LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think a dream series for me would be a World Cup series with figs from the most iconic teams. Unlikely to happen, I imagine, since it would probably be a licensing headache... -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
So exciting! Hope Lego keeps giving us retro sets for all iconic space subthemes. I wonder if the vote also gave them good reason to believe in the appeal of retro sets for other subthemes. -
Guinness World Record for Largest collection of minifigs
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The record has been broken again, and this time it looks like it'll stand for a while (assuming it's for unique official figures). It's 9,079 minifigs, from the collection of one Kyle Ugone, who also previously had the record for most completed sets. Assuming this is unique, official figures, which I believe from previous things they've put out on the subject, it consists of 9,079/14,847 minifigures, or about 61% of all existing minifigs. https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/431349-largest-collection-of lego® minifigures You've been proven right! Thanks for sharing! I had never heard of anyone committing to Town figures that much. It sounds like a very challenging collection to complete! Good luck! -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 24. Rumors and discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am unreasonably excited about finally getting purple bags!!!!! Just in the nick of time before they switched to boxes. Regarding figures, I am most excited about the spaceman and dinosaur suit guy. -
I was so excited to read about this. I don't want to set my expectations too high yet, but we didn't ever get a Sauron minifig...

Oh man, now they are just playing with my feelings. If we ever get those Dino figs I would be so happy... Sadly it's impossible to know right now if this is just a lost prototype or a leak from an upcoming figure. -
Monochrome Minifigures
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to der seb's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Interesting. They mention the old gray being perceived as dirty or yellowed. I think that looking at the old vs. the new gray side to side, I find the newer one more pleasant to look at. -
Counterfeit minifigs (allegedly) on Bricklink?
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for your insights. I am wishfully hoping that in the same way they were careless about listing sw0788 as an example, they were too quick to jump the gun on claiming these figures are counterfeit. What I do know is that, they have not yet communicated with buyers, who should be their priority. If they have evidence that some figures listed on Bricklink are counterfeit, they should alert the community and provide information so that people can identify these counterfeit figs. It would certainly be nice to hear from them and/or Lego themselves. I am not sure how much Lego has been involved in this process. If they were, I wish they would let us know. -

Counterfeit minifigs (allegedly) on Bricklink?
1980-Something-Space-Guy posted a topic in General LEGO Discussion
According to a recent Bricklink forum thread, Bricklink sent out an e-mail recently to sellers saying that the "Bricklink Marketplace has recently been flooded with high-profile counterfeit Minifigures". Supposedly, these minifigs are "known to have been made using genuine LEGO elements with after-market (custom) printing". Here is the e-mail: Does anyone have more information about this? Is there actual evidence that the minifigs in question are not genuine? How would we actually know? This makes me worried about minifigs I might have purchased in the past. I guess I have always been aware that this was a possibility, but it's not good to hear about anyways. If Bricklink's allegations are true, how can we possibly hope to identify counterfeit minifigs? Edited to add original e-mail. -

Monochrome Minifigures
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to der seb's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Interesting! I enjoy the hunt, but for me what I enjoy the most isn't that or the "having" per se, but rather being able to see figures in person and look at them from any angle I want, and place them in interesting arrangements with other figures. At this point I am mostly concerned about normal minifigures now being virtually cloneable. How do I know I am buying the real thing? I can't anymore.
