I agree. EB forums are nostalgic for me. Too many memories here to replace it with something new.

[MOC] Spanish Frigate "Phama"
Admiral Bejaune replied to boeing_787_8_dreamliner's topic in Pirate MOCs
Nice frigate. Good lines, and very Spanish color scheme. The way you extended the new anchor molds and made them appear larger is great. I also like the white plates in the lattice pieces amidship to represent hammocks. Nice touch. -
[MOC] "Big Orra" by SuperSick - Ship - BSB Upgrade
Admiral Bejaune replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
Nice ship. Classic colors. I love a ship with an interior. I like the technique on the curve on the bow. Oh she's not a brig but more of a barque. -
I gotta bump this because somehow I missed it. I gotta say this is one of my favorite ships built. Congrats to Legostone in building her, and Sebeus I on the mods. Ill say it again, one of the best I have seen. Cheers!

84d Well here she is, finally complete. She is a French 64 gun ship of the line, and is Admiral Bejaune's flagship for the time being. Id like to thank Captain Green Hair, for his help and techniques, and everyone else who gave me their thoughts (Zuloo, Bonaparte). So here she is Hope you enjoyed it! Want any more pics? Just make a suggestion, and Ill post them when I can. -Admiral Béjaune.

Hate to bump.... But bump... Sang Royale has been rebuild, better than before... More realistic, better lines, but still has her classic look. Its been many years since I have posted, but I am back and have built a ton of ships that I will be posting. I just got jaded with the website. Hopefully I can get a few of my friends back to posting mocs like the "good ole days" of the early 2000's. New pics of the update soon. Cheers B

Pirates of the Carribean 5 Sets Discussion
Admiral Bejaune replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
The silent Mary is heavily based on the French ship La Couronne of 1636. Here is a website about the ship. http://www.historicships.com/TALLSHIPS/Corel/La Couronne SM17/La Couronne SM17.htm You can also google image search "La Couronne ship" and see some great models of it. -
General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Admiral Bejaune replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
I wish this topic would go cold until someone posted with official pictures!! I'm tired of seeing a post and it not showing anything! Kind of a hypocritical post for me! -

94 gun, somewhat-to-scale ship of the line. LDD MOC.
Admiral Bejaune replied to Roller's topic in Pirate MOCs
No offense but is this suppose to be a fantasy style ship or a historically accurate ship? If it is suppose to be a historically accurate ship then I would say you need to do more research on the subject. It looks more like a steampunk airship to me than a ship of the line. -
[ESL] Brig El Matador
Admiral Bejaune replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It's so good to see a new ship from you. And of course it doesn't disappoint. The sails are perfect in color and shape and the skin color strake is perfect. It's always great seeing a build from a master builder and a great friend. Long live the CGH technique!- 16 replies

[OL-FB4] The Tigre arrives
Admiral Bejaune replied to Franco Clarke's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The paint back then was actually very good. It was lead based, which was bad. But salt water absolutely destroys everything. I own and have owned several ocean boats and I am constantly cleaning, replacing and repainting certain things onboard that salt water has ruined. But that is the nature of the beast that is the ocean! -
[OL-FB4] The Tigre arrives
Admiral Bejaune replied to Franco Clarke's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
You can't go wrong with the white, black, blue, yellow with red gunport color scheme! I like how when the ship of the line arrived it was in a deteriorated state. Many ship of the lines sat in port and were rarely used in peace time as they were expensive to man and operate. So sometimes they needed refits and complete overhauls before they were seaworthy again. If you read the accounts of the HMS Bellona, you would learn that after a cruise, Her paint had almost completely washed away, and her poop deck had almost been completely swept away by the seas. Very cool story to have a worn ship and not a newly built ship! -
[ESL-FB5] Class 5T Heart of Eslandia
Admiral Bejaune replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Bregir I'm not sure if you understand why I mentioned the vasa. I was using it as an example of the curvature of the ships hull (sheer) vs the curvature of the gunports. I know vasa was a failed ship. If it had been 5 ft wider it would have changed the course of history. But it was only used as an example for early ship design, being an easy source for people to google, research etc. -
[ESL-FB5] Class 5T Heart of Eslandia
Admiral Bejaune replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
You are correct about the hull curvature vs the gun port orientation. Most people fail to realize that the gunports do not follow the hull curvature exactly. Some ships had completely flat decks compared to their horizontal curve. While some ships gunports curve up slightly as they go fore and aft, but it did not exactly follow the sheer of the ship. And as weird as it sounds the gunports usually curved upwards more towards the bow rather than the stern. One reason. It's called seaworthiness. Now some older ships, example the Vasa, had very curved decks and so the ports almost followed the sheer exactly. But vasa came along at the start of the age of sail. -
I think everyone is 6 months behind here.... Joking aside, the beta on this game was amazing. I can't wait until they release the full game. Maybe they have and I'm the one behind!

Custom sails (more realistic colors)?
Admiral Bejaune replied to Southwest Chief's topic in LEGO Pirates
Haha ok. But I can assure you that they will not smell like coffee n tea for very long. Especially if you follow my step by step! -
Custom sails (more realistic colors)?
Admiral Bejaune replied to Southwest Chief's topic in LEGO Pirates
The sails did smell like coffee at first. But the next step in the process eliminates that smell. I have not explained everything in detail. So I will start from step one. 1. Buy thin fabric that is not transparent. I get mine at Walmart in the textile section. I buy about 6ft of fabric. 2. I use instant coffee and tea. Usually an entire box of both (depends on how dark you want them. ) pour the coffee and tea into a bucket and cram the fabric into it. Leave for 3 days but check on it to make sure it's all saturated in liquid . 3. Air dry in the sun. It will give it a more weathered look. 4. Buy wallpaper glue and paint both sides (this might take two days if you let one side dry before you paint the other) the glue makes the fabric stiff and canvas like, and it keeps it from fraying while cutting it. 5. When dry measure out your sails and cut them. For the lines I use a pencil and a ruler. I sew my sails on to the yard arms with thread and needle. That's it! Good luck with it. You can message me via pm if you have any questions. -
Custom sails (more realistic colors)?
Admiral Bejaune replied to Southwest Chief's topic in LEGO Pirates
I have had great success with creating custom sails. The trick is to use coffee and tea to get the darker color. I let my sails soak for 3 days in about 8 cups worth of both coffee and tea. The sails on the uss president are almost perfect color. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=422198 -
To be up front with you, I would scrap what you have and follow these steps in building a ship. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30623 In my opinion It is the best way to build a ship on prefab hulls. Best of luck. -B
