The original SW trilogy are U. Although I've just doubled checked my facts and realised they are PG in the USA. The later films have 12 ratings but Lego have done various animated versions of Star Wars. So yes SW has an appeal to younger kids more than HP does. -

I definitely don't think they'll do 4+, mainly because the first two films are PG the rest are 12 and quite long few 4 yos would sit and watch. Not to mention how many parents would encourage a 4 yo to watch 12 films? But I do think a micro scale 'something' to go with the micro castle would sell. -

Actually a micro scale DA makes sense, or a micro scale Hogsmede. I'll put my money on a micro scale something. -

My thoughts are the $120 set must be Gringots. Fits with the lower expectations comment. I can't imagine Lego not doing Gringots at all. The $250 I'm stumped. It seems massive for it to be something that goes with the modular Hogwarts. So I'm bombing the idea out that it goes with them. The modular sets are aimed at the kid market and $250 is a heck of a size for kids set. Could it possibly be a remake of the micro castle?? -

No reason for CoS to be under the Great Hall, technically it should be the Elves kitchens are under the GH as that's what it said in one of the books. Hence the food magically appears above. But I think from a Lego POV it's a good place to put CoS just to make it work. -

I do think Lego will come up with some new stuff too. If for no reason kids won't want repeats of what they already have either. Kids who were 8, in 2018 when they released the Great Hall will still only be 11 this year so still in the target collecting age bracket. -

Thats a good point that at least people are prepared. "Lowering expectations" certainly sounds to me that Gringots won't be the $250 set. Which in some senses makes sense, because DA & Gringots at $250 makes a getting a complete DA pricey. -

I think HP will be around for a while too, with remakes to keep it fresh. It seems timeless for kids. However I don't think Lego will do another big red steam train while the Disney Train is still available. Someone mentioned people having other worries. Yes Lego Harry & Mickey are a good distraction from the real world at the moment. -

BacktoBricks it makes some sense that it should work with the Astronomy tower etc. -

I just can't understand who the Anniversary sets are targeted at. Surely Lego doesn't need two modular systems on the same theme at the same time. Kids (the majority of buyers) will only collect one or the other not both. I'm assuming the Anniversary sets will be stacking like the original, but with a more modern style. -

The 2001 / 02 the modules stack vertically. It wouldn't be easy to add a CofS to the existing Great Hall because of the way it links to the other sets, ie you'd need to add a basement to the Great Hall, Clocktower and the Astronomy tower -

Maybe Lego feel the modular Hogwarts is getting too big. Kids won't collect the later sets if they don't have the Great hall or other early ones. From the hints that have been given it seems they are starting again and building vertically rather than horizontally. -

Falconfan, do you think that we'll get any more sets to fit with the current modular series? -

If people didn't buy the massive sets, Lego wouldn't keep making them. In the 80s lego didn't make huge sets but relatively speaking the sets weren't cheap. -

Your missing my point. Kids sets are limited by two factors, children's concentration span and budget. Lego know very few people would buy Lego sets at £150+ for kids. That's a big Christmas present in a high percentage of households. Adults have unlimited concentration, they'll build a bag and come back to it when they have more time. They have more disposable income than kids and therefore Lego can make sets targeted at the adult market. Which many kids will want but well beyond their budget. -

Juve I think the difference between now and 15-20 years ago. LEGO was aimed fair and squarely at children, even the big technic sets were age 10 or 12. Argos listed them as "boys toys". It wasn't cool or acceptable to admit you STILL liked it or collected it, if it got out you'd be called a "big kid" The big expensive sets came about with the internet and the AFOLs. Me I'm a big kid who never grew up. -

My thoughts are that Lego would rather people bought new sets rather than paying a premium to get "exclusive" figures on the second hand / collectors market. -

I was thinking the same thing, if the HP line keeps going, which I think it will, as HP appeals to both boys and girls more than most other themes that Lego do. Adult collectors will become selective in what they buy. I doubt very much that Star Wars or City collectors buy every set. -

Who knows what Lego will do. When Lego reintroduced Harry Potter in 2018 there were lots of moans from the AFOL community. They wanted something new, not repeats, why HP, give us something new and original. Many seem to miss that HP is aimed at children. Children who grow up and into HP. The 7 or 8 year old who wants the new Hogwarts sets would only have been 4 or 5, so too young really, when the existing line started in 2018. I'd like to know what percentage of HP sets are bought for adults vs children.
