Although I have bought and have on display the Shrieking Shack and Grimmauld Place from last year. Also got the Ministry but a little bit disappointed with the scope of it. If I had the space and money I'd buy another Ministry and pad it out. Gringotts has me intrigued. I hope hope hope it's in scale with Diagon Alley, and can at least be retrofitted easily to fit the style. The rest I'm tentatively waiting to see what they look like. Lots of potential for new minifigs!

    Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

I'd rather have DH Golden Trio over Goyle if that's what it comes down to :P I hope they put Draco in his suit in the RoR set, so I don't have to pay astronomical prices for it due to it being exclusive to the D2C. Overall this wave seems like a "Bricklink the minifigures" job, unless the sets really wow as setpieces. Had to turn my love for this theme toward the minifigures, I just don't have room for every set going sadly and the Hogwarts modular hasn't beaten the 2018-2020 range for me. Really curious to see how these banner sets shape up. Don't want to jump to conclusions just yet as I found the little books to be surprisingly fun mini builds and easy to display. The Black Lake is the most intriguing to me, I do hope it delivers. Shark!Krum would be fantastic.

For me, at that pricepoint, LEGO can jog on. Think this seems to be a popular opinion. The train itself is really stunning, I can't deny that. Can't really pick fault with it other than wishing it had a couple more carriages. Don't need any more variations of Harry in a jacket, Lupin is cool, the new Ron's are ok. The epilogue is burned from my memory, so the minifigs don't really mean much to me. To see duplicate minifigs in a set this expensive is a bit of a letdown though, but overall makes the decision to pass on the set easier (and tbh what can LEGO do when they've produced so many of the trio's looks throughout the films). Also, really cringing at the forced diversity thrown in as nameless characters, when you could have had Lee Jordan with a tarantula as a nice nod to the books, or Blaise Zabini chilling with Draco. I'm sure lots of young kids are stoked to see themselves represented as "Ravenclaw Student" and "Hufflepuff Student" I know HP isn't the most diverse franchise, but there are named characters that would actually fit in this set, so it's a confusing decision LEGO have made. Instead of the epilogue minifigs, I would have added Lavender Brown, suited Lord Voldemort on the platform, Blaise and Pansy, and Mrs Weasley and Ginny from Philosopher's Stone.

This is a brilliant idea. I really hope they do this actually. I wouldn't even be mad at the inevitable Harry/Draco/Cedric/Cho figures we'd get if it meant more accessibly uniforms and Quidditch bits and pieces.

I am thinking a red-haired hair piece might fit Toby better. Going to look for a glum facial expression piece too. For Meredith I am thinking at least a new torso; Amy Farrah Fowlers might work for me. It is Flitwicks hairpiece but I can't tell if it's a shade lighter!

Same to be honest the only set I am curious to see how it looks, is Gringotts! And if they ever decided to do the common rooms justice that would be rad. My wishlist is just minifigures now; Bill Weasley and Rita Skeeter being the standouts now.

I have got to say I'm chuffed they've given us the (almost) full cast - and a really fanservicey build with tons of easter eggs. I am shocked they are giving us 15 minifigs for around £100! Definite buy for me Andy and Erin should be easy enough to MOC anyway, and I may try and find a different torso for Ryan to differentiate him from Jim. Just to add some nice touches :)

Excellent MOC! Did you base the shape off the Library in PS-CoS? Love that asymmetrical design you've implemented.

I went for 12 Grimmauld Place and the Flying Lesson which I missed out on last year. The must haves for me now are the Shrieking Shack and the Ministry of Magic. Will be handpicking bits I want from the castle expansions via BrickLink

    Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

It's Amazon Prime Day at least in the UK. Loads of LEGO discounts, Divination Moments is down to ~£16, Hospital Wing down to £30 and the trunk set is down to £37. Some other sets are also a tad cheaper than normal ie DADA Moments is £20, but not technically part of 'Prime Day'. The Hospital Wing... although I don't like the set, to get the parts I want would cost me around £22 on BrickLink so thinking for £30 I might aswell get the full thing. Definitely going to get the Divination set I think.

Shell Cottage with a little Dobby grave... I don't think I could handle it! Godric's Hollow is a little bit dark but then it could also focus around a brickbuilt Nagini and blasting wall feature and they could tone down the body horror aspects. The Tent and the Lake would be a great set, you could cram so much detail into that set (would at least expect beds, a radio, a lamp, Hermione's bag, the Sword of Gryffindor and the Silver Doe). Tired ground but once again; Gringotts with the dragon is another iconic scene they could cover (I think this is just a matter of time honestly, I imagine LEGO know this set will sell and are keeping it close to their chest). They could easily go crazy with this and chuck in vaults and all sorts. Cover Hogsmeade with a Hogs Head set perhaps, where Ariana's portrait can swing out and reveal a little tunnel or something? Not sure to be honest, could easily see this being relegated to GWP because the Hogs Head is a bit dull as a set on its own. In terms of the school there's plenty to work with here; the Courtyard Duel, the Covered Bridge (Neville & Seamus vs Scabior and co, throw in a collapsing bridge feature), a Fiendfyre set (buildable fire dragon would be cool), there's also the Battlements which they could incorporate into a larger Hogwarts set too. Not to mention the amount of cool creatures like the trolls and spiders they could make. Speaking of trolls, we haven't had the PS troll set in this iteration of the theme. Wonder if they'll treat us to that sometime next year

I had the same reservations. I think the mechanism is clearly the selling point, I remember loads of speculation on 12 Grimmauld Place on this forum and how much detail you could cram in if given the room. I still think a modular or DA style build would have been just as interesting. I am still gonna get it because as a display piece it will look cool. Just a wee bit disappointed with the interiors.

    Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

The more I look at the GWP the more I love it. I think could actually be justifiable as a set, blows last years underwhelming Gryffindor dorm out of the water. If I had the talent I'd do a MOC in the style of the Friends/Seinfeld sets, where the main room is the Gryffindor Common Room with the Fat Lady attached as a doorway. Complete with couches, armchairs, fireplace, Sirius' head in the fire, tapestry, rug, tables, Gryffindor quidditch stuff, noticeboard, a big Christmas tree perhaps. Probably the #1 on my wishlist for now that we're ticking off the big hitters.

It is modular, I saw it on instagram. Still, I like that it works as a standalone piece too. It feels complete in itself!

    Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

I am sure that I read it is for Sirius Black in a non-canon look? I might have my wires crossed. And it doesn't fit the Office at all, most of the characters will likely be in office or warehouse gear. The staircase is brilliant, glad I waited on buying sets. I have all the choice of everything that has released so far this year as well as the Flying Lesson from last year, feeling hopeful that I can fill up a basket of in stock sets.
